+Soulhenge Gear Reviews Any plans on reviewing the Mooer ge200?? I'd be really interested in hearing your thoughts on it and how you think it stacks up vs the hd500 and helix
Well I do believe I shot myself in the foot here so just ignore me lol. Just watched your unboxing video for the ge200 and in that video you said you were planning on checking it out and seeing how it was next to the hd500. I can't wait to see!
Haha, the GE200 Video is uploading as I'm typing this comment, should be online in a few hours ;)
Soulhenge Gear Reviews the Micro dark sounded fuller and more like a real tube amp compared to the others.
why am i not subscribed yet
Because he doesn't play 035
People just hate seeing a 17 year old kid with 30,000 USD worth of equipment...
Because he's not bro
Because of arabian dad
this gotta be one of the best tracks I've heard in youtube guitar gear demos
I had a pleasure to play on all those mini power boxes and Joyo... surprised me mostly! It's a beast.
I own the micro dark, it's amazing how much tones You can get with clean tube sound plus every disto/overd/ fuzze/ etc you plug on it.
Great video! I own the MicroDark and I have a couple of comments. First, I basically agree with all you’ve said except about the Orange not being for metal. Depends on what kind of metal. I play more doomy, down-tempo stuff and when you crank the gain, with the Shape knob at noon it’s a massive slab of sound. Second, the headphone out DOES have a cab sim on it. It’s not as bad as you describe-not the best but not bad at all. When you put it through a 4x12 all the negative aspects seems to disappear. Lastly, about the volume.....yeah, I hate when amp companies have a volume knob with with 80% of the volume in the first 10% of the pot. Also, for truly. brutal tones use a boost into it fully cranked. It’s doom in a box.
I tried MicroDark yesterday in music store with 212 V30s and MXR boost, I play mostly metalcore, deathcore and stuff like gojira and it sounded fucking great! The trick for good metal Orange tone is that Oranges have that sweet spot near max of the gain! Now I want to sell my Boss Katana (home practise amp) and buy this because this sounds a lot better!!!
I own one as well. I'm not sure if someone at Orange is into sludge but that slab of sound lasts well into Drop A territory. It's amazing but that volume knob... such sweet sorrow.
I got mine Recently. I use it for old-school Thrash/Speed Metal, with a Ibanez TS9 in front of it. At the end of the day, it's how you set the tone know on the amp that matters, as having it at around 1 - 2 o'clock will sound tighter, than having it at anything before 12 o'clock, which sounds more muddy and thick and good for doom/sludge stuff. Your speakers also play a key part. The Orange cab I have with ot is a bit crap, and I mostly use ot for practice, however when recording I use Ignite Amps NadIR with Slayer Impulse Responses, which results in a thrashier tone. In fact, while amps can change your tone's character, it's the speakers that will make or break said tone, as they're what actually puts your sound out there into the physical realm, for people to hear. Honestly, I find the Orange sounds really heavy and is a massive step up from Amp Sims, as my tone now has more body and sounds professional.
@@AnkothOfficial The Orange has excellent dynamics even when cranked.
I recently picked up the Orange Pedalbaby 100 to solve the 'not loud enough' issue.
Killer piece of gear.
Also, the MD fulfills an important criteria-I can use the tone for rhythm and lead and both sound excellent.
Micro dark through a 2x12 with an overdrive pedal soumds amazing. Can confirm.
jaredy18 Yep, that’s how I use mine
How it will sound with a tubes screamer pedal.
@@paulruiz4778 I use the ts808 mini and it sounds pretty damn good even through a 1x12
Finally a productive comparison between the micro amps. I'm really digging about it in order to buy one of those, and this video made my decision. I'll go with Zombie, for sure! Thank you so much.
Man I love the attitude of your music; that smokey, meaty sound and those calm but dark chords really have a special something to them. Keep up the great work, greetings from Austria
Awesome video man! This was a perfect comparison video and i think the Joyo sounded the best. It had a certain warmth to it that i absolutely loved. Keep up the good work! Greetings from India!
