The first two Terminator movies were some of the most beloved sci-fi action movies of all time. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and James Cameron brought us an exciting world involving killer robots, time travel and a whole lot of running around. Ever since then, Hollywood has been trying to breathe new life into the franchise and make some money off of it. Now James, Arnold and Linda are all back to take matters into their own hands.
Terminator: Dark Fate definitely raises a lot of questions. Like why kill off John Connor only to bring back someone with the exact same function as him? Why are these new machines also called Terminators? Why didn’t “Legion” send them back to before people had access to advanced weaponry to defend themselves? What the heck’s going on with Carl?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to Terminator: Dark Fate! It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience!

When everyone does their part
Big TRAV umm,,,,
I watched the movie before this and it wasnt very good. The story is ridiculous
At this point I’m just going to pretend Terminator 2 is where the series ended.
I find myself doing this with a lot of things... Alien, Predator... *shrug*
Give it 10 years, someone will try again.
I think we're all doing that tbh
And, to be honest, that one doesn't make any sense, but at least it's an action masterpiece so it gets a pass.
It Technically did....James Cameron never had intentions on making a T2 sequel
Arnold- "I've been waiting 30 years to stop a terminator heres all my guns...none of which will stop a terminator"
Yeah, that's what bothered me most in Sarah Connor Chronicles. They know their enemy, they had plenty of time, but still take pistols to fight terminators.

@@allmycircuits8850 That show had so much potential
Right?! Absolutely maddening and they gloss right over it. I swear it's gotta be on the same page of dialogue- here's all these badass guns but we need this one specific gun to have any hope of winning
@@allmycircuits8850 It's easy to explain away too; Skynet/Legion adapts so they start prepared with special rounds and stuff but the 2nd wave of baddies has adjusted so now their prep is worthless
So Legion is basically the First Order of the Terminator franchise.

Correct
Here is the real question
Question = What evil group said that their name was LEGION ?
@@chrisgardiner2215 Theories: 1) Scrum team of developers named themselves Legion as a joke.
2) Programmer named their group of virtual containers "Legion" for the source code.
3) Group of writers that don't understand how AI works thought it was a cool name for... reasons (?).
How is T8-100 existing with his future destroyed?
How does he know about Legion which is not from his future?
How does he know about the exact spawn spots of the Terminators sent by a different evil entity which is not even his own timeline?
Why does he still exist?
Why does he become good?
Did he change his code?
How did he manage to have a family?

T1&2. The end.
They are all canon according to Endgame. Each one is split off into it’s own timeline.
At least Terminator has time travel as an excuse. Not so much for Halloween's mess of a timeline.
I accept everything as canon, even Sarah Connor Chronicles. Every time someone time travels the timeline is radically altered, each movie could be a new shard fragmented of the original timeline, and by the time you get to Genesys and Dark Fate they've fucked with local spacetime so much the universe is breaking down and creating all kinds if weird errors and paradoxes like people remembering multiple timelines and terminators appearing from aborted universes to eliminate targets that are already dead.
Does canon mean relevant?

This movie was practically begging for the "pitch meeting" treatment.
When Dani showed up in Grace's flash back/forward with corn rows, the entire theatre I was in absolutely pissed themselves laughing 😆🤣😂🤣
They could have made the movie hinge on her but not have her actually replace John. They could have given her any kind of important role showing why she needs to survive without making her the savior of humanity. It would have played out so much better.

"So the movie can happen"
"That works for me"
"there is a reason"

"So the movie can happen"
Haha yes!
Easily the best "so the movie can happen" so far in this series.
The way I see it, the further you go back in time to change something, the more likely more things will change in the future. So to make sure only the change you want happens, be as close to your original time as possible when going back in time
I completely agree. So we send a resistance fighter back to 2002 to kill Arnie so none of the unnecessary/terrible sequels happen without messing with the timeline too much. I mean, he won't become the Governator but honestly, California was always destined for its own personal judgment day so what does it matter if it comes a few years earlier?
Perfect set up in that joke.
Terminator Dark Fate. The last three movies never happened and the first two don't matter.
DavesWorld It’d honestly be much better if they did just ignore the first two movies and just make a full reboot. At least then, they wouldn’t pointlessly and spitefully render those movies irrelevant just to repeat the plot with worse characters.
Nice isn't it? The creativity of modern Hollywood. :(
In the words of that guy from the clone wars: "Not to me."
Shouldve ended it at judgment day
So how does it feel to have all your favourite franchises go up in smoke?
I love the logic "Look it's very simple. Sky-Net that's never going to exist, in the future that's never gonna happen, sent a couple of terminators back to the past to stop John Connor from stopping the future from never happening. But then then him and his mom succeeded so that future from which the terminators came ended up never happening. But they already got sent back before it didn't exist." Producer Guy: "Screw it. OK."

Kadmos' Rebellion classic
There actually is a reason that I can think of. If you remember in the first two films, the terminators needed to use phone books, police scanners etc to even find the correct Sarah/John Connor. I don't think it would be very easy to find a family who knows where there great great great grandfather exactly was 300 years ago. If they did, you wouldn't have as much infrastructure to utilize in order to find them
@@StickyDiceOfficial plus, going that far back might offset the timeline for the AI as well, the butterfly effect
@@Patient_Zero_0 agreed! If skynet is already a thing, they know that their own future is already somewhat secured
@@StickyDiceOfficial Yeah. In the first Terminator movie it was established that Skynet had lost a significant amount of data due to the War. The ONLY information they had on John Connor's mother was her name and city.
It's a testament to how good the first two Terminator movies were that people are still trying to recapture that magic.
*milk the franchise for more money.
at least the bad movies are making T3 not look so bad anymore aye? lol
also why are people still asking why people aren't going further back in time i.e plothole? the reason why they don't go too far back as they don't want to delete the world just remove mankind. if they go too far they could remove its OWN existence ALSO terminators can't track specific people down hence why arnie in T1 still needed to look for sarah connor via phonebook
@@GawrGurasBathTubPizza The only thing wrong with T3 was the TX. Salvation was fine but odd.

It has been a while since I have made a comment, but I always watch. There's are a mark of genies, so clever, and entertaining, and original. Thank you
When the screenwriter guy gave that explanation of how there's still Terminator's I actually completely understood it.
If there weren’t still Terminators from the original (now deleted) timeline, then there couldn’t be a John Connor to kill. If the future they prevented never happened, then Reese was never sent back in time to get Sarah knocked up, so the events of the first movie never happened. And if the first movie never happened, then Dyson wouldn’t have had a Terminator CPU to study inT2, which lead to the creation of SkyNet, so the second movie never happened.
The best you can say is that the events of T2 caused a timeline split, so Dark Fate is on the timeline that branched off due to T2, but the SkyNet future still exists in another branch. Which also means that if SkyNet sends a Terminator back to before the timeline split, versions of that Terminator will be in both timelines. So we could have both SkyNet and Legion sending Terminators back to before the split so their respective Terminator armies can lay dormant until they activate in the other timeline’s future, each joining forces with the two human resistances (temporarily, at least) to destroy their AI rival before launching their own bids to exterminate humanity on both timelines.
