    At 4:32 I commit a moral sin and refer to the Phillips as a corkscrew. AHHHH!!!!!!

    I've been into knives/SAKs since I was a young kid and I'm 38 now. I thought the nail files were a waste for the most part, up until several weeks ago I pulled out a Wenger that my sister had gotten me several years ago and used the file and it actually worked pretty good! Then I saw a video by another CZcamsr about the "underrated Mountaineer for EDC" and he sold me on it, over the Climber too, and all because of the file. Can be used as a nail file, metal or wood file, or metal saw. Also cleans the fingernails and can be used for Philip's head screwdriver. 6 tools in one! Now I really don't want to be without the nail file.

    Dan, the 3-layer is probably my favorite species of SAK. Definitely pocket friendly, but with lots of ability. I think you need a Pioneer X to flesh out that skimpy Alox segment in an otherwise sweet collection.
    Now then, you've covered the Solamente Solo SAK's and the Trifecta SAK's; I think it's time for the delightful Deuces to get their due. I hope to see some love for the Alox Cadet, a genius design for a SAK. Yes? Feels like a single, but acts like a double....
    Bring on the two layer tour!

    The Climber is my favourite 3-layer Victorinox Swiss Army Knife and I have four of them. If I could, I'd replace every scale set with a plus-scale one on every model I own, but that would be quite expensive. One of my Climbers does have plus scales though.

    Nice collection of three layers! I've been carrying a Wenger Traveler for years. Probably my favorite SAK. I play guitar too, and use the file to shape my nails for hybrid picking. I have several Wenger Tetons as well (same tool set as traveler but swaps the corkscrew for a phillips and the file for a small clip point blade) but I prefer the Traveler.

    I know that this is an older video so you might not see this comment. I have two of the first knife that you showed with the Elinox stamp. One was my fathers and one was mine. His is in a display case on my wall and the other is still occasionally carried by me. They were purchased in an open air market in Saudi Arabia in 1961 or 62. (US citizens but my dad worked for an oil company.) I still remember the price - 7 rials which was about $1.40. I was about 7 years old at the time.

    Dude!!! you play the guitar??? jajajaja what a coincidence!!! I play classical, and as you have this love for SAK´s. Great set of 3 layers. Got say I totally go crazy for the ones with the bails, I just love that feature, makes them look even better. And those yellow scales... and the mod... wow!!! gorgeous!!! like, like, like.

    This is a great vid that makes me go aarggggg! So many great SAK's were discontinued! 'The Yeoman and Trail Guide were excellent ideas cast aside to the likes of Swiss Bianco That bugs me. And the 93 awl is wonderful mod. Thanks for the link. I've added over 30 of your vids to my watch latter list -doing some catching up! Good stuff!

      I don't know how it works but if Vx gets a cut of the action from outfits like SB, then its probably more lucrative to turn some models over to them to market as "special runs". Just guessing.

    As far as nail file goes, I'd rather have it than a small blade simply because I don't need redundancy in a single tool. That said, I think Victorinox needs to flip them around to face the other way on all of their knives (not only the Delemont series) to avoid scratching the blade.

    • @swissarmydan9354

      Honestly! As a student; I don’t use the knife much (duh!) but the small blade even less so
      A small nail file would be the best (that’s why I got me a Rambler) imo, I think the Delemont line has them a ton though!

    So hard to think of carrying a 3LYR SAK. I came from the Leatherman side, with an original for years, then a Wingman, but am trying a Vic. Sportsman. I really like it a lot, with the matte nylon scales. Now I'm thinking of a Fieldmaster/Huntsman. I'd miss not having scissors, and I'd love a saw. Hope to EDC it. The Ranger fascinates me, too, but might be too thick. Should try them all at some point. But thinner seems nice.

      Here it is almost a year later, and my only three layer SAKs are a Mechanic and a Farmer. Lots of two layer 84’s, 91’s, a 2003 Soldier and my Huntsman I ended up going with. And counting! Oh, can’t forget 58mm. Take care.

    • @swissarmydan9354
      @swissarmydan9354  Před 7 lety

      Some sellers will include pen, but usually you have to buy them separately. I bought the Pens,Pins, scissor springs, T&T, keyrings, mini SD all from the same place and combined shipping. Pretty cheap if you shop around but it is kind of a commitment if you don't have that many SAKs....
