It's Good Guy Greg!
I just found your channel. I've been a guitar player since I was nine years old in 1961. I still play and I'm now 67. You've got some great content on your channel, for both playing and shooting. Keep it up.
Jim, You're an Inspiration. Keep on playing 🤘
Wow you're old and play guitar, cool story grandpa.
@@TheBigMclargehuge Thanks. That was posted three years ago. I'm going to be 71 in June. I still teach adult literacy online with my local adult literacy council. I also just picked up a student who plays tenor ukelele. Tenor ukes are tuned the same as top four strings on guitar (D, G, B, E) so it's pretty easy. You have to stay active or you just rot away.
@@jimvandemoter6961 I'm being sarcastic. I can't begin to grasp why anyone would care.
@@TheBigMclargehuge Let me get this straight. I thought you were being supportive and respectful when actually you were being a disrespectful dick.
This is why I love your channel Dan. That's a ton of work and saves a guy like me who has no local music store a ton of disappointment by ordering something only to be dissatisfied. I bet you can play that riff in your sleel now lol.
This was a very well structured video that really showed off the sounds of the amps in a very precise way. Same groove all the way through for each amp. Well done. I'm gonna take a look at the mooer ac chumpy. I need less watts in my life.
Yes! I have the HT-1RH with the 12" cabinet speaker and it freaking rocks. Very loud for its size, and very versatile in my opinion. Go Blackstar!
I must be tone deaf I had a very hard time hearing any differenance. But I guess that's what you get for being around jet engines for 20+ years.
Nope. They are all similar. Speaker cab and mic placement matter so much more than the amp when it comes to significant differences in sound. And he used the same amp and cab every time. And mic and mic placement. Every single one of these would sound great in the hands of a good guitarist and recorded by a decent audio engineer.
@@blakestone75 I can tell the slight difference with the Mooer Little Monster AC. I have always liked Vox amps. The overdrive made the difference, otherwise on the clean sound, meh.
Try 30 years for me.
For me it’s 28 years of Fire Engines.
Thanks, Dan. I appreciate all the time you put in.
The way you divide up the the talking and playing sequences is perfection. Love your videos!
BTW I've had the Orange Micro Terror, Joyo Meteor and Orange Micro Dark now. They were all great and I kinda wish I had all 3 still lol
...that test melody....never wanna hear it again! 😂
Bollocks mate!! You will listen to that funky jam over and over and ye WILL like it, mate! Crikey!! 🇬🇧🤠🇬🇧
@@anthonyridge2323 get outta here and back to Europe you 😳
That is all you can comment on Anthony is a trolling dig? What a dou*** ! I figured you could have said too much talking or something to the nature of the amps but you are squawking about this poor souls riff. lol, ok I agree with the riff dig so as you were sir.
Seriously, all the amps sound the same on my tablet and the fact that the riff is throughout the whole video it is really setting my A.D.D. into a crazy insanity mode. Now I regret getting rid of my 1 watt blackstar ht1 metal combo, however I do like the roland groove synth I got in return. Dan if you were not to rush the demo , it would be more effective to us people that are not taking our ritalin. And p.s. let the music do the talking
Thanks for the speak friends info, will look into it.
I just bought a Bugera T5 and I'm REALLY happy with it. It definitely would fit into this category of low watt and reasonably priced. It stays amazingly clean, which is perfect for me.
It's apparently the same circuit of the Blackstar's head that was mentioned in the video... so I've heard
I recently got myself a Joyo Bantamp Zombie along with a SubZero 1X10 speaker cab. I used it at one of my bands gig for the first time last night, I had the volume on half way and it is definitely loud enough!
The reason I got this amp is because I wanted something smaller, lighter and easier to carry around than my Peavey Bandit, and in the size and weight department it definitely does the job!
I want one of these as my next amp so I am super glad you did this video, thank you
I've owned my Wangs Mini 5 for over a year and I absolutely love it. Great tones on its own, and it's my favorite clean pedal platform tracking with high-gain drive pedals.
It’s a solid choice, I agree!
The Blackstar is also my favorite. Thanks Dan.
I really like the thought and planning you put into your channel. The cabinet build, then a shootout of all the low watt tube amps making the rounds to follow it? Nice work!
Did a great job, as usual, with the comparisons. You would be surprised how many people will play a long piece, then expect you to keep it in your head for reference. You do it right. Good work and great video.
You should try making diy guitar pedals
100%%%%
I think the easiest to make within a reasonable budget is fuzz. (Check out "fuzz for a fiver") everything else, especially digital pedals, have more parts and more understanding needed
That sounds like a great idea, diy pedals.
DO NOT open Pandora's butthole!
Yeah I always thought pedals were really expensive for a circuit in a box
Man its pretty cool that you included stuff you cant really reliably get on amazon even though youre an affiliate. Lots of good info here, Im a metal head thats gotten bored of mega distorted chuggaluga nonsense, lookin to get into some more bluesy stuff and this helped alot. Killer riff too man I rarely like demo riffs lol.
This was a great review the fact that you played the same thing to tell the differences in each amp and both clean and dirty. Thank you!!
