Watching this after Movie Dumpster's review of the original was a real treat.
Just did the same. Thought it was kind of funny how MD had the entire plot nailed down but when Tony and Casey did their brief rundown of the original they admitted to being completely lost
Being an 90s latchkey kid was great. Watching Escape from LA in a theatre, alone, as a 7 year old, is peak childhood. lol

Yeah, I love this episode! Random fact first: Patrick Lussier, the director, is also known as the editor for the original 3 Wes Craven Scream movies.
Always love the chemistry between Tony and Casey! Like you mentioned, she should come back for "Final Destination 2 (2003)" when you eventually get to that.
I really appreciate Casey knew Katie Cassidy was in 3 HORROR REMAKES! Simon West's "When a Stranger Calls (2006)", "Black Christmas (2006)" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)"!
But you know what? The main actress, Jaime King, who portayed Sarah (generic af name), also being in a bunch of movies till the mid 2010s, was ALSO in 3 HORROR REMAKES!
"My Bloody Valentine 3D (2009)", "Mother's Day (2010)" starring Rebecca de Mornay and "Silent Night (2012)"!
Running in high heels comes from Brian De Palma Movies and is famously used in the beginning of It Follows 👠

I don’t think it’s better, but it’s an underrated remake. That naked girl in the parking lot is the kind of over the top fun shenanigans I want in a slasher movie
Its not even really a remake its supposed to be a sequel, hence the constantly referencing things from the original. Its really not that hard to be better than the original because it was a Canadian TV movie. Which is really why there isn't a whole lot of gore in it , it wasn't an artistic choice

@@lutherheggs451 Have you seen the unrated cut, it way better than one that one is originally released which was edited to pieces due to MPAA. Been restored since 2009 which is why had a positive reappraisal in the last decade.
Funny enough I think BV remake is one of the most overated remakes, the cinematography style makes look a cheap TV movie. The acting is subpar.
@@lutherheggs451Harry Wardens backstory is changed dramatically, & it retells the "who done it" Axel & TJ love triangle. How is it remotely a sequel? And the og was a TV film, it got cut to peices by the ratings bored plus using apart of its budget to undo changes to the mine the town made
Tom Atkins is one of my favorite actors. I got his autograph last spring at Steel City Con... multiple times. It was money well spent. 😅

I swear to god when I watch in it theaters( I was 18 btw.) When Harry and Tom did everything in unison face to face. I yelled in the theater, " Are they fucking pulling a FIGHT CLUB?!!"

surprised that tony preferred the Remake to the Original... I think they both are decent, Personally lean towards the Original (felt a little less "fast paced") Which helped just stabilize the plot to a basic slasher vibe.... cool classic kills too... all and all, A DELIGHT TO HAVE CASEY on the set and a beautiful duet of an episode as usual! 🥰😎🙏

The opening to the ORIGINAL, is set in present day. All the Harry Warden stuff was 20 years before.

I don't understand at the end when the two guys are fighting, why does she not shoot Tom. She waits til Axel gets stabbed and needs to carry him out of the room to safety. Lmao
There's an actual name for type reveal in Friday the 13th (1980). Its called a Clueless Mystery, meaning all the clues, foreshadowing mean nothing essentially just red herrings. Sometimes theres no clues at all or if there is they are vague and barely hinted at.
It's been used for a long time
started being used by author's (mainly mystery writers) who were getting fed up of fans complaining there twists were too easy to figure out. Rather than Fair Play Whodunnit they used to write they would use clueless method.
Other films fit under this I can think of are Bone Collector 1999 and Sherlock Holmes 2009 (actually faithful to how original stories were wrote).
Doesn't make the story any less good, though can come off cheap to some people not given any warning beforehand.
Hanging at mines is common in rural areas. They're usually off the beaten path and harder for cop cars to get to.

No, there’s one tiny scene with the kid you skipped where Sarah awkwardly gets home from work right after seeing Tom the first time. She just walks in and says her lines like a robot, “Ok, (maid’s name) I got it from here, go do your homework son.”
This is one of the very rare cases where I actually enjoy the Remake over The Original although i Love The Original 😃🤘😃🤘
Well, the name of the town is Valentine Bluffs. Of course they would hold some kind of festivity to celebrate _Valentine's_ Day. Anyway, the original is such a great slasher that it even has its own ballad. I prefer this to The Burning. A bunch of working-class youths oot and aboot? Can relate. Great stuff.
I’m a lonely 40 yr old myself Tony, I feel you pain, been single just as long but no dates with cute nurses. After this last broken heart, it’s hard to have the energy to care anymore. I don’t know where to begin or if it’s worth it. I’m too out of touch maybe 😒

The remake is... okay. The ORIGINAL... it has a massive cult following for a REASON. You LIKE the characters, they're relatable... they're working class schlubs in a little mining town in the Maritimes - town dances DO happen. The original is excellent - creepy, eerie, and it keeps you guessing. It's so good and SO much fun. And SO much better than the remake. You guys MAY be the first ones I've ever heard say "I don't really remember the original" - everyone I know can QUOTE it. And the ending song...

I enjoy the Remake even more than the original. I have the 3D Blu-ray. Jensen Ackles was awesome in the great cast. The 3-D gore effects were cheesy and fun.

Candyman remake you say? No sir Candyman (2021) is not a remake it is in fact a sequel to the original Candyman (1992) I suggest you watch them both. I do not think the remake is better in my opinion the original is one of the best 80s slasher movies out there and this remake is not worth the time to watch it the biggest sin this movie makes is lying to you about who the killer is the entire movie then being like ohh we fooled you at the end when no u didn't u lied to us this remake also dosent have the same charm as the og

Yes of course it's better than the original. The original is more Canadian than Strange Brew and is fairly dull with cinematography that screams "we couldn't even afford Toronto". Plus the remake went all in with Betsy Rue...:)
