One of the best songs from the greatest rock band in history
Don't Shoot Shot gun and Run Riot are the two most underrated songs on the album
The riff right after the bass and drums kicks in is Steve's creation. One of the best Steve Clark moments ever recorded.

Steve was big Police fan and riff came from "Message in a Bottle" played basically backwards at slower pace and heavier tone. BVs for chorus , Mutt had a mic hooked up from ceiling in small hallway in Wisselord studios, and all were crammed around mic in this small hallway basically shoulder to shoulder, doing tons of takes for couple hours.... funny story, it got so redundant Rick Allen belted out "Fuck the Gods of War" on Mutt's cue on one of the takes just to break things up a bit..lol

Gods of War is my favorite Def Leppard song on this album. But the entire album is perfection.

They basically had 3 perfect albums in a row each in a slightly different genre of rock.
In my opinion "Gods of war" and "Hysteria" and "Animal" was the best songs of the whole album but anyway and in my opinion again "Hysteria" was the best album of Def Leppard..it was EPIC! All the songs were amazing👍❤
I loved Don't Shoot Shotgun great song! Almost every song is a hit on that album
God's Of War the best track on Hysteria by a country mile but High 'N' Dry is the best followed by Pyromania 2nd then Hysteria 3rd.

I always liked Steve Clark's part on Dogs of War. Ironically my band was tracking at A&M studios (Tampa) a couple of months ago and Rick Allen was in just a few hours later to do a session. Love Lep and thanks for your reviews Sarah!

Hi Sarah! Two more great songs off Hysteria, only four more to go!!😭 It's a shame you didn't like 'shotgun' but hey ho, I can see that on Hysteria it does amount to filler. 'Gods of War' is immense and for Def Leppard in the 80s was definitely a darker, deeper vibe. Personally I love anything with a darker intensity, so I have always loved this song. The albums 'retroactive' and 'slang' both have more songs like this. 'Gods' is a great song on a great album.

As for ranking the 3 albums.🤔 I think you know which one is my favourite by a mile ........ 'Hysteria'!!!!! Everyday of the week and twice on Sunday!!! To quote one of the greatest movies of all time, 'Highlander' ......"there can be only ONE!!!" Every songs a winner, baby, that's no lie!! It has sold so many copies for a reason. There are distant life forms in faraway galaxies arguing about which is the better album 'Hysteria' or Queen 'Greatest hits'!!! As I have said before ' Hysteria' is the sound of Summer all year round and and always takes me to a safe, happy place of nostalgia and the rites of passage of leaving childhood behind without even realising it was happening. If I had to describe 'Hysteria' in one word it would be - magical!!
As for the other two albums ...... now that is a hard one. 'Pyromania' has 7 of Def Leppard's best songs (the first 7!!) but I don't personally like the rest and for me they are among the weakest of their whole career. 'High and Dry' is a brilliant album that I often listen to from start to finish and always thoroughly enjoy. 🤔🤯 Normally I would call it a draw, but in the spirit of this journey I will make a decision. 1: Hysteria
2: High and Dry
3: Pyromania
By the thinnest of margins the order was completed. If you are continuing on with the Def Leppard saturday journey, it will be interesting where you rank 'On Through The Night', 'Adrenalize' and the rest as you work through them. For me 'On Through' might pip 'Pyromania' too, as I love their youthful energy, and 'Adrenalize' is, sadly, the weakest album of the 5. Only my opinion though, and no more (or less) valid than anyone else's! Like all opinions - best taken with a pinch of salt!🧂

Well next week is actually going to be run riot the hysteria. Keeping it in order and I read it wrong. Thank god for the subscriber who pointed it out. But i can't wait for them all out. I have my slow opinions so far though I am keeping it too myself. Haha. We will be continuing with those two in that order the on through the night and the other. So I am ready!! Let's do it. I am going to do On through the night first then Adrenalize. Someone ask me first to do on through the night, I said yes and I stick to my word. Also I have been ask a few times to do adrenalize which is why I certainly will after we do Def Leppards first album. Thank you for your suggestion and sorry for the story haha. Much love.

All they're albums are absolutely awsome. But hysteria will always be my favorite album. Gods of war is the best song on the album I'd like to see a reaction vid. Featuring the song overture. That song gives me goosebumps love that song. Would like to know what you think.

@@jimmy-stourbridge-fc8980 correct.... they were worried how to play it live when the single was released and during couple days rest during tour, arranged and rehearsed how they could play it live, since it was never played together as a band in studio and was recorded in pieces.

Both gods of war and don’t shoot shotgun solos is Steve. Gods of war is a very political song and don’t shoot shotgun is about a man messing around with a married woman.
