Evolutions and alot of xy/sun and moon was printed very heavily.
But Tons of people opened it. Not a lot of people bought it to sit on. People were opening evolutions for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Rudy called it in this video about XY Evolutions. Prices have corrected back down to $600-$700 due to the Pokemon TCG bear market. I am looking to add more sealed products to my inventory at this time. In 5 years these prices will look like a steal.
Rudy saved me from selling my boxes at $1000. Sure they're only around 700-800 now, but they will appreciate even more in the future especially when this bear market is coming to an end.

What's wild is I woke up this morning with a random urge to open Evolutions and pulled the reverse Charizard out of the only sleeved booster I opened. Not the last card to finish off my master set, but damn close so I convinced myself to keep the rest sealed long term. Literally had the conversation in my head this morning. Then I log in to youtube and here's my guy with a brand new video talking about Evo going up.
I got a case of Cosmic Eclipse right as stores were running out of supply from the last orders they could make and paid $97 each with taxes. So glad I did.....and so glad I traded a set of those eeveelution sams club tins for a box of Evolutions I kept sealed

I opened so so so many evolutions boxes and all them Charizard's I pulled sold for more than the booster boxes. So many sealed boxes were opened for the same reason. May have been printed to oblivion, but it was also opened to oblivion too.
Now 750-800 a box
I am just happy I have a full complete set of Evolutions, all cards NM to M. Glad I was able to collect before all the hype.
I found a sealed box in my garage that I forgot to open because I wasn't interested enough in the box at the time.

Bought 2 sealed XY evolutions booster boxes for $500 each, a couple months ago. I Almost bought a sealed case but settled for 2 boxes instead. I bought 2 XY evolutions booster boxes, 2 vivid voltage, and 2 darkness ablaze. I wish i had bought a couple more XY evolutions booster boxes aha.
I still clearly remember at University....seeing some kids in the bus with some cards...was so happy thinking "those kids are playing magic". Noticed they were pokemon cards and I was sad. Oh well.

Evolutions isn't the only XY set that went up. XY base set is currently about $1000 and Furious Fist is about $700.
@@jerkygastropub7845 Well, technically most XY sets are still relatively affordable. Primal Clash, Roaring Skies, Steam Siege (don’t chose Steam Siege), Roaring Skies, Most of them cost about $300 to $400. The problem with most of those is that they had a large print run. So you’ll need to wait longer. XY Base Set, Flashfire, and Phantom Forces Where comparatively smaller, which is one reason they have gotten so high.
@@jerkygastropub7845 I've heard good things about it. I believe that it came out the same time as Evolutions to celebrate the 20th anniversary. Unfortunately it was completely overshadowed by Evolutions and I haven't heard many people get very excited over it. If it's cheap enough, it couldn't hurt to pick it up.
Yeah, I popped too early when I got rid of my Dragon Ball Super Secret Rare cards. Sold my Son Goku, the Awakened Power for $350, cause I saw I could make a $150 profit and thought the price was going to burst around $350-400. It now sits at $1000+ raw. Same with Son Goku and Vegeta, Apex of Power. I’ll never make that mistake again.

I was so negative about modern pokemon, and I only targeted vintage stuff. Rudy has taught us all to keep an opened mind. I was able to get some xy boxes, but man I was curious to see what Rudy's bathroom was going to do. 😂 I love the Rudy dude dash

In terms of stock investing evo was setting a new support line at 400-500 then we saw a jump to $900-1000. This may be the price where a new RL is set before jumping again or it could very well retrace 10-20% but even then like Rudy mentioned the box will stabilize 700 range.
The big key factor to take into account is a possible release of an evolutions 2 (not reprint) set this fall. If the pokemon company decides to do another evolution type product then the box price will hit $2K for sure. Collectors are eagerly waiting on the news if this is the case. I've been hearing rumors of a neo set reprint it can definitely be the contents of an evolution 2 type of set. A neo reprint will drive the WOTC counterparts insane in terms of value.

@@chrisgonepro9648 I would hold until the fall set announcement. If that set is meeh then you can sell but if that set is the possible evolution 2.0 set then evolutions is going to get more interest. The price of the PSA 10K zard is back at $5k+ and it's going to ensure the value of the box while the other cards in the set have picked up steam in PSA 10 prices. People who came back in 2020 for pokemon will have XY evolutions as their base set since 1st ed-to-unlimited base is too much for the regular and even hardcore collectors.

Maybe my memory is fuzzy but didn't the solds on ebay hit the 700 to a 1000 range at the tip of the first rocket up for a sec before stabilizing back down to 450-500? If so then this is the second rocket and leg up to build that and as Rudy said the $700 point as a new solid base.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying however, this problem is unprecedented. All of the hype surrounding the Pokemon bubble is crazy right now. This will burst as the hype dies down. It may never go down to 100 a box but it will most definitely go down and settle. They are still putting evolution into products that have yet to release. The real problem is the influencers, all of a sudden getting into Pokemon, they are making the market jump because of this. Logan Paul, etc are the problem. They got in and will get out just as quick. Now because of this hype all of the Sneaker flippers are buying Pokemon products. Every channel is mentioning Pokemon, Pokemon is everywhere once again. They really have launched the bots onto anything that can make money. It is sad but true. When they hype dies down you will be able to return to normalcy. but who knows really. I just don't think this is because of undervalue etc. Look at the PSA/BGS number they are extremely high. 8000+ for evolutions charizards. Its a bad time to be a Pokemon fan. Keep up the great work. DO MORE POKEMON. Lol

Rudy, you should see the prices on some of the Sun & Moon singles. The "waifu" cards have TRIPLED or QUADRUPLED in price! Their price patterns would make an interesting discussion, seeing as many of them weren't very difficult to get in boxes. Full arts for Lusamine, Lillie, Mars, and MANY more have gone from as low $5 to as high as $250! It's insane!
It is weird, because I am seeing raw cards on TCGplayer & Ebay sell for more than graded examples ($150 avg versus a recent $60 PSA 9 on Ebay.)
By the time your graded full art trainers come back in about 10 months, who knows where the price will be at?
Also, one of the main gainers in this category, Ultra Prism Lillie, was historically ~$20 before shooting up near $200.
Me a a few weeks ago planning to sell one of my cases. Me now: ima wait a few more months, at least maybe until the 25th set comes out to see where these prices go. :D

I haven't sold a single Evolution's pack. I keep hunting for tins or boxes to open and toss the packs in my closet! I smile when I see the noobs opening the packs on Instagram still and going look I got a Pikachu!!!!! Keep opening the product! My sealed product will be worth so much more in a year!
That's exactly what happened to me, it hit 500, then went down to 400, caught me in a bull trap and now it's at 1000 and I'll probably never own one again. Such is a learning experience 😅
On that note, how do people feel about small tears in the seal of a booster box? Mine had one and it was one of the reasons I didn't want to hold on to it and potentially buy it back in the future if it cooled off.

There are some sets that I can understand being $1000 for a booster box. Evolutions is not one of them. This makes no sense to me.
