@@farishanafiah8461well they have to be, 80s drivers wouldn’t be able to drive these things, fitness and strength wise. I remember a story, im not sure if it was mansell, however it went like “we were on the podium, all tired and sweaty, and there was this kid (Michael Schumacher) who looked like he could do it all again” this is heavily paraphrased and idk if it was mansell, but michael was one of the first to prioritise fitness and science into his training. And as for people complaining, people have been complaining since day 1. The 50s f1 cars were heavily restricted compared to pre war machines, 60s f1 cars were lacking power compared to sports cars, 80s turbo cars had hurt racing compared to the previous decades, 90s cost were rising and refuelling was only adding artificial chaos, and on and on.

@@l_poci_ Yeah plus Mansell or that someone else were probably in their late 30s, early 40s while Schumacher was in his early to mid 20s, like many F1 drivers today. This is what divides the two eras, the common and average age of F1 drivers.

Well I guess you never watched 1999 season...
Mika retired 5 races and Ervine retired 1.
Ervine won against Hakkinen in 2 races.
1 in Austria, when Coulthard pushed Hakkinen to last place and Hakkinen came 3rd that race
2nd was in Malaysia when Schumacher played teammate and let Ervine be in 1st place and slowed down Mika during the race.
2 points from a championship is the overstatement of the century.

@antoniohmmm5518 It doesn't matter how it happened. Irvine being 2 points away from a title isn't an overstatement, it's a fact. Hakkinen might have been the far superior driver in 1999 but the record books will always show that Irvine was just 2 points behind
