    I had sent out my Mechanic after 30 years of daily carry for a blade swap, Victorinox had completely rebuilt my knife and send the parts back. Absolutely amazing. 2 1/2 week turnaround.

    What a result! I'm in the UK, so the knives go back to Switzerland for assessment/repair. They are gone for about three to four months, and they generally only swap like for like , you got an exceptionally good service there !

    Wow that was an awesome warranty experience! I recently had a great experience in Canada as well. I had a Swiss Tool Spirit X which was a little too stiff on the pliers to open and close with one hand, and I just sent it back to have them take a look at it and they sent me a brand new on that works perfectly. About a 3 week turnaround time as well.

    I think they are beyond awesome as I am sure a lot of people take advantage of their goodwill and buy a cheapo damaged one on ebay and then send it in. That is a $100 knife. They should ask for a sales receipt.

    • @HammerIIHammer
      @HammerIIHammer  Před rokem +1

      Yes agree, I think there is probably a lot of that, Im sure they keep a log and if name/mailing address show up a lot it would raise flags you would hope anyway. I was very surprised they went this far above and beyond for sure, I though the would have replaced the knife blade and cleaned it up or sent maybe a super tinker etc something more similar. They really did more than needed, but that's why I am very fond of all of their products, along with leatherman. Both seem to really stand behind their products. Thanks for watching.

    Victorinox repair service is outstanding. In 3 years I have sent 4 Swiss Army knives in for repair, each time with exceptional results. These SAK s I sent in were purchased damaged from eBay or flea markets. The charge is mainly shipping, with a minimal repair service charge. My only recommendation is do not overdo it, meaning: sending 50 items per week in, just to turn around and resell them. They will shut that down ( they pretty much state that in fine print ). Other than that, their service is outstanding.

    They should've been able to replace the parts. Even though it's been discontinued because I just sent them an almost 29 year old knife and they're supposed to be replacing the parts. It's a Deluxe Tinker or Tinker of some sort I think.

      Wenger scales are no longer made. That's why they left the knife whole and sent it back with a closest equivalent replacement.. Once the scales are taken off, they can't be reattached and be guaranteed to stay on.

    I’ve seen on CZcams tube and other places, knife experts seem to talk down victorinox blade steel saying it’s very soft. What’s your opinion

    • @HammerIIHammer
      @HammerIIHammer  Před 2 lety

      Hi I am no knife blade expert, but I do use a LOT of knives, I can tell you what I know. They use Inox steel which is a mix of stainless with a high chromium content, which is why the blades are very shiny. It is very resistant to rusting. But yes it is a softer steel which is good and bad; good because it is much easier to sharpen quickly and easily than all the new super steels, but bad because it can bend and break easier making it not great for etc batoning. I personally really like the steel victorinox uses because it resists rust and is easy to sharpen, which is what I want in a multifunction pocket knife. If I am going camping or will be cutting a bunch of boxes or plastic straps or rope or batoning etc I would bring a different knife along also. But for 95% of peoples daily functions it works great, cutting paper or an occasional box/tape/zip tie/loose string on a shirt/open letters etc. there is negatives and positives to ALL products including knives and there will NEVER be a perfect knife for everyone in all situations. You have to figure out which ones work in which situations for you. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

    • @marcdee4427
      @marcdee4427 Před 2 lety +1

      @@HammerIIHammer yes I agree, but I also heard that the steel is tough and springy where as hard steels can be brittle which can lead to chipping of the edge and they can snap in some cases . Victorinox steel is tough corrosion resistant and easy to sharpen in the field , wher would a soldier sharpen an extra hard steel in a jungle or the desert 🌵. I think victorinox knows how to produce a reliable usable steel for the worlds military’s by now. It’s great 👍🏻 steel in my opinion. Thanks for coming back to me enjoy your camping trip

    • @HammerIIHammer
      @HammerIIHammer  Před 2 lety

      Yes absolutely, forgot to mention that, they will bend a bit before breaking which is great to a degree and you are also 💯 in that some of the very hard super steels will chip. Really depends on your intended use of the blade as to which knife to use. The Victorinox Soldier is a great knife and in multiple militaries throughout the world it is now the standard issue. Thanks

    • @ironman2326
      @ironman2326 Před rokem

      I have several Swiss Army knives. Their steel is not as hard as some other bigger pocket knives (ex: Benchmade Griptilian), but it is really rust resistant and sharpens up very nicely.

      @@HammerIIHammer "Inox" isn't a specific grade of steel, it is just French for "stainless" (it's the same in Spanish too I think. The German equivalent is "rostfrei").

    DISGUSTING.
    Just because I live in a tiny country (Malta), Victorinox is not responding to my messages I leave on their website for warranty issues.
    The pint of the reamer/punch on my Soldier 08 model broke off while piercing wood. It seems that Victorinox doesn't really honor its lifetime warranty for other small countries.

    I did a comparison video on the warranty experiences with several of the companies to make multi tools and knives. Out of all the companies Victorinox was the absolute worst experience. In fact, it was so bad that everybody in my family swore and never buy another product from that company again. You can always check that video from my channel. I'm not going to be The Annoying kind of person to leave links on your video. All that being said I'm glad you had a good experience. Our experience was horrible.
