I've got a Climber I bought in 1976. It was my EDC for many, many years, like until 1998. I still carry it from time to time. It's got a great selection of tools. I put plus scales on a few years ago because I always like to have a pen. Perfect little knife.
Dude I've got every single one of those some even look to be even older but they haven't been used for a while because the tools are hard to open i really like the videos you make about the dates of those Knifes thanks Dan 👍
I have that camper from my grandfather both blade broke and he refilled them now they are like super narrow wharncliffe blades it has metal tweezers though.
Hi, great and helpful video. New in this, just boat a used victorimox knife, and I can not finde on web what model is. Please help me if you can and know. So the knife has all tools that new climber has but without a hook, or all the tools that has spartan model but plus scissors.
My Dad bought me a Climber in 1982. It didn’t have the key ring or multipurpose hook and the corkscrew was fluted. Any idea of the actual year it was made from? I know I had it in 1982 but doesn’t the absence of the key ring etc make it older?? Unfortunately, it was stolen in 1987 whilst I was in University. I now have a Climber. Also, why did they get rid of the fluting in the corkscrew?
The corkscrews are sourced from France, and I think it was just a change in the production with The supplier. The climber you're describing is consistent with those made between 1975 and 1982. Tfw! Cheers!
Swiss Army Dan Yes, thanks Dan. I remember the red box it came in. All my friends at school loved it. ....suffice to say, you can’t take knives to school today. Lol Would it have been called a Climber back then? When did the key rings come in?
@@nigeace the key ring was introduced in 1968. over the timeline they have released versions of their knives with their without the bail or keyring. After thinking about it, I believe the model you have would be called The Traveler (discontinued). I believe the modern naming system showed up some time in the mid 70s.
Swiss Army Dan why didn’t my Traveler have a key ring if I had it in 1982....a bit weird?? I can’t remember if it had a sewing hole in the awl....from memory, I think it did.
Swiss Army Dan Are you sure it would be a Traveler as there was no nail file? My old ‘82 knife is the same as the Climber, but with no hook and no key ring.

Nice collection!! You must have spent a fortune on these knives but I'm sure it's worth it.
