MIB Infotainment version check (MIB1 MIB2 MIB2.5 MIB2Std MIB2High)

- Check which generation of MIB Infotainment and which system you have in your car. There's number of versions and generations of these radio and navigation devices that differ with functionality and features like GPS navigation, Sirius & DAB radio, internal storage for jukebox, WLAN, App-Connect support and more.
Best and fastest way of checking it is by looking at the head unit part number and comparing with the list below. Luckily you don't have to remove the module to check part number that's written on it. You can check it though hidden menu or though version information in device settings.
✅ Check your MIB part number:
Go to CAR → Setup → System information → Device part number.
Press and Hold MENU button for 3 seconds, go to Software update/versions → Part number.

This is for one of your other videos about mib2 mk7 gti 2016 the radio losing the bluetooth and perfomance monitor lost and the infotainment system asking for the dealer purchase key I went my local dealer in palm springs California they never seen it but the re programmed it for a fee of 75 dollars in about 30 minutes thank you for your videos I hope this can help other's
Hi! There's a "license" file that stores activation keys for features like bluetooth, navigation, carplay, performance monitor, voice control... If this file (FecContainer.fec) gets corrupted or missing your head unit will not allow you to use these features. I would say that it's unlikely for it to get damaged. But as you can see it can happen.
What you local dealer did? They connected the car to VW online system and requested VW server to generate new .fec file according to cars specification. Then uploaded it to the head unit.
Good thing that they knew what to do and didn't want to replace the head unit with new one which would cost $500+ in parts AND would require the same .fec request&upload procedure for the fresh head unit.

hey, my GOLF tsi92 comfortline early 2016 model is fitted with the MIB1-5GO 035 819A interconsole, if i buy the MIB2-3Q0 035 846A and switch them out without replacing the media screen, will i get the app connect feature? also i saw from videos of people changing the USB output, will i need to do that if i was to go for this upgrade?

I have a question, i bought a VW Passat 2014/12 and have the MIB2.5 VW Discover Media (MQB). In the Menu i can see mirrorlink but i have to unlock it but not app-connect.
Can i run app connect with my current hardware or do i have to change the Navi.
Do you know the meaning of the letters described on the version file ? My unit uses MST2_EU_PQ_PO245T, the CD player is located above the screen. Your unit uses a spare CD player an uses the same version , but with the letter ZR ! Is it the difference ? PQ - ZR ? Thank you
MST2 = MIB2 Standard
EU = European region
PQ = PQ platform vehicle version (all-in-one unit)
P0245T = [P]roduction software, version [0245], unit by [T]echnisat
ZR are installed in EU Passat, Golf MK7. Display is separate from the main unit.

If it's not there from the factory, then you can enable it only by hacking the main unit. Which you can not DIY at home.

Is it possible to go from composite media to a discover media unit by just changing hardware (screen and head unit in glove box) or is it more involved than that?
There's GPS antenna which you will need. Also the device is secured by Component Protection which will kick in and limit functionality of the unit as soon as the new device is powered in different car than it was fitted originally. You will have to remove CP at dealers when they verify that it wasn't stolen in the first place. Then they need to upload FEC/SWaP codes, because functionality of MIB units is protected with "license keys".
@@mrfixpl just an update. I bought a headunit from a MIB2.5 car, it was unlocked, the only coding needed was to change the radio frequencies, i left a comment in that video so anyone doing the same retrofit has the reference.
@@blurry_eyes did you buy mib2 screen + glove box component + GPS antenna and that coding?

Yes. You can also check SW Train in hidden menu. If it starts with MHI2, it's MIB2 High. If it's MHIG, it's MIB1 High.

I believe that the easiest, quickest, and most efficient way is to enable App-Connect in your existing unit so you can use GoogleMaps from your phone on the dashboard display.

Yours is MIB2. and the letters in the end is generated, it's to determine the older or newer unit. I have the same car but GTE