My brother sent me this video. Hadn't come across this channel before and I wouldn't have considered an amp like this, but I'm now I'm thinking I might have to. Great video man.
wow the orange you can really hear every string and note very clearly
I bought one with the impression "small amp small sound" good for 1 bedroom apartment ... I have never played past a 2 on volume. Its loud and very nice.
@@coreyjwingate same!, and I agree even with the volume on 2 my family still think its way too loud 😅
@@xvor_tex8577 this will be my first head and cabinet amp I’m getting because I have used combos for the last 4 years and I was gonna start small and get either the joyo or orange in this video but do U have any recommendations on a good cabinet?
Excellent review, it convinced me even more to get a Joyo Zombie, thanks for posting! Cheers!
Dude, nice review man! You really don't get these types of reviews in Metal genre! Thank you so much! Very informative!
As an orange micro dark owner I can say that you have pointed out all of the issues that I had found with the orange I love it anyway as well! Good video keepem coming!
such huge sound in da tiny stuff~
Great video man! I love your channel. Always honest, and you do great analyzation.
Orange is the winner. Volume, tone ,dynamics, will always win. It's EQ'd to get killer tones fast, if you use it to gig as a stand alone, and most times any lack you find can be fixed with a OD, Pre Amp, or EQ pedal , that's why OD pedals like Tube Screamers and Klons have such a mid boost.
If the Orange didn't have tube like qualities I wouldn't have bought it.
I love the drums during the breakdown section especially when the cymbal goes to the offbeat! Very tasteful.
2024, and still great tones and badass mixes! 🤘
really enjoyed the comparison and review. Great video!
i truly enjoyed your presentation. .you made sense and i could really see and hear your comparisons.
I actually own the Orange Micro Dark so I might be a bit partial, but I think it has the most balanced tone. When your throw an Overdrive, eq, and a noise gate on it sounds amazing.
That sounds like a lot for someone starting out. I used to play bass and I'm taking up electric guitar now too. I don't wanna have to buy two pedals when I'm going cheap like this on an amp
I'm also a bit partial with my opinion, the Pirahna 6505 sounded like ass when I tried it. I fiddled with all the knobs, tried different speakers, crunch vs lead channels, nothing sounded good out of it when I tested. So either all the piranhas on YT are modified or the one I tested was broken.
Nate Gin get a used overdrive for under $70 on Reverb. You got to get a certain amount of gear to achieve any certain tone, it just depends how much research you want to do to save yourself money
SticksAndStones I own a Micro Dark too, swapped out the pre-amp tube for a JJ Gold Pin 12AU7. Use it as a pedal platform with EQ, Gate, Delay and reverb in FX Loop, front End with a Jet City dual Overdrive, ProCo Rat, EHX Big Muff OpAmp, Boss CS-3 Compressor. My cab is a Panama oversized 2x10, Gibson LP Studio and Fender Jazzmaster. I have played legit shows in large and small venues (large as in 1k people) on the regular with that setup and it’s shocking how good this amp sounds. I liked the OG tube but stacking Drives, distortions and fuzz was a nightmare. The tube swap helped out tremendously. I can push the amp and tube hard and it takes effects and my drives beautifully.
@@vids595 dude, I live in Canada. Music gear here is almost double American prices...
Excellent in-depth report!!!!!!!!!!! Very nice!!!!!
i really dig your content! and you have a really polite vibe :)
The Micro Dark is my sound. Boost ->noise gate->MD full gain, Shape knob about noon, with a Cuvave Dig Reverb in the loop, all knobs fully counterclockwise. Into a Barefaced 2x12. Totally and completely crushing. Insane but controllable. Vary the gain with your pick attack. Get clean/dirty with the volume knob of your guitar.
You are so correct about the taper of the Volume pot. You hit 60% of the volume before 2 on the knob.
