    Fascinating. You guys are the pioneers of a new era of golf instruction. No more guessing or one-size-fits-all approaches. Evidence and data-based instruction is the wave of the golfing future and these guys are at the forefront.

      Thanks a bunch, Dave. We're very fortunate to work with some of the best in the game and we hope that sharing the data we're able to collect will help more golfers understand what is actually happening in the swing. We're constantly learning ourselves! 😊

    The sequencing talk starting at about 14:40 is invaluable. Most of us are starting the weight/forward shift too late. Another phenomenal video !

    The holding flag was genius! I have been guilty of that, I feel it is because I did not fully understand the release and was trying to hold those angles to square the clubface by turning and not releasing or unhinging/ uncocking my wrists. Can you guys do a video showing how the unhinging/ uncocking of the wrists actually square up the face automatically helping you stay back and not have to use the shoulders to turn over the top to square the club face to the target? Keep up the great work! Thanks guys!

    Found this gem of a video tonight, lots of great stuff that always has me thinking and rethinking. One thing I must do with the driver is keep my head behind the ball at address all the way thru impact,, it's a miss of mine due to being relatively thin especially the legs,,, a break down in the left knee which causes way to much lateral motion, more or less either over the top or a flip with hands, Yuck! But yeah, I tend to lean too far right at address with an overly strong grip position, mo' problems but thanks to your channel I've greatly improved! Always a student of this game, nothing more.

    Those who encourage keeping the arms up are teaching a similar concept you are talking about when you say that the pressure shift forward has to happen in the backswing. Keeping the arms up is another way to say that the transition has to happen as your turning in the backswing. If the arms come down too early the sequence is ruined, pressure forward too late etc. Majority of high handicap amateurs pull the club down or spin the upper body before any transition has happened with the lower body.

  • @Lomlomlom
    @Lomlomlom Před 4 lety

    Great breakdown.
    The way this has clicked in my head- during the back swing, while the club head is moving backwards I'm moving backwards. Then when the clubhead is moving forwards over my head, I'm moving forwards.

    Very comprehensive - thanks! Would appreciate some clarification on the difference between “casting” / too early release, the correct release, and the “holding” you describe here.

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  Před 5 lety

      Casting would have the club way outside the hands very early in the downswing (from face on view), and holding would be trying to delay club from passing the hands with the hands. Does that help?

    You guys mentioned that before too about not rotating hips too much at beginning of swing. I stopped doing this and helped a lot. Been focusing on starting with hands and shoulders then letting hips follow.

    You responded to a post I provided....and mentioned a slight "crunch" of the left side, lead shoulder down with the shift to the lead side.
    Could you do a video TRIANGULATING the lead knee, lead hip, and the lead shoulder with the Avitar? It seems the lead shoulder and lead knee compress and then releases. The relationship between these three points during the swing might be interesting. Thanks.

    Really helpful concept- hands don't go to ball- clubhead goes to ball.
    My confusion still remains with the proper way to execute the takeaway. Some suggest using the upper body core to rotate the arms with little wrist action- you seem to suggest very little upper body rotation but more arm and wrist action to get to first parallel, saving the rotation for later in the backswing- do I have this correct?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  Před 5 lety

      I'd say that's correct for most of the golfers we see, Leonard. The overwhelming majority really get the body rotating but forget about the arms and club. The reality is, both need to happen.

      You'll get different descriptions based on feel from really good players. A lot of it depends on arm dominance. But the reality is, both need to work properly to get the face where it needs to be.

  • @77bovi

    Been scouring your videos for info on the release, squaring of clubface etc and thought this would be the one. Unfortunately not. Its not a to z, more like a to m.
    Perhaps many of your students benefit from correcting their backswing, for myself im pretty athletic but because im so confused about p5.5 onward through impact that once figured out, my swing wouls transform. There are so many pro swings with unorthodox backswings but are money through impact.
    Thanks for the videos

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  Před 3 lety

      You’re in for a little g tough ride if you think the fix is that lay in the swing. For every pro with an unorthodox backswing there are scores more with an orthodox one. Good luck👊

    • @77bovi
      @77bovi Před 3 lety

      @@AthleticMotionGolf sounds a bit hostile, I'm not attacking your concepts. I'm just pointing it would have been good if the video included p6 onwards too.
      You use Billy Horschel as a model. I'm sure even he works on his release etc. Billy has a great great swing.
      The backswings of the current top 10 ranked golfers in the world do not support your talk of orthodox backswings. Their release pattern is different too. Either they found a backswing that fits their chosen release or vice versa. Still release has to be part of the conversation. Body type structure too.
      some teach impact using it as the base and build the swing from there, doesn't seem fair to knock on these people or that different players learn better with different approaches. Not at all saying the backswing isn't important.
