  • Sweet! More on-road RC excitement rolled into the RC Driver workshop and this street machine is the new Vaterra 1972 Chevy Camaro SS. Vaterra has licenced this iconic muscle car from Chevrolet and did it justice with some amazing scale detail. Topping off the cool muscle car replication are chrome mirrors, chrome grille, molded rear spoiler as well as front and rear LED lights. Under the beautiful body is Vaterra’s proven V100-S on-road chassis which is all-wheel drive. Yes, we know the real car is rear wheel drive, but that style of driveline isn’t as easy to wheel in RC. So the AWD driveline makes ripping around the roads super easy for anyone. The car arrives completely ready to run with electronics and the body is of course painted and detailed. All you need to do is pick up your choice of a battery and a charger!

    I'm more a Tamiya/Kyosho guy (just for the scale-looking fact) but i must admit that

    Vaterra has done an excellent job with that model . Superb!

    I love on road cars I have an hpi sprint 2 flux that is pretty quick and I put the orange 69 Z28 body on it from the brushed version because I liked the classic Camaro better than the 2010 but wanted brushless power. I don't tend to drive it as often as my trucks because you have to go out and find a smooth level place to run it whereas with the trucks I can turn them loose right outside the house.

      I miss my 1978 Camaro. It would be nice if someone made a 1978-1981 Camaro with old-school wheels and tires-maybe Cragar SS rims instead of today’s low profile setups.

    I owned one of these (1971 Z28 real deal) back in the 1980's. LT1 Corvette engine with 365 hp, 4 speed Rock Crusher Muncie transmission, 4:11 posi-track rear end. Ran mid 11's in the qtr mile. If this thing can bring back some of the thrill of driving the real thing, then I'm all over it!

    • @DystrophicEvolution
      @DystrophicEvolution Před 5 lety +1

      I've used a Vaterra Mustang body on my TT-01 by adding body posts to the front bumper because the V100 is just too low where I run them. Hopefully it's just as easy for you with your TT-02. You'd have more fun with that Camaro body on your TT-02 by not scraping all the time. I plan on getting the green Camaro body soon for a hot rod rally car.

    If you upgrade the power you need to change the center drive shaft to the aluminum one. The plastic one is not a balanced part and will warp as soon as you put a brushless system in it. I never had any other problems with my v100 other than that.

      The information they give about the battery is a bit confusing. In the manual it suggests using the NiMh battery we showed. On the box the Power Stage bundle only highlights the 2S pack, but if you look at the listing for the ESC on the Horizon website it says its 2-3S compatible.

    I've been looking at those since Horizon Hobby debuted them some months ago .. it's one of Three that I have been debating on..
    1. Ken Block Hoonicorn Mustang by HPI
    2. Lotus Exige V6 Cup R by
    CARISMA RC
    3. This Camero 1972 with light's by Vatera
    All have peaked my interest, but reviews are very important .. the HPI Brand has parts every where and was awesome back when I carpet raced .. the Carisma is new to me and parts might be a little harder to find .. and the Vatera has alot of Brand Power in the parts area .. so whichever one I end up getting will have to be able to upgrade and work on.. what's your opinion???
    Thanks for the review and I'm hoping for your support on my channel as well ✌️😎👍 HFLPRCING

      @vmaxmercer Před 5 lety +1

      I have the HPI Hoonicorn, great chasis, details in the body are SPOT ON. The NiMh battery....sucks...but you can easily run a lipo. I run a 5000mah 2s and will get a good 20-25min of run time on it.

  • @austinn598
    @austinn598 Před 5 lety

    I bought a vattera but I immediately regret it since it cannot handle more than 50+mph with the plastic driveshafts it just breaks and the shocks are not oil filled, the chassis is harder to work on compared to my mad-speed, and my Tamiya builds, and this is way to expensive! Is more than $225?!? Mad-speed cost 115 and has a decent body but solid chassis with way better parts and quality. Also some parts are hard to get Because some of them are discontinued. So far it broke the most. But i can see people buy it cuse the body looks sick, but man i drove it alot since it was my first rc and its a pain compared to my newer ones

      You're not missing much as the once factory supplied battery is low capacity crap anyways. For the price, the cars should come with at least a 5000mAh. I give away those crap 1800mAhs to the nitro starter or airsoft users.