Even with one channel, Shape knob, Volume knob issues it’s a great amplifier.
Orange cleans sound super. I’m agree the micro all clear on every string played.
Great demo! That X2N's output is nuts
Thanks, the X2N has indeed an incredible amount of output and force!
Piranha was buried in the mix. Joyo stood out surprisingly well, powerful low end and plenty of articulation. Micro dark was impressive for the intro with the dynamics, but it turned a bit muddy past that.
Yup my very same thoughts!!!
Amen, right on the money
I have all 3 honestly the Joyo is built more solid. The Orange is built like dog poop but sounds sweet
bingo
Great review as always!
Yeah, I've been considering buying the Joyo Zombie for a while since my combo broke, but I think now I'm pretty sure about it
Absolutely cool comparison
Great walkthrough.
Thanks for the honest review.
amazing avaliable!! congrats!!
I personally think that the Joyo Bantamp Zombie is a very good sounding little amp... especially for the money. Reminds me a lot of how the Marshall Valvestate amps sounded. They share the same sort of tech, so it’s no wonder (a single 12AX7 tube paired with a solid state power amp). For me it’s somewhat of a nostalgic sound... as when I was growing up and learning how to play, I had a Valvestate combo amp that I loved. It’s tone was amazing.
I though the Orange sounded best, until I heard the Laney, sounds epic!
Amazing video, even though I'm much more of a metalcore guy I went with the Orange for my first amp in ages (played off my PC for the past...8 years?) and with the right pedals I think I could get a super unique, incredibly responsive tone.
awesome tone, subscribed
Very nice review brother!
This is the second preview of the Joyo and really enjoyed it. As a Metal player the Joyo sounds really cool and as in the other video it has a Mesa type tone which I like. On your review it does give it more Metal than the Orange. The Orange is alright but not as heavy as the Joyo. I'd like to connect two Joyo;s in an ABY switch box and run both at the same time with a V30 speaker and EMG pickups.
I feel these lunchbox heads almost require an EQ pedal.
Zombie has an FX loop. Add an EQ pedal and the possibilities are endless.
For sure, luckily there are a handful of cheap clone pedal companies that offer a range of different band EQs that kick ass and are basically all under 50$
@@nickdrey1200 I bought a Joyo EQ pedal for $45. Works great.
@@djtripnosys hell yeah, duder. I am a heavy proselytizer for Joyo. I, seriously, think that we have them to thank for pioneering this amazing movement of boutique level effects and products, at prices that are basically rivaled by...strings lmao
@@nickdrey1200 Even just buying a separate power amp to get to 50-100 watts is still less than half the cost of any Mesa, Marshall, Engl, etc.
Soulhenge, that is a bad ass guitar!
Good job dude.
Just got the Zombie and it's a kickass little box to my ears.
Nice video man! I have a question. Would you reccomend me to get a joyo zombie and a harley benton cab and use my pod hd500x only for effects or get the mooer radar and a frfr speaker? If the second, which speaker would you reccomend for 200-300 euros? Thanks! Keep up the good work
Beautiful guitar
thanks for the video you used the guitar you liked very much went to the brand or the model what is the special production I was very similar to the solar :)
Thanks man! I was going to buy a micro dark, I don't think im going to bother now!
dont tell me you thought the piranha sounded good...
nice video mate
Love the guitar! What kind?
that laney sounds incredible
Love this review! That Laney tho.
Great playing, there’s something about the orange amps that sit well in the mix better. I’ve heard the white orange micro amp in a mix on another demo and it sat better than the joyo also then.
I have the Orange Micro Dark and it Rocks!
That's a beautiful guitar
I own a joyo for bass guitar and love it. So I'm partial to Joyo but I listened with my eyes closed. Orange was my favorite.
