- Join Dr. Ibreez as she spends a day at Derriford Hospital as working as one of the medical registrars on call!
International medical graduates (IMGs) are often reluctant to take a specialty route that has them be a medical registrar, but is it really as bad as everyone says? See what a day shift looks like to know if you'd be interested in pursuing a role like this!

You're welcome!
So excited and happy for your success dr.ibreez....I wanted to ask how important research and case reports is in your recruitment in NHS?? How many publications do we need to get into training?
Thanks! For non training jobs, it's not a big deal. For training, depending on how competitive it is, you should look at the scoring for the portfolio to determine where you can maximize your points.
Blessings & warm wishes to you from the middle east 😊😊
🤗🤗
What books do you recommend during imt training to improve your knowledge of clinical medicine??
Are you still at Derriford?
I’m working soon there as Regis in Neurosurgery , great to have you on board 😀
Yes I am! Hope to see you soon :)

I pray that when I start my FY2 I am posted in your hospital.

I just started working as a fy2 and I'm thinking how coool would it be Ibreez was my reg xD
Haha 😆
A bit off topic but I would like to ask you if you find the culture within the NHS is more compassionate and the people in its employ focus more on the patients anxiety around being in need of medical care ? I’ve lived under private and public healthcare and always got the impression that in the NHS the focus was first on the patient but in private I felt it was always a ‘time is money’ attitude which left me feeling a bit anxious. I have epilepsy and I’m from the UK so from pretty much birth I’ve been in care as an outpatient but I always felt they were trying to make life better for me as a person. When I was in Holland where they have a private or semi-private system they were focussed solely on the medical side with time focussed entirely on the issue and felt like I was in McDonalds. I have as much love for the NHS as I do anything in my life and to me it’s a perfect example of compassion. I’m immensely grateful to everyone that work/ there from cleaners to consultants and everything in between. Thank you for the true ‘service’ the National Health Services ❤️🏴🇬🇧🇺🇸
Oh definitely! There is more of an element of providing the right care with a balanced approach. The patient isn't a cash machine, rather they are someone to treat.
💪💪💪
☺️
Hi 👋
Please I be heard that IMG usually don’t get place for FY1 after finishing plab exams. How far true is it?
It's not true at all. Please see: czcams.com/video/DEPSnZ7nCcY/video.html
Any tips for me? I’m returning to medicine after a 5 year break. Starting soon. Really want to do internal medicine. Help !!

Hi I'm a plab aspirant. Can we settle in uk after plab , post pg and mch (8 years ) completion?
Yes. You get indefinite leave to remain after 5 years.
is it true that many hospitals in the uk don't have good facillities for doctors to rest and take a break especially during night shift where a doctor should have a on call room??
We've never experienced that. All the hospitals we've ever worked at or known about have had a mess/canteen/on-call rooms
Are we going to talk about the amount of food for two people.
🤣🤣
It was for everyone, we just missed the initial rush!
Medical registrar means which level- ST1 /2 ???
IMT3 or ST3 and above.
Hello Ibreez, I am very much concerned with prayer time... Is prayer time missed sometime? Can I stick to my prayer time?
You are allowed breaks. What you do during those breaks is up to you. Just ensure there is nothing pressing that must be done and then inform your team/ward that you'll be taking your break. You will likely have a pager number you can also leave them if they need you for any reason.
Salam maam which hoapital do you work for?
Walaikum assalaam, Derriford!
what were you guys eating pls?
A variety of curries from a local restaurant
hello there.
do i need a police clearance certificate from my home country of bangladesh if i'm also a uk citizen?
or is that just for visa purposes?
No it's just for visa.
@@RoadToUK thank you.
You both ate all the food?!?! 😀😀
Heheh 😋
@@RoadToUK Hii. If someone is offered a specialist registrar post as first job in NHS, do you think it is a good idea to accept??
Grt
👍🏻
hey dear where you from??
🌎
@@RoadToUK 💕😂
Mam are you in specialty training?
Internal medicine training.
All that food for TWO people??!!
Haha, no, for everyone! We were just a little late getting there :)
What is the usual working time

You sound American
Yes.
Thanks for these vids, enjoyed this one!
I'd suggest removing the background music, it's difficult to hear you at times.
👍🏻
who is the cover doctor? sho?
Cover doctors can be an FY1, FY2, an internal medicine trainee or a GP trainee.
Hiya. Your on shift 'to camera' audio is really poor. Don't know why. Otherwise, nice video. Stay safe. All the best to you.
Sounds fine to me 🤔
👍🏻
🇧🇩😇😇😇
☺️☺️☺️
Motuuu😂
Such an informative video but the music is very distracting and annoying :/
👍🏻
