      +TheD2JBug Martin Brundle was never a pit reporter, so that's that out of the way.
      Ted is actually VERY good, but he has definitely gone down hill since he got given more air time on Sky - they increased the duration of his "notebook" and now lots of it is just irrelevant "oh look at me, I'm in the pit lane and you're not" nonsense with a few tedious anecdotes that lead to a very average punchline. When he had limited time, he got on with it; kept it concise, and to the point and was actually funny. He still does come with great stuff and isn't too afraid to ask the questions nobody else wants to; he's not afraid to come remind team bosses or drivers that they're only human and have to answer certain things that they would rather not etc.
      Love the guy, but he needs to fix up - these BBC and early Sky Sports F1 days were the golden era for him - he was in his element.
      Brundle is, and always has been, the gem of F1 broadcasting - nobody else, in any other motorsport coverage, comes close to him in terms of knowledge, wit, humour, accuracy, and general all-round quality.

    Irvine was a pretty awesome driver for Ferrari who had to put up with a lot of shtick and did a sterling job in '99, but as an ambassador to the sport he is far from ideal. :$

    Ouch what a burn at the end. Eddie always comes off as he is all that! Never liked him in F1 was secretly hoping he wouldn’t win Ferrari’s first drivers championship. I don’t think Ferrari also didn’t want him to win. They certainly didn’t help him that year. Amazing how far he made it in F1 and much he was paid.

    • @mbucd
      @mbucd Před 2 lety

      I think you may be right about some in Ferrari not wanting him to win that title.
      I remember him getting really fucked over at one of his pitstops in 1999
      when he had to wait like a minute because the tyres weren't ready.
      That was the kind of thing which never happened to Michael.

    you cant really complain about the racing this year, I didnt watch much last year so maybe it wasnt as good but this year has been fucking excellent, its sad to see the skill of defensive driving and making difficult passes fade a bit but still I'd rather see exciting races than a procession of cars that can only pass each other in the pits

    Eddie Irvine's point still stands F1is easier due to DRS, like DRS or not. Ted Kravitz just proves Irvine's point further by saying if DRS was around in Irvine's day he may have won a World Championship. Irvine may have won a World Championship in F1 with DRS it would have been easier for him but it wasn't the case and Irvine raced in a harder period. What about Mika Hakkinen and Michael Schumacher they were still around with no DRS so NO Eddie Irvine most probably would not have won a World Championship.

  • @mrlardster
    @mrlardster Před 6 lety +1

    Eddie Irvine would have been a world champion had he had not have had to play second fiddle to Schumacher for all them years he was at Ferrari! He gave up the lead so many times for Schumacher didn't he it was a joke!

    • @ingrogies1
      @ingrogies1 Před 10 lety +2

      Jovon devinci Irvine has a huge wallet no doubt but he would probably just bottle it like he did at Japan 99. I'd be more worried about getting hit by a championship trophy and by someone with the balls to win it.

    • @theF1oracle

      & Schumacher coming back & not helping probaly cost him the title

    • @ingrogies1
      @ingrogies1 Před 9 lety +7

      People seem to forget that McLaren had one of their worst ever cars for reliability that season (It was one of lowest championship points totals: 76) and Schumacher broke his leg. Irvine bottled it in Japan and then accused the team of altering his car because they wanted Schumacher to win it the next season. Schumacher let Irvine pass him twice in the previous race in Malaysia for a one two. Did he want Schumacher to spoon feed him the title?