I own Micro dark there is cab simulation from the headphone out, as for it not being a metal amp it’s old school you use a pedal of your choice to get the metal tone you want. As for the shaping knob don’t think of it as an eq think amp styling knob so 7-12ish is moving from a Marshall style sound through to a Vox ac-30 sounds so British amps. Going past 12 you’re getting Mesa through to Fender style sounds. This is an Orange 🍊 so not exact replicas but just giving the feel you need.
This amp is an amazing pedal platform so if you need more frequency control get an eq pedal, more gain get a metal zone for all the gain running through the loop, a good reverb and delay and you’ll be on your way to a very versatile/adaptable amp. Also running it through a large cab you could easily gig small venues and get over a drummer with this amp.
The other two amps have their place to me they sound a bit boring.
Orange 🍊 has a legendary back ground and the magic is the dynamics that orange amps have to understand what this means you have to try one then you’ll understand what people are on about because when you play on an amp that’s very dynamic it feels like having massive sounds at your fingertips.
Have fun now 😎
I am considering buying the Zombie. I own an Orange Micro Terror, am still on a budget and would like a cheap 20 watt amp that can do both clean and overdriven american sounds. You told me everything I needed to know, thank you !!
hey man nice video! what is your tuning? :)
Out of the three lunchboxes, I liked the joyo more lol
Same here!
Yeah me too... hell.. i may even get one now.. or at least added it to the list of buying potential.. nice little thing, compared!
vomitoriumbassist heyo
I have the Joyo Zombie. It's good. It definitely needs a boost or overdrive however!
How's the joyo on a 4x12 cab?
Dude, you need more subs.
What if you were to add a clean booster, as well as a few more pedals to the chain. Would that fix that weird clean, low, and odd mids?
I own the Orange Micro Dark and I absolutely love it and I really like the shape control but, to each their own.
Also according to the Orange website the headphone jack does have an amp sim.
I enjoyed the video a good comparison, well done!
jettblack303 Headphone Jack has cab simulation, love mine too!
My Joyo Zombie freekin cranks our brutal tones. Slave it from effect loop send into 100 watt loop return... and be ready!! Stick your favorite drive pedal in front and it dominates!! Nice video dude...
Great shootout video! To me, it was hard to tell the difference in the mix, but when you played them separately, I very clearly preferred the Joyo.It has less fizz, and is tighter and chunkier. I just wish it had a foot switch to switch channels, and a pre amp out so you can use it as a pre amp.
That's why I got a Zombie XLII, with separate knobs for each channel and a foot switch.
I liked the Peavey the most, then the Orange and lastly the Joyo.
Bad ass man. I'm sure you get this question a lot, & maybe already mentioned it in this video but what tuning are you playing in?
I will have to try listening to this through some head phones or some better "system" than just on my phone, because I really couldn't hear much of a difference between the three of them. Thanks for sharing this video. I've been wanting to start a "home studio" for some time now, and with so many options available on the market, trying to make a decision on what to get, for my needs, can be overwhelming at times. Especially when price is an issue.
can you plug these amps straight to a 4x12 cab?
Was the Ironheart the 120? It sound phenomenal!
The Peavey has some mojo actually. I'm not really a fan of that sad face EQ modern metal sound (it sounds mid heavy, but leaves no room for bass and treble and kind of sounds squashed) but with some EQ I think I'd quite like that amp. I can see how it would work in a DAW environment.
My pick honestly has to go to the orange though, the depth is there. But you never know when watching someone else, gonna go try these out myself :)
great vid
Hello, I'm from Brazil, I found your channel for some time. I would like to congratulate you on the quality of the content you produce. In my country access to some quality equipment is very difficult, any product arrives here for at least double the original value, be it a guitar, amplifier, etc.
Sim bro, é foda. In Europe you just find for E$ 370,00 a Laney Irt-studio and in Brazil at least not double but triple of the original value, plus, working with brazilian money it's like something impossible to achieve, just terrible.
The more recent Zombie II beats all of these as it has separate EQ for each channel and a footswitch to change channels
In the mix i like the orange tone and the laney, too.
