Marvel is dipping its toes into the horror genre lately. It's not the first time though! Of course they did Blade before but they actually put out a full on monster creature feature in the mid 2000's. Tony and Mint Salad from @ASEPresents get together to talk about this forgotton horror classic.

Had a lot of fun with this episode. I’ve always liked how this channel easily goes between more serious reviews, and laid back conversations between friends.
Never stop tony, the show is gold
Agreed👍👍
Amen
Crystal too
Man-Thing looked so good in Werewolf by Night. Excellent blend of CGI, Practical effects, and animatronics.
The special effects people for Stranger Things could learn a thing or 37 from this, because their creature effects are usually pretty bad.
Mints biwater joke caught me off guard 😂😂
Mint's Aussie doing southern is so spot on
Great episode. The one and only Mintsalad returns!
Keep on being awesome Tony. 😁
11:29 Because the water flows both ways.
Me at the preview: "Who is that Goth chick with long hair?" (Mint talks) "THAT'S MINT SALAD?!"
50:30 "the Pirates of Dark Water" is a great cartoon ! it has Tim Curry from original "IT" film, as the voice of bad-guy. Hanna-Barbera made the cartoon (same people that made Jetsons,Flitstones, and Swat Kats) and the show was canceled after 1 or 2 seasons before the whole story was told.
This movie looks great! I love early 2000's movies.
Mint salad sounds like me at 1:27am at the drive thru trying to order a Big Mac combo after drinking a 24pk of Busch light
That coupled with not staying on topic for longer than five minutes, attempting jokes
I wonder if ManThing uses Manscape for his man thing?
best way to not knick his twig and berries
Sorry mint. I watch this for Tony
I've got a one up on you Tony... I meet a guy in a funeral home parking lot to get paid.👌🤣
I can't figure if Mint Salad sounds like a kid on tyrannosaurus tranquilizers or Master Shake from ATHF.
RODNEY!!
RODNEY!!
**RODNEY!!**
"The gator puts the poison in the child's water bowl-"
Ok, i missed something
Id love if you ranked all the Saw movies, Jigsaw and Spiral included
Listening to mint ramble about gators reminded me of an annoying 6 year old.
I always thought Rachel Taylor's character was supposed to be Man-Thing ally, sorceress by the name of Jennifer Kale. They mention she has some kind of psychic powers by the old indian who raised her.
Marvel did three issue prequel series to the movie written by the flick's screen writer, Hans Rodionoff, and drawn by Kyle Hotz. Pretty good book.
Man-Thing is on Tubi. I had no idea this was a thing until two weeks ago when I watched it haha
The Man-Thing movie from the SciFi channel? or as the ladies know him "Giant-Sized Man-Thing". When you said forgotten Marvel movie,I thought you were talking about "Generation-X"(the made for TV X-men movie, it's also the 1st Fox X-men movie)
@@scottneil1187 it most definitely is 😆
One thing the mutant fighting swamp thing going for it were the child actors appearances. Every time they cracked me up. Maybe that was not their intent, but I found them halla funny.
I love how the Man Thing grows parts through the bodies while it tears them apart. This movie was way better than it had a right to be. Wasn't great, but it was better than many similar films.

I saw this when it premiered on TV and remember liking it for what it was. I had read maybe a couple of the comics.
Not the worst movie set in a swamp... 🤣
Her hair is amazing
Mint actually does a fantastic impression of an Aussie being bad at doing a Southern accent.
Tony tmrw drain the swamp.
Shrek also doesnt like people in his swamp.....
I know Man-Thing from comics, "Whoever Knows Fear Burns At the Touch of... The Man-Thing", though I'm probably not as big a fan of Man-Thing as Mint, I haven't seen him in movies.
Swamp movies? Best one I've seen... I think would be Southern Comfort.
Swamp Thing was conceived 1st. It's all in the name. Who has the cooler name that describes the character in 2 words? Who has the generic derivative name that describes nothing? Shoulda just called him Grondak or something.
Some of the writers/artists lived together. Theory is Man Thing was rushed to have firsties. Spying, egos and chicanery were involved.
Funfact- Len Wein created Swamp Thing, Storm, Wolverine, Amanda Waller, Lucious Fox, many others.
