A Louisiana school gave kids a biblical advice book comparing sex to slavery (Livestream)

- Students at Lessie Moore Elementary in Louisiana were given books equating premarital sex to slavery and urging them to convert to Christianity, all because a local church was given permission to come on school property and target children.
The book in question? The Life Book, an evangelical favorite.

Why are these people pushing this sexual material on young kids? And they call everyone "groomers"
Visiting someone in NW Arkansas this month, and at a Farmers Market, there were nutjobs with 6ft tall blowups of aborted fetuses. Little kids everywhere. These folks love unborn babies, but couldn't care less about kids. Demented.
Well, it is Louisiana and there very well might be teenagers in Third grade.
If people are allowed to come onto campus and hand out reading material to 1-3 graders, why didn’t the school send out a permission slip to the parents prior to this event? And notice that they weren’t trying to grab right-wing media attention.
Exactly, on one hand they say these kids are too young for sex ed but then turn around and hand them this book.
Teaching teens about gender identity is somehow terrible. (Something relevant to that age group)
But handing books about sex to 3rd graders is fine.
The double standard is evident and mildy disturbing.
Sex is nothing like slavery. The Bible actually condemns sex.
Damn I need that on a shirt.
True. Not a bad word on slavery but any romance bad.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 You win the internet today.
Yes, that is true. I'm bought up in the 50th and 60th. We were Catholic but my mother was brought reformed. We learned that sex was dirty and filthy. That you only had sex to get children when you had enough children and in between children you don't have sex. I remember that the birth control pill came available in 1963 in my country
The bishop forbid it but many woman got it right away. It is time in the US that parents talk with their children about sex Explain what it is and when you should have it, instead of letting them get their adduction on the street. Safes a lot of teen pregnancies and abortions.
Maybe you should read Song of Solomon and stop spreading your misinformed, cherry-picked, perception.
I'm not into religion, but your comment is highly inaccurate.
anyone who is named Uncle G. and says he loves teens .... should be on an offender list.
Such a red flag!
I'm Uncle G and I'd like to live in your neighborhood, but first I need you to sign this petition...
Or g for gaetz !
Oh, he is!! Just under a different name.
Offender lists should be unconstitutional. Unless you’re gonna have a register for ALL felonious crimes, then don’t have it at all. The list comes with, most of the time, unnecessary stigma and borderline unconstitutional consequences. That said, yes some absolutely need to be on a list of some kind (a small amt of people even for life), but there should always be a way to get off the list after a period of time.
Remember, these are the people who are worried about indoctrination. Can't make this stuff up.😂😂
💥💯💥💯💥💯💥
They went into school and gave smut to 8yr olds? Bizarre.
The fact it was Gideons. The sect known for falling over themselves to put bibles in motels, the more run down the more opportunistic.

You read my mind!
i dread to think how many lives have been ruined by guilt and shame induced by religion - quite apart from the physical abuse.
Absolutely! I was brought up EXTRA Catholic, and as soon as I could, I behaved badly (in my parents' view) and lied with amazing fluency and confidence. Blimey, they wouldn't even have imagined what I got up to when I left home for university in London. Good times!

