For the Hysteria tour, they would open with Stagefright. They'd drop the curtain and off they'd go. Was really something to see.

Yes you are right about stage fright, it is Phil playing because he did that solo in one take and Matt Lange was so impressed by it so they put it on the album, so I think that was the first solo that Phil did when he joined

And oh here’s a little fun fact stage fright was originally a Pete Willis solo. But when came to the studio drunk mutt Lange exploded on him for showing up drunk and of course they fired him and brought phill in.
Hi Sarah, you Pyromaniac!!🔥🔥🔥🔥 What a way to start - 2 of the most rocking Def Leppard songs and both personal favourites. Both are incredible live and always put a smile on my face. By this point The Leps were on another level entirely. Truly special music that broke the mold back in the day.
I think your name the soloist game might be a bit buggered now though, just saying!🤣🤣🤣🤣 I am sure Steve must play a solo before the end of Hysteria but most are the man with the blurry fingers - Phil Collen. He's not as cool as Steve but I am sure you will fall under the spell of the Kung Fu Grandad. The sight of him shirtless, covered in baby oil may, or may not, put you off your dinner but is a sight you will undoubtedly be confronted with at some point. The rest of the band do wear shirts. 👕👕
As for watching you listen to songs you already know? I say why the heck not!! In the interest of continuity it is essential. You are reacting to the album as a whole - which it appears you have not heard in its entirety. So as a piece of art it is fitting that you immerse yourself in the full opus. 🤔 🧐 Besides, Sarah, nearly everyone watching you has already heard the songs a million times so are in no position to quibble. I think most like me just want to be in the company of a fellow fan enjoying the music. Def Leppard fans are Chill man! It's the Babymetal fans who are apparently very intense on CZcams.

Yeah Phil Collen is great and all but.. won't replace my love for Steve Clark. I mean biased and all my favorite guitarist go as followed Allen Collins (Lynynrd skynyrd), Slash, Steve Clark.. NO ONE yell at me cause other people belong in other places again my opinion is biased. So no Phil. Lol. He is amazing though. Needs to invest in a shirt definitely. And thank you, I will do the songs I know so next week will be photograph and too late for love. Also sorry I like testing my ear at the guitar solo so it's still happening hate it's old for you but I like it. Hope you dont leave cause of that but.. Much love.
Hi Sarah, it's not that guessing the soloist is boring, just that Phil does almost all of them, but I guess that just means picking out the Steve solos will be harder, therefore more fun all round. I think it is also fun identifying Steve's big riffs too. For instance, yesterday's Rock Rock is so clearly a classic Steve Riff that the strut and swagger he had live when playing it is stuck in my mind.
So anyway, the only way I'll stop following your Def Leppard journey is if you asked me to!😭😭😭
Regarding your favourite guitarists list. Well I don't believe in a definitive best list anyway. I prefer to think of it as a pantheon of greats and there is always room for someone new. Slash, Steve and Phil are in my list too obviously 🤔🤩 but off the top of my head so would James and Kirk from Metallica (hands down riff master and most skilled composer of a solo respectively), Brian May, Luke Morley of Thunder, Emppu from Nightwish, Johnny Ramone, Angus AC/DC, Jim Root - Slipknot, Dimebag - Pantera. I'll halt there as we'll be here all day.
I think my favourite guitar TONE in a solo is Scotty Hill's from Skid Row. No idea what pedals he used but his solos really wail.
One of these days I might manage to encourage you to check out some Metallica. I guarantee you'll love it!

I can't believe I have spent 2 hours wracking my sun addled brain to choose the perfect song for a first time listener. I should have just remembered the tag line from my favourite movie during the 80s - Highlander ........ "There can be only 'One'!!!"
'One' is the Metallica song I would love you to listen to Sarah!! Definitely a masterpiece. Great riffs from James, beautiful lead work from Kirk, intelligent and powerful anti war lyrics. Basically Metallica summed up in 'One' song. If this doesn't make you want to hear more then you probably wouldn't like it anyway. Simple. Can't believe I wrote a list ...... and forgot to put this on it!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Nevermind got there in the end! 🤦♂️🤷♂️ Incidentaly, you know when someone poses the question "which song would you pick to explain what Metal is to an alien or something?" - well, this would be my choice for that too! Correct on both solos. On this album, they fired Pete during which most of the album was finished, and brought Phil to add solos on few songs and add BVs. All the rhythm guitars were basically all laid down already by Steve and Pete.
Rock Rock is a great rocker about just as title suggest, and yes, Stagefrighr is def about banging groupies...."headline act around the back, is what I'm thinking of" ... classic!
Finally, yes, would love to see you react to the songs you already know, ya cutie!!!