Amanda Waller was co-created by Joh Ostrander, John Byrne and Len Wein. Character first appeared Legends #1 written by Ostrander and was used in Ostrander's Suicide squad
That’s what I would of thought, tho I didn’t know for sure. Leave it to Hack the Boobies to get the facts straight
I wonder how many ends up watching this as their introduction to Hack the Movies. And if they ever click on another HtM video.
Hahaha, I think most not knowing who these people are would say, “hey, these hacks don’t know anything. Why are they talking about movies? What’s a mint salad.? Does this video need to be 2hourslong?”
I actually like Brett Leonard's Hideaway.
I'm glad Mint allowed a small CZcamsr like Tony onto her show.
I always try to help the less famous 🤗 - Mint
I highly recommend never looking at Mint's Fansly content.
Good rant Mint, really got gators down. Also, that part where the wall blows apart, there very well could've been a CGI effect meant to go there but this movie got its budget SUPER slashed. The suit in the whole movie is practical with CGI accents, and apparently they made it to be able to see what they were gunna have to do with the effects and were supposed to replace it, and they just left it.
but i do wriggle my fingers in public or at home
I have this on DVD somewhere lol
Reaction requests; Swamp Thing 2 and Space Truckers
Mint did a great job, it would be awesome to have Kieran and Mint on the same show, they have very similar chill vibes with the hilarious quips!
Haven't seen this movie yet. Mint Salad!!
What a refreshing salad, the mint really brings out the flavors.
I remember the birthday wishes for this guest.
Is Mint Salad, some kind of "bit" like Borat? Or a real person?
She is autistic and Hack The Movies is super inclusive.
@@HackTheMovies your doing god's work Tony and team, keep it up.
You ever think of having zac amico on. Maybe he would have you on as well thanks, Santa
Man-Thing has crossed paths with Howard the Duck, Spider-Man, Hulk, The Thing...most Deadpool fans will know him in Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe. He became a member of the Thunderbolts at one point but really was captured and his swamp(idk how that works) by SHIELD to use as the Thunderbolts transportation for missions. In the comic event Fear Itself because the entire world was in fear of the events taking place he became a Daikaiju breaking free from SHIELD in the Raft and destroying cities. I think he also appeared in Marvel Zombies or one of the crossover events. He's become more of a supporting character and I think that works best for him.
Man-Thing does actually protect the Nexus of Realities. That is actually comic accurate.
And Tony's correct, Man-Thing and Howard The Duck are friends.
Gotta love a giant sized Man-thing
As expected, Mint not only lived up to the hype, but surpassed it.
Also I love Mint Salad mainly because my niece is autistic and she’s a great example of how charming neurodivergent people can be.
🤗 - Mint
Schist is a type of rock.
I was thinking a type of rock music at first😅
Can we get a mint salad attorney at law show? But every episode she's trying to convince the jury that the alligators did it
" What if a baby ingested rat poison by accident? " " There are no accidents.." - Mint Salad, attorney at law
Salad😍good gosh
I remember Man-Thing shows up at the end of Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe. My God, did it suck.
U need 3 ppl. 2 is too boring
I remember this came out when I was in high school. I was a huge Frank Zappa fan so I drew up a female version I called the "Woo-man Thing" Get it?
I never even heard of this one.
Going to try to watch it before the premiere.
Welcome back, Mint!
try watching first doctor strange
from 70s or something
there's also nick fury hesselhoff
and well a ton of cap spider and hulk things
Really glad we all tucked the man thing jokes away
If it's the sci Fi original movie. Than yeah that's forgotten like the video game movies and the phantom remakes.
Tell me about and why you love Mint Salad
in only 30 seconds: 4:30 - 5:00
I have never heard of this!
Sweet, I'll be able to join the chat like the old days for this episode!!
About to be a lot of people jealous of them skeleton hands on Tony's shirt
I remember watching this from the Player's Choice rental store. The Man-Thing suit looked fine, but the story was cheesy.
We see u mint❤❤❤
I own a copy and the comic book prequel.
Ooh is this Man-Thing!!!?? I haven’t forgot about this… but Disney has…maybe on purpose or maybe it fell through the cracks. Who knows who has the rights
@@scottneil1187 oh cool
Funnily enough that first Wes craven swamp thing film was the first time I’d seen a set of boobs as a child lmao, what a movie to start with 😂.

