It's interesting how Florida law considers an "electric weapon", ie. taser the same as a firearm when the general public has one but it's considered "less than lethal" when they indiscriminately use one on us. Logical thought would be that if they are legally classed as the same weapon for us, cops would have to meet the same deadly force threshold to use a tazer on us as a firearm. The double standard is real.

In Germany, openly carrying even a fake firearm that looks like a real one ("Anscheinswaffe", roughly translates as "apparent weapon") is illegal. Precisely because it will cause fear and concern among other people and likely cause police calls that would end up being a waste of time for the officers.
Obvious fake firearms like nerf guns or other toy guns for children with an orange ring on their tip are not illegal to carry. If you want to transport such an "apparent weapon" with you, you have to have it in a sealed container, which is the same requirement for transporting real firearms.

Jeremy Dewitt is the best example of a bad person receiving bad luck. He did bad things that he recorded himself. When the police caught up with him, they seized his cameras, and eventually a FOIA request resulted in his own footage being put all over the internet. The bad luck was that it was released right in the middle of the pandemic, so even more internet eyes saw his footage than would have at any other time.
The worst part is that Jeremy Dewitt very likely would have become a police officer, if he had only paid for a fill up at a gas station. He gassed up his car, but forgot his wallet, so he flashed some kind of police auxiliary/training badge and promised to come back to pay for the gas in the morning. When he never returned, they reported him to the police, he got a conviction for impersonating an officer, and was then forever banned from becoming a cop.

How crazy is that that they so obviously know they're doing wrong but will sue for getting fired for it because they're usually allowed to do the wrong thing? It's gotta stop. He's a weirdo with some odd behavior and character flaws who doesn't always do the right thing. Big deal. I'll never understand why people hate on him to the absurd extent they do, like your "literal menace to society" assessment". I imagine it gives some folks an artificial feeling of superioriority when they point out the shortcomings and misdeeds of others, ignoring their own lack of perfection. Like the children in school who pick on others that are different. The kids have an excuse, lacking wisdom, knowledge, and maturity they don't know any better. You and all the other haters? No one can really blame Vidler for his frustration. Jeremy has been a thorn in Central FL for over a decade.
He does a lot of escorts for a wealthy religious org, and their high powered atty consistently played the system to keep Jeremy free.
By this point there had been MANY civilian complaints and police calls over Jeremy using his modified fake guns to intimidate or threaten people who failed to obey his orders immediately. There was a panicked woman and a man he tried to force off the road, just off the top of my head.
Jeremy had blocked major intersections and had provided escort for people racing on the interstate. He had been warned repeatedly for his behavior.
Note that this instant he is pulling his crap on Interstate 4, and that he never. Stops. Running. His. Mouth. By high school most people know its pointless to argye with a cop.
Did Vidler screw up? Yes. Is he guilty of police overreach? I would argue so. But is it understandable? Hell yes. Vidler was a hero to me for trying to make central FL safer. Jeremy and his bullcrap company terrorized drivers and made the roads even more dangerous.
Beyond all that the nitpick over the actuality of the weapon in this vid is silly. From a distance it looks like a real gun and that was Vidlers stance
