For all those people, who are complaining because of his english: Joci is coming from a poor family from the countryside, where most likely they didn't focus on foreign languages that much. Appreciate the song he is sending to us, and not his english skills. This is a Song contest, not a language skill contest.

Many people come from poor families still can and will learn English very well. Plus, he has been long enough in the industry to be able to learn English. I appreciate the song even if I cannot connect to it at all, however, not even trying to speak English is a shame indeed.

Since when is learning English a requirement to be in the music industry? He has a translator so there's very little getting in the way of communication. You remind me of some of my fellow Americans who think that immigrants need to learn English or get out when they've already struggled so much to get here and you're unfairly judging them on trying to learn a language

Is it weird that I find reading a bit easier than speaking? haha :) my mum speaks Hungarian and she talks to me sometimes but when I go to my grandmas I have to speak Hungarian and I struggle to answer what she says. I understand most of what she says but I can't respond, only with "nem" "igen" "nem tudom" "Szia" "jo reggelt" "jo este" "choci" :D I have a Hungarian fairytale book and I can read some of it because I read it in a way that sounds right to me and my mum says that it is right - "egyszer volt, hol nem volt" :D

English IS indeed the MOST important language in the world today, and is an absolute minimum to learn it for anyone who is not a native speaker of it. Plus, English is a very EASY language to learn compared to others. In an international song contest the audience should be able to sing along a good song, unfortunately, this song is VERY difficult to sing together with the singer...:( Nonetheless, a beautiful song.

William I love your questions and thank you for your comments on Joci and the song. I hope Europe will get behind of this song. The rap part is a beautiful prayer to GOD. The song makes me emotional and it is a beautiful example of Hungarian music. As we know gypsy music was always part of the Hungarian culture...William a message for you as for its qualifying chances...I'm writing this only for information. This will easily get through...it will be helped a lot by the Hungarians from Romania(1.2 million are living there), Serbia(300.000 in Voivodina), Ukraine( another 250.000 Hungarians are living there), Croatia, Austria...you know the countries where large communities of Hungarians are living after the second world war.( almost 3.5 million Hungarians are living around Hungary after the Trianon treaty. Only Slovakia where are 500.000 Hungarians cant vote because they aren't this year in the competition...but for the first time the hole Hungarian diaspora will vote in the same semi/final)....that is why I think will get trough easily...So this information I'm sending with love to you guys from wiwibloggs. As for Joci I really hope Europe will get behind this.He fully deserves it. Love your videos wiwibloggers and help him to be promoted. William you are an example for tolerance and that's why I think you should help this romani person to be promoted. Love you all from wiwibloggs

Joci's dramatic performance in Kyiv has done more good to his people and to Hungary than a BBC documentary. A great song and a fine artist. ALL contestants should sing in their own languages, and not in English, which is done in the name of popularity and commercial success on the global market. The result is disastrous: almost all songs sound the same, Eurovision style, they all look the same, Eurovision style, and we the public cannot tell one singer from another. Of course people want to understand the lyrics! - but that's what subtitles are for. The translated lyrics can also be published on the internet and can be enclosed in the mp3 packages on sale. When an artist performs in his or her national language, the song feels far better, it's only natural. Hungarian performers have done it before, and so have some Albanian, French and Italian singers, as well as some contestants from the countries of ex-Yugoslavia, Spain and Portugal. Interestingly, good songs with foreign lyrics sound intriguing and are much appreciated, as was the case of Rona Nishliu's Albanian song "Suus" in 2012, of Grupo Regina's "Bistra voda" from Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2009, sung in Serbo-Croatian, and of Salvador Sobral's winning performance last Saturday. How come everybody voted for a song in Portuguese which nobody understood? But they did.

First, I do not blame Joci for his English, as do the rest under Artsvik's video. I think that the English has no relation to the singer's abilities, his human and professional qualities and finally English is not a MUST
As for other singers who sing in English, I think it is not necessary a fluent English to understand and deliver a song in English.
P.S. We are not proffessional in MS office or Windows when we use it

Are you sure that they don't understand what they sing? I don't know about Torvald, but as for Artsvik you can see that she understand most of the questions, but she replies with a translator in order to be more confident, and maybe her oral skills are not good because of lack of practice??

Or there's the possibility that the artists might word something badly and it'll end up as a tabloid title, having a translator would avoid that issue

For the translator: He's not the first roma in ESC, In 2009 Czech Republic was represented by Gipsy.cz

I loved this song and its dance. It reflets the cultural diversity of Europe (even though racist conservatives do not agree with that). It is good to know about the story of this song. Thanks for sharing.

Íme a Eurovision Dalfesztivál 2017 következő győztese! Ez a dal nagyon, nagyon szép! A hivatalos videóklipp gyönyörű is. Szeretem Magyarország, és a magyar nyelv. Ezért tanulok magyarul itt Hollandiaban. Három hét mulva megyek Budapesten újra! Azt remélem, hogy ez a dal fogja nyerni a Dalfesztivált!

Here is the lyrics for those who doesn't understand Hungarian
    Joci Papai-Origo
    Origin
    Versions: #1#2
You need to close your eyes,
    so you will see me.
You need to know my soul,
    To conquer my heart.
If you don't need me, let me leave
    I was born a loafer.
    I had already suffered enough,
    but God sees my life.
    Yaloma lomma, yaloma lomma
    Yaloma lomma lomalom
    Yaloma lomma, yaloma nedinna
    Yaloma lomma, lomalom
Why did you lie to me that,
Doesn't the color of skin matter?
You know that I've brown eyes,
    It is invariably.
I'm not asking at you more
Get out of here, leave me!
    I don't wanna seeing you.
    I curse you forever.
    Yaloma lomma, yaloma lomma
    Yaloma lomma lomalom
    Yaloma lomma, yaloma nedinna
    Yaloma lomma, lomalom
God was talking with me, when I was 4 years old.
I knew only he can take care of me
I was practicing with it a lot like a samurai.
I can trust Him, he will always tell the truth
I can cry with Him, and he will show the way.
    This alliance will remain forever
We are inseparable, he is the most supreme treasure.
    Mysterious forces were in childhood.
They were afraid of him, he appears in the eyes.
The strings are attacked, the body is crying
You defend yourself unnecessarily, as if it is a poison in a instrument.
She is soaked it from people
you can hear the melody you know my name.
It's a long road, I've sores on my back
Tears of Thousand people are played in my guitar.