The movie, given the time period, is a lot batter than it should be!
"00:35:39" It was at that very moment when Tony realized he had no control over the show.
Intest"outs" classic MintSalad
Woah.... MINT SALAD IS A GODDESS
The best salad is a mint salad. The Bible says so.
Why do I feel like if I talked about a woman’s bubble butt I’d get in hot water?Lol
Okay, fine, I'm Team Mint now.
ROOOOODNEEEEYYY!!!
Love how Mint broke Tony for a sec...Roadhouse
Mint Salad is like that one relative you don’t see too often, but it’s always a good time when you do see them.
I'm really proud of this community for not doing any man thing jokes, i know it must be hard but we did it!
It was really hard to keep the man thing jokes down for so long.
More Mint Salad please
Is this a new premier time?
No. The episode kept getting claimed so I wasn't able to schedule it early like usual. This is a one off thing.
This should be fun!
What are talking about the new mutants
Wish I'd forgotten about that
Definitely one of the movies ever.
Oh my, Mint keeps changing so much. I thought Tony brought in a new guest. She still looks great.
The moment tony started to laugh at mint was the same second i did . More mintsalad pls
Mint Salad rocks
Man, I'd love to see you guys do a show on Constantine. It's always been underrated but seems to be gaining a cult following as of late.
Man thing has an interesting history. Unlike Swamp Thing in dc, man thing didn't have much in the way of a mind. All who know fear burn at the touch of man thing was literal. If you freaked out and he touched you something about the biochemistry would burn you. As a result he was more of a secondary character in his own comic. The town it takes place in is extremely Rural and inbred with a lot of questionable or poorly educated characters. Usually the stories were some kind of morality play, think a twilight zone or Tales from the Dark Side episode.
The comic really hit its stride when it was written by Bill Mantlo. Bill had been known for writing quite a few things including the incredible hulk, ROM, micronauts. He also created his most famous Creation in the pages of swamp thing. This is where Howard the Duck got his start.
You see, Bill expanded on the concept to imply that this small swamp in rural Louisiana was the Nexus of all realities and man thing had inadvertently become its protector, tied to the location. As a result the adventures got really cool and weird going to other dimensions and realities but never losing touch with its base of operations in rural louisiana. One of those Adventures wound up bringing Howard the Duck into our world.
Tragically, bill was injured decades ago when he was hit by a car and has needed a lifetime of medical assistance. He suffered some brain damage as a result I believe and has largely been a recluse where people take care of him. It's a shame because he's not as well known as some of the other creators especially since both ROM and micronauts Marvel lost the rights to so the stories can never be republished and the characters can never be used again or even referenced directly. Marvel has managed to repurpose some of them but I don't think they ever give Matt Lowe any credit
This movie is weird because men think doesn't actually have any powers other than the fact he's basically indestructible, since he is made of muck, and if you freak out when you see him which 99% of the planet would, if he touches you he generates something that burns you alive. He's not terribly fast, and at best sometimes you get narrative text that indicates that he can think on some rudimentary level. I know under bills stories there was a point where he regains his intelligence, and in recent years he was somehow pulled into the Thunderbolts and in that they unleash magic that allows them all to communicate with him, but by that point they completely revoked any kind of development he ever had. He now becomes their teleporter and a source of Comedy, no longer has to be at the Nexus of realities, and there's absolutely no reference to the person he used to be
Mint is a handful
I really need to see the film trilogy Gator Guns, Gator Guns 2: Green Herring, and Gator Guns 3: Intest-out , starring Mint Salad and Tony From Hack The Movies
join kickstarter for gator guns 4: gator guns doing 9 november
Man the costume made me think Tony was covering American Sniper
Very glad Mint is back she was great in the power rangers episode also I’m glad she was here I know nothing about Man Thing but Mint taught me all the comic lore things
And especially about Gator Glocks
And hyper intelligent Gators
This episode was painful. You can see Tony trying so hard to just sit back and listen to the co-host. Much regret.
A lot more meandering than usual I hear. I like the other comments, “best episode Eva! More mint!”
It wasn't that bad..it was a bad movie, so that didn't help.
11:29 Mint broke me😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
gators did 9 november!
Mint has one rule she lives by and it's served her pretty well; never trust a man in a Hawaiian shirt.