Offroader-WardenburgDE british steel ftw
Wow this video sent me down a rabbit hole fast. I haven’t ever given Joyo any thought but it sounds leagues better than the orange and peavey here.
I ended up ordering the Joyo zombie as a practice amp in my living room
The Joyo overdelivers more than any amp I've ever played, but the weird honkey mid sound is a little annoying at lower volumes. You turn it up super loud and they get drowned out and it just sounds like a Mesa Dual Rectifier and shakes your house. Wildly fun to play.
Great comparison.
It would be more sense to compare Orange with Joyo MeteOR, which actually produces orange'ish kind of sound.
What song is that in the beginning of every video that you post? and could you maybe do a play through/lesson of it? Im absolutely infatuated by it!!
It's Finding Perry by No Ostriches
I own the Micro Dark myself and love it with an overdrive in front . Between using an Overdrive, the volume knob and coil splitable humbuckers, it's almost as if it as more than one channel.
I noticed a problem when played with low gain, clean setting, as it has some weird distortion when spanking the strings. Not pushing the amp to distort but some weird high fizz (In an otherwise clean signal) that only goes away when I roll the volume down or split the coils. I've seen this issue in two Dark Terrors (I got a replacement and kept the second since it's a minor thing). I was just wondering if you noticed this in the Dark Terror you demoed?
Funny you mention that little problem, I've experienced the same thing with the Micro Dark I demoed. It should be totally clean but (with high output pickups) it seems like there's still a fizzy noise in there, like a clipping noise. Can't quite see where this is coming from.
I don't own any of these, but that Peavey was badass
The Orange has lovely sparkle and would be my fave, though I am 50 so my tastes are more for classic rock 👍
Well done review, im going with Joyo Zombie. Have you tried the MV50 yet?
Thoughts? Try the mc50?
Damn good video! Thx!
Greetings from Poland, nice gear reviews and playing! Keep up with good work, I'm always tuned 4 your upcoming vid's.Can u maybe trying to share some of your full creations like a solo project song?Cheers
Check out noostriches.bandcamp.com/ where you will find my solo project songs!
Oh I definitely like all of their sounds a lot more with the Seymour Duncan pedal in front. It gave them a unique tonal shape. Until that point they all almost sounded the same.
What guitar is that? Looks killer!
Joyo rules again!
I put a tube screamer before mine. And that fixes the weirdness of the mids and gives it that hi end thing your talkin about. Highly recommend doin that! Talkin about the zombie.
How does the Zombie compare to 6505mh? Will it be similar with a horizon p drive?
very nice
What kind of guitar are you using and what tuning?
Best option: Zombie and Orange in parallel haha.
Zombie for more metal, orange for rock, or blend the two for a thick stereo sound.
I'd have to go with Orange>Joyo>Peavey based on this video. One after the other, I could just hear the clarity and definition improve. I'm probably going to buy the Orange at some point
DUDE ! Four minutes 30 seconds before you start, get into it big boy. Less chat more action 😎
did you use 2 mics on your cabinets to record left and right pan of the tracks?
gimme dat ge200 review boi (also mooer might have a track record of shitty mac support with the ge200 studio but w/e)
on topic, I totally agree with what you're saying about the piranha. supposed to be a 'mini 6505' but to me it doesn't sound like a 6505/5150 or anything like it AT ALL. guess the 6505 branding is only there to sell the bugger
It would be really cool if you did a video on the Seymour Duncan Palladium and Powerstage 170!
Best comparison of those little beasts ever.
I'm thinking about buying one of these, but since my style is more "classic rock", I'm looking for the Joyo Bantamp Bluejay or the Orange Micro Terror.
Have you ever tryied them too?
I'm on serious doubt of which one to choose, cause I can't find them in the stores of my city for a try out. Have to buy on the internet.
Congratulatios for the video!
Before I got my Marshall I used a micro terror for a year an loved it. It's only downside was no effects loop but I just put my pedals up front. It best feature is it's tone.
