In my part of the world (Cape Town area) they are called Dassies. They are athletic beyond belief, bouncing around huge boulders like rubber balls because the pads on their feet have black traction pads on them.
Dassies! Came here to say that. Grew up in Joburg and they would also sleep on rocks in the sun looking kinda dead😅
@@LittleMissAnnThropy 🤣🤣🤣🤣 only thing laid back in Jo'burg!
Thanks for the information 😊
the reason their the Closest Relatives 2 Elephants 🐘 Dugongs & Manatees is cuz they have the exact same Bone 🦴 & Tooth 🦷 Structures
4 random animals but awesome @ the same time 😎 👏
Although hyraxes resemble rabbits in size and shape, genetic evidence suggests that they are more closely related to primitive hoofed mammals. The pads of their feet are moistened by glandular secretions, which make the soles more adhesive. This, along with the opposable toe on each back foot, enables hyraxes to climb steep rock faces. They are found in Africa and parts of the Middle East. Some species inhabit rocky outcrops; others are arboreal. They can survive food shortages because they eat almost every type of vegetation and require very little water (their kidneys are highly efficient).
This is one I've heard mentioned before, but had never seen it and knew nothing about it. It's totally fascinating and the cries it makes are incredible!!
