  • Click to subscribe: bit.ly/Sub-CCxRC ☠☠☠ The Vaterra V100 rebuild project is nearing completion. I've got it running and just need a body to complete it. The total cost of the project so far is $125 - half the cost of a new RTR and this one has some hop-ups. Not bad! I had a Losi Brushless motor and Tekin RS Pro in one of my bins and was abel to add them at no cost to the project.

    nice job Tony.. Cool update.. You really got that car going for a good price.. Personally I am a Deans connector guy but I think the Traxxas connectors are pretty good too in my opinion.. Thanks for sharing bud.. Glad to see you back in front of the camera again.. :)

    Good stuff Tony. Very nice budget build. Those yellow connectors are called XT60 connectors. I have been using them on all my cars. Keep up the great videos!

      Thanks bud. It's been pretty painless. I did clean it up quite a bit as well using PB blaster and then re-lubed it all.

    nice jod on the budget build brotha. looks like it's gonna be pretty sick. and I'm very frigging jealous of the xmaxx. now I know we have to get together the next time I'm in Va. haha

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  Před 8 lety

      Thanks. I'm getting geeked about running it. It felt much more solid on the driveway than my hpi...so that was interesting. The Xmaxx is a beast for sure. Going to do a first impression video on it soon.

    I still have to button up a bit, but I crammed a Arrma blx granite 3s setup in my v100. It’s definitely going to need a good update to aluminum. 😂

    Just burned out my motor on my v100. I’m thinking about that tekin upgrade for esc, but I’m still looking for a good brushless motor. Any thoughts? I am trying to budget this out and have nothing for spare parts. Any advice is welcome

    great job on the budget build. hope you don't have magnets glued to your rear window. lol.

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  Před 8 lety +1

      Hahah n that would defeat the purpose wouldn't it. Maybe heavy tinting. Need to work on programming the ESC.

  • @GreenJeep1998
    @GreenJeep1998 Před 8 lety

    Just starting a build on one of these myself, but I'm not limiting myself as much budget wise. Most of the initial build will be parts that NEED to be upgraded like the driveshafts and shocks, as well as parts that would be easier to swap out now while it's broken down into a half dozen or so Ziploc baggies as well as putting the aluminum motor mount on it, since I plan to go brushless right away.

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  Před 8 lety

      +GreenJeep1998 very cool! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

    • @GreenJeep1998
      @GreenJeep1998 Před 8 lety

      +CCxRC I am curious, did you have to change anything on the steering from stock to use the Futaba servo on it? I'm thinking I might use one of the Savox short servos (125oz/in, .09 speed) and those use the Futaba style spline on the output.

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  Před 8 lety

      I did not have to change anything. It slipped right in and works great

    • @GreenJeep1998
      @GreenJeep1998 Před 8 lety

      +CCxRC Sweet, I was hoping what I heard was right.........kinda odd that Horizon would have a Futaba spline on one of their servos though.

      I had it already from the Gmade Sawback trade I made. I swapped it out of the crawler so I could put in a brushed motor and waterproof ESC.

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  Před 8 lety +1

      Thanks. I'm trying to be and keep it under what it would've cost new as an rtr. Haha. $125 added up quickly.

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  Před 8 lety +2

      I'm being careful not to hit the $250 mark of getting it as a new rtr. The $125 added up quickly, but they are nicer parts than the stock ones and I'm still well below the price.

      I'll be honest and say, "I don't know." These are my first on-road cars, so I don't know what motors or gearing people are using and if they change for drifting etc.
