    Port job is the first thing to do on a banshee. Go 115 thousands higher on the exhaust port. 160 thousands higher on the intake ports. Unshroud the transfer ports without narrowing it towards the intake inlets. Case port it to match the bottom of cylinders. Worm hole cylinders without ruining them or you will need to weld the hole by the rear base nuts. Should add 2-3 thousand rpm to your redline.😃

      If you aren't riding desert or dunes and need some torque, the banshee really responds well to is a single carb and single pipe along with RD400 rods and stock Banshee pistons (not blaster pistons or striker cranks if you want torque and reliability) Motofast did it the best but unfortunately they are out of business. They built engines for Grand National Cross Country riders Kim Kuhnle and Ricky Matteson. If you can find a Motofast single carb manifold or single pipe, buy it immediately.

    • @buckeyebanshee
      @buckeyebanshee Před 5 lety +1

      Rocky Mountain ATV MC I’m aware but including a lockout clutch as a top 5 performance mod just based off add pipes airbox carb mods is misleading. A lockout isn’t needed at all for simple bolt on mods. My banshee has airbox opened up single 35mm carb intake reeds pipes and cool head with 21cc domes for 93 pump gas and my clutch is still totally stock and doesn’t slip at all and doesn’t even have upgraded springs. Just my opinion, I’d have had suspension and widening as my number 1 performance mod as banshees suck bad in comparison with the new 450’s for handling.

    • @65Red
      @65Red Před 5 lety

      @@rmatvmc 4 mils do just fine with a driveline clutch kit w/ HD springs and Type F ATF. Much cheaper that way. Those lockout case covers that are required when using the lockout are $$$

      @@buckeyebanshee Those are good tips. What have you done to your suspension? I can't believe how rough these things feel haha. I rode a bone stock banshee the same day as this one and if you weren't on butter smooth sand, it was a rough ride.-Chase

    • @buckeyebanshee
      @buckeyebanshee Před 5 lety

      Rocky Mountain ATV MC Chase, I have Burgard +2 a arms and a durablue 2+2 rear axle to widen mine and I run works dual rate front shocks valved and sprung for my weight and XC racing and I have a stock rear shock revalved and resprung for my weight and XC racing by Jogaca suspension works out of Arizona I believe. I’d love to have some elka stage 3 all around or some fox floats up front with a podium rear but don’t have the money for it. Suspension is a must on a banshee though imo also upgrading the front brakes to yfz450 dual piston front calipers a 2008+ yfz front master cylinder and steel braided lines (all of which is a bolt on mod) to improve stopping. Go fast, stop fast I always say can’t have one without the other.

      Stock engine are not set for optimal performances. On a 2 strokes, casting have flaw and rough surfaces and the "timing" (size and height of cylinders windows/ports) is on the very safe side.
      To make a long story short, there is a lot of free HP in a stock engine to be "freed up".
      It's usually the most cost effective way to gain hp's.

      When properly set up, yes! I plan to mainly trail ride my mostly stock 1996 Banshee. All I have done is a 4 degree timing advance, shift improvement mods, a billet water pump gear, case saver, and a Pro-Design filter. It still lugs around pretty well the the stock carbs and pipes when tuned right. But when you want the power roll onto the throttle or blip the clutch and gas it and it's there!