Slavery is being forced to endure a pregnancy to term when after birth the baby is destined to die quickly, or worse, having severe health issues such that the person will have to remain under care for life. Slavery is a cycle of unlivable wages or non-competes locking people into unlivable wages. Slavery is what actually is occurring in our prison systems - especially private ones.
Yes!
Spot on!
Logic and religion are incompatible.
And depending on where their stock investments are placed, the higher-ups at Journey Church and every Baptist ministry in central Louisiana can't be trusted to care.
I'd just add that slavery is also being forced to undergo a pregnancy you don't want, even if the pregnancy is healthy.
What I learned from all this is that the adults who created this book think way too much about teens and sex.
I think people are too obsessed with sexual imagery in general.
Every damn advertisement that depicts a “sensual” message.
In a state like Louisiana, why is nobody concerned with making sure the food those children have access to is lean enough not to give them chronic health problems by the time they're middle-aged?
Guaranteed they've been convicted of sexual assault.
Uncle G loves God and loves teens? Sounds like a youth pastor. Run!!! Run for your life!
Ha,ha,ha 😂
Can you imagine the reaction of Evangelical Christians if the people doing that were Catholic nuns or Muslim Imams handing out either Catholic or Muslim literature.
I bet they would be very upset.
They sound like Chick Tracts.
That chick tracts guy was pure evil.
I think they would be in agreement.
@@needtoknowbasis3499 I suppose, it would depend on the topic.
I love Chick Tracts so much. 😅
Can you imagine their reaction if someone said "not everyone has to identify as a man or woman" or "you can identify as non binary".
The fact that they think teenagers still write in cursive
The fact that they think K - 3rd grade kids can read and understand cursive.
Isn't cursive part of the massive conspiracy to make kids gay?
Worked at a high school, kids love the fact that they can type notes faster than the teacher can speak. They are just waiting for better math symbol programs and then they won't have to type up maths notes either. Yes you can do it in Excel faster than a teacher can speak but excel is pretty much banned in ordinary maths classes, for a good reason.
I proved that the difference between any 2 squared numbers is their sum multiple by their their difference. It took 90 seconds to test 2.5 million difference numbers, I upgraded my Excel to the 64 but version.
I literally hate it when people compare something they don’t like to slavery
I know what it's like to hate something, but when you do it literally, that must be a whole nother level. Do tell.
it’s basically slavery when they do that
These booklets literally say Christianity is slavery. lol
The Bible is proslavery. It admonishes slaves who are beaten and abused, to return to their masters for more abuse.
They're not anti-slavery. They're anti-'bad'-slavery. Work (as a slave) for god, not for the naughty naughty devil. I know he seems cooler than Uncle G, but 'C'mon kids'.
Could you imagine the uproar if any other religion (or non-religious group) gave students books mentioning anything about sex! 😐 Especially at that age. There would be protests and so much rage!
So, protest! The main reason this is happening is because good people in this country do nothing.
You can't have slavery without the cooperation of the local religions.
Aaaannnd THIS!!!!
No way. I would have flipped out if my kid came home from school with that.
As someone with a copy of this book: chuck it out the window ASAP.

UGH! In my elementary school, the Gideons came to our classroom and passed out New Testament Bibles to the entire class! We had Jewish students, FFS!
In the UK, we envied the USA for not allowing prayer in public schools, whereas in the UK in state schools, religion is shoved down our throats. Every school has to provide worship of a broadly Christian nature in daily assembly. How do schools managed to get away with not doing that as my last school did? The main hall wasn't large enough for the entire children, so only one year at a time could. So it didn't have to be daily. You would think only a Conservative Government would be mandating this but Labour Governments are just as bad if not worse.
@@lemsip207one of our founing beliefs is separation of church and state. However, I have been hearing more and more, how the right are trying to "abolish the Johnson amendment." It's a ditect slap in the face to the first amendment of our constitution.
If they crumble the first amendment, they will loose the second.
That happened at my public elementary school in the 1970’s. Gideons came every year and handed out miniature bibles.
I would have ripped a page out of my copy and used it as a tissue.
@GothicVioletVixen No written constitution on the UK, but there is a unspoken agreement to entwine church and state. It takes a lot to undo that prevailing attitude as they think you want to ban religion rather than make it a private matter.
"But religion is important to some people," they bleat. Mandated religion is necessary to no one and should not be important to them. But some fanatics cannot practice religion happily unless everyone is forced to.
Thank you for showing how messed up this book is, let alone the fact it was given to elementary students!
Separation of church and state huh? America is going to shit. More than likely those same kids aren’t being taught that at home even if their parents do go to church.
They usually aren't. I can't tell you how many people think it's the school's job to teach everything from proper behavior to tying shoes.
One of the most important questions for Journey Church is how young of children they wish parents would talk to about people sleeping around the way their booklet seems to accuse everyone of by default.
I wish this was a F'n joke.
Watching from 🇨🇦 far too much American news should be a joke but isn't.
Me too. Unfortunately, I live close to Pineville and it's all too real.

