VW Discover Media MIB2 hidden debug options

- How to take #screenshots, enter hidden green menu, check FEC/SWaP codes, enable debug overlays and more in Volkswagen Discover Media #MIB2 infotainment system in Volkwagen Golf MK7. This headunits is running SW: 0245 but these hidden developer features are also available in other software versions and should be available in other Infotainment systems like Discover Pro and Composition Media installed in various VAG cars.
After enabling developer mode with @OBDeleven-Official (instructions below) you can reboot the #VW Discover Infotainment system and then use developer debug functions.
For example to tak screenshot make sure that there's an SD card in SD1 port and the card is not read-only. Then press and hold MEDIA button for 2 seconds and wait for a sound confirmation, then release the button. There will be a screenshot placed on the SD1 card.
Here's a list of button shortcuts to use with MIB2 device:

Is anyone else having issues with their Car Play for iPhone since updating to iOS 15? My touch screen sometimes is not responding, or doesn't recognise my iPhone unless I reboot every time and sometimes the music is playing but no audio is heard etc, VW updated my software for the radio to the latest version available but the problem persists, super annoying!

May i ask you one question about my VW Polo MIB2, i have battery drain on my radio circuit. Got an helix sound system but i can't find where's my drain.
Cable are looking brand new, idk how do i have a drain, look's like something keep draining when my car is locked. When i unplug my infotainment fuse, drain's stop.
Any idea like MIB flash, or VCDS things i could do to find where is my drain exactly, what's causing this fault ?

-- I have a 2017 VW Golf R in the U.S. -- I have since removed the stock Fender Subwoofer and replaced it with an aftermarket subwoofer that plugs directly into the stock amplifier.
Since the stock VW Fender Bassman subwoofer driver is just 6", there is an EQ curve applied to the subwoofer inside the stereo MIB2/5F control unit, that protects the small 6" subwoofer from being overdriven as one turns up the stereo volume.
Have you seen anything inside this Developer Mode or the Green Engineering Menu where I could defeat or change this stock EQ curve?

Hi! Go to module 5F, Long coding, byte 4, and enable additional speakers. Save new coding and reboot by pressing volume knob for 10 seconds. Check if that helps.

I think that manual show DAB option.

Do you have any info on fixing a reoccurring blue screen saying emergency update? We are able to reset it and it works for about 10-15 mins but then shuts down and shows blue screen again. We’ve been to the dealer and called around but they are telling us to replace the whole radio.
One thing that you can try is to remove all SD cards and USB drives from the headunit. If filesystems on those are corrupted, they might cause such issues.
What vidéo format can the vw infotainement play?
Discover Media does not play videos at all... only Discover Pro which I don’t have access to at the moment.

This is a problematic issue for 2017 cars for sure.
Hey there, one question, favour to ask. You have posted many interesting videos but I need to ask you one more regarding this GPS unit: could you please post a video with the content of the navigation card? I was trying to create on navigation card for this the same unit...and I had no success , in the end I download whatever VW is making available but still no success. It will help me to see how is the software deployed on to the card, so will suffice even a photo of the card content taken on your pc. Thank you in advance Gelu
Check which Navi unit you have.
If it’s discover Media MIB2 (same as mine) you need original VW card (with correct CID) as it is the storage for the maps. If you have Discover Pro MIB2, then you can use any card as it is only needed for the update process when maps are copied to the headunit internal memory.

Why dose it say device not supported when i plug my Iphone into the USB socket ?
iOS devices does not work as mass storage (you can't use your iPhone same way as a thumb drive). If your cars system supports CarPlay and there's a valid license code installed, you should see CarPlay interface pop up.
Mr Fix, please i need helpon my b8 infotainment system come on at the start of the car. then the black screen shortly afterwards. And it stays black all the time . Done hard reset but no luck. Any suggestions. Thanks

@@mrfixpl Thankyou for getting back to me. My local garage has it and he plugged it in but couldn't find the fault on his Vcds. If i take it to vw their gonna probably change me a arm and a leg :)
So the problem is just the display (stays dark) or the whole infotainment system is off (no music etc.)?
@@mrfixpl Evening, the system come on for about 2/3 seconds at the start of the car then it's black all the time. No sounds or anything. The lights on the sides are on like the radio media phone etc. But no screen. Thanks

Do you have any idea how to get Google maps back on the screen? Lost my connection with it a few weeks ago. My golf mk7 has a Discover Pro device, connected with my Samsung S10.
Google Maps via Android Auto is missing?
@@mrfixpl Yes, I had it till a few weeks ago normal on my screen. Now it only shows the basic screen with the map of Europe, not the street view anymore. Car is connected with my Samsung S10 phone (android) and 'network' is active
@@jurgenvanberkum2726 are you sure you are talking about GoogleMaps via Android Auto, and not GoogleMaps via VW navigation system that requires internet connection provided by you phone?
Hello I have the same unit, when I press the media button it just stays stuck on “starting media” I can’t connect my phone. Took it to VW they said it needs a new unit!! £4,000 Sterling!!!
That's VW solution to everything - part out.
Start with enabling developer mode, then go into hidden menu and check if all installed FEC/SWAP codes are valid.

Dear mr-fix, I hope my question is not too hard to answer but I am dealing a very long time with an unknown mystery;
Sometimes(once a week) when I unlock or lock the car, I hear an very short but loud 'pop' sound from the speakers and it sounds to me like some 'electric voltage'(?) was released to the speakers.
Would replacing my infotainment help? because when I took it out I did not hear anything anymore.
It is an Golf mk7 build 2013/2014 with navigation and bluetooth so I guess it's an MIB1 Discover Pro(?), everything is functional (rear vw logo flip camera, auto parking(right side), detachable towbar)
Hi, I believe that early units had some issues with the amplifier. I've seen some info about no sound issue which was later fixed with software update. Maybe this relates to your problem as well?

Dealer sells codes and upload them into the unit.
Alternatively you can patch the unit and generate the code yourself.

@@mrfixpl thanks but the radio has gotten much worse. Now I don’t turn it on as it won’t turn off - even after turning the car off and exiting. Luckily the car has a platinum extended coverage on it.