The side should have already been chosen. It’s a PUBLIC school funded by taxpayers.
Hello fellow kids. Isn't it fun to not touch ourselves. Radicalation!
Ah, the Gideons... A cult named after another mass polygamist tyrant.
Was Gideon one of the Latter-Day Saints, by any chance?
My local church has these. The 54 million distributed figure probably counts a lot that are sitting around in piles or people holding onto the waiting until they can find someone to evangelize to.
I’ve never seen this book in particular before, but I’ve been pressured to take mini-bibles before. They either get lost and never seen again or they get shoved underneath furniture somewhere to collect dust and cobwebs. The same thing probably happens to a lot of these books too.
This reminds me of he male mentality I faced the time I first applied for a credit card back in the late 1970s. I was divorced and working a full-time job for a number of years and applied for what was then called a Master Charge credit card at my bank. I received a notice I was denied so I went to the bank to inquire why I was denied. I was told by the bank male person that since I was a divorcee that I might get pregnant and not be able to pay my bills. The thought behind this that since I had known sex with my ex-husband that I would now be open to having sex with other men and be careless enough to get pregnant was almost a given to him. I was furious and slammed my fist on his desk telling him that was not a sufficient reason and he'd better come up with a better reason. He disappeared behind a door and when he returned, he told me I'd have my card within 3 days. Women were and still are thought to once have sex, we will just do it with anyone without care or concern for our personal integrity. BTW, I never have missed a payment on any bill or debt in my entire adult life and am now retired after working 49 years and I did it all on my own.
Meanwhile, there were women that the REASON for their divorce was the didn't WANT sex every time their husband did, but the husband would accept a no. Good on you for getting out and fighting for yourself; wasn't easy, I'm sure, since it still isn't easy unless a woman gets the right degree and job.
I was in elementary school during the 60's. Yea, I know, I'm old. When we were in grade 6, the Gideons gave us new testement Bibles. The girls got white ones, and the boys' were red. I cringe about it now, but no one thought anything about it at the time. Mostly because it was a white, Christian, rural area. Now, my children and I are atheists so I guess it didn't work to make me religious.
The thing that gets me is these notes are mainly written in cursive. How many kids write cursive in school anymore? How many kids, even teenagers can read cursive? So the kids take these home to their parents who hit the roof and blame the school?
Right, my daughter can't read it well and I've shown her how to write it.

That degree of comfort with slavery, is both disturbing, and in tension with a lot of Christian theology.
The whole point of sin is that it is chosen, aka free will. Once sin is controlling the individual rather than vise versa, much of the concept and theology about sin falls apart.
If sin were to cause a person to lose volition, for what point would there be blame or punishment?

In the 1980's Gideon came on to my public high school campus, at lunch time IIRC, and handed out their bible. It was one of many things the ACLU noted in a letter sent to the principal, after an anonymous student complained because I'm not insane and it was suburban Atlanta in the 1980's. The principal complained bitterly in an address over the intercom but the morning prayer reverted back to a moment of silence and Gideon's never came back on campus.

One of the consequences of how many Christians (and others) approach this issue is they teach that all of these urges and actions are bad.
The kids who are raised this way never learn the difference between appropriate and inappropriate urges and actions, so they can't ask for help when they are either the victim or if they are having inappropriate urges.
Obviously, they also don't talk about consent, because they refuse to actually talk about the issue at all.
We are immature, animal-origin, evolutionary creatures -- naturally bellicose and quarrelsome, still largely subject to stimulus and response -- until we evolve further. Our immediate supervisors await the day when we take that Huge evolutionary Next Step and believe God, instead of believing IN god. To understand the teachings of Jesus -- not to know ABOUT Jesus.
We have been tasked with the progressive perfection of mankind -- and man kind includes ALL OF US; from the first human pair, unto the last man or woman, and -- for those who pass the faith test -- onto the afterlife. We are ONE Creation, potentially, everlasting.

I didn't know any better. 1986, the last line of the last episode of "The Love Boat": I hope you find ha piness with a newd irection."
Whoosh -- right past the censors. Today's Headline: WTF! Forecast for tonight: DARK Radar show some Russian Satans coming down from the pole
PS does Jean-Luc really stand for John Matthew Mark and Luke?
Good job, Louisiana. 🤦🏼♂️
Can someone check on uncle G‘s Internet history?
1:11 OH MY GOD I RECOGNIZE THAT. A church near my HS had a weekly lunch. One time at lunch, this guy started passing these books out. I was out of the room at the time (grabbing lunch) when this guy came in and passed out these books. I was confused by everyone holding these books and my friend gave me one of them, saying they were weird sex books and that the guy handing them out asked weird stuff to them.
They didn't even handwrite the annotations, every letter 't'. 'l', 'G', ... is identical indicating a font was used. I've seen this tactic used in physical mail advertisements before, and I question if anyone is actually fooled by it. Even if they did handwrite it, the fact that it would be printed on the page would give it away. I find these kind of tactics insulting.
Renewal by Anderson(window company) does this. "handwritten" adverts that they even personalized to the addressee pretty clearly targeting the elderly.
I'm surprised they gave them books. Does anyone in louisiana know how to read?
Aren't these the same weirdos that always say that "sex is a beautiful thing". Well if they say that, and they compare sex to slavery... logically, one can assume that they believe that slavery is beautiful. And considering how they also feel about workers' rights, I'd say that's very accurate