The video I've been waiting for! Thanks 👊🏾

Couple weeks ago, you asked why we watch..for me it's because of vids like this. The sponsor you believe in, the cable company, and your down to earth approach to comparisons. Spend less, play more. Thanks Dan!
Great revues and suggestions Dan ! I have the HT-1R and I am super happy with it ! It is very versatile and loud ! Have a great weekend !
That freaking riff is now in my head for rest of the day...
An 8” speaker is often considered phenomenal recording studio size- albeit not necessarily gigging.
Depends greatly on what you are recording...
@@SgtPnkks So true.
I hate when people generalize (like me).
thanks, was about to comment pretty much the same thing.
Another killer video, your reviews are some of the best, straight to the point, no frills, keep it up!
Thanks Dan. Great job! I liked the first Wangs amp, the blue JOYO, the Micro Terror and the Black Star! Keep up the great work!!
My favorite was the Marshall JCM 800
I bought a Joyo zombie II, It’s a two channel mini box and comes with a foot switch lol. I plug it on an egnater tour master 2x12 cab and it CHUGS!!
@Hank Hill seriously?
Dude, that tourmaster cab is NOICE
@@jamesbarthelemy5926 yessir! You should hear how it sounds with my JP2C
Thanks,,, relatively new and this is the first demo that actually showed me the differene betweeen a bassman and other amps....much appreciated. I'm subbed now
I appreciate your attention to detail and craftsmanship
This took you some time, really well done. Subbed! :) I absolutely LOVE the 15W and below herd. Can’t get enough.
Thanks for the sub! I look forward to seeing you around here more :)
Bro', the 1x12 in the back ground looks amazing.
This was an immensely helpful video for picking first (hybrid) tube amp. I ended up getting the orange micro terror, because I found a deal on it. I listened to this video so many times I may never get that riff out of my head.
I really like the orange micro dark. It sounds great and even has an effects loop.
Orange dark terror with a tube screamer is my favorite personally since I like more metal stuff.
I have a Blackstar HT1 and I'm in Love with. But these Joyo Amps sounds incredible to my ears. Need to try the Jackman. I'm a BritishMan soundwise. I wish everybody much fun with his/her Amp. More Girls need to play🎸🎸💯
I bought one of those Mooer Little Monster ACs for my son, fantastic little amp, so much grunt, so much headroom and so cheap. Really solid well built chassis and it looks great too. Highly recommend them.
Just got off work, looking forward to hearing these amps before I watch!!
I'd like to hear these with single coils--but that's just me. For clean I'd go with the Joyo Atomic and for wet I'd go with the Orange Micro. It'd be interesting to hear one guitar playing both clean and wet at the same time-- for definition and distortion. I think it's been done before in the studios, but it would be interesting to hear this particular match up. Thanks again for your vids.
All the clean tones were coil split (single coil). All the overdrive tones were humbucker.
With everything you crossed out because it really was single coil, the question makes no sense. You might as well have crossed it all out, or deleted the question. Crossing out just half of it serves no purpose!
I vote the Orange "Micro Terror" #1 for sound and price. Awesome clear channel. I vote the Joyo Atomic #2 for looks, build, sound and price, looks better than the Orange but the Orange has the sound. #3. is the Biyang Wangs VT-1H as it is tiny, tubes are visible, and has awesome sound but is priced a bit high. Thanks Dan, terrific video for sure.
I had a micro Terror and it didn't have any channel changing options
What a refreshing format for this topic. Thank you for making this easy on the ears... And... For using the schecter whos headstock is way easier on the eyes than the true Teles.
I use a Marshall DSL40CR Vintage and with 40 watts I have enough headroom to craft a gorgeous clean tone as well as the thick and smooth gain from the Marshall. Perfection!
I love the look of the 'open air' amps, with the tubes exposed. It looks like something out of a really bad 50 s sci- fi. I just wished I could keep the low wattage with more than 4 controls.
I love my Blackstar 1 watt amp. I put in a custom built finger joint 1- 12 combo cab with a vintage alnico and swapped out the tubes. It sounds great in both modes. The drive mode is pretty loud considering it's just one watt (1/4 volume of a 100 watt tube head). It is way beyond any front end overdrive pedal with its fabulous lush harmonics, crunch and crazy long sustain.
Watts are NOT volume
Not sure I've ever commented, Dan, but I just wanted to say that I really enjoy what you do and I love you man. You just seem like a solid guy, and I really appreciate that in today's world. All my best, and I will be watching more. Thanks for all you do!!
Look out, Dan, this cat’s gunnin’ for your twig, berries, and man-cream!!
Awesome video it helps a lot (you have the best content on youtube by now) keep it like that dan
Nice to see that cabinet being put to good use, and I love the sound you can get out of the Hybrid Amps!
Had a 100watt Marshall for years, never had the volume over 3..lol
Bought a mesaboogie tiny amp
Cost about as much as a full size amp, but sounded way better at low volumes
5 or 10 watts is a lot, plenty infact..for most people that is
Dont make the mistake of thinking big wattage is better sound
It's better to have more watts and not need them than to not have enough.some drummers will eat a guitar tone up.unless you have at the very least 100 watts.i prefer 120 to 150.even 200 watts.tuen it down if you can't have it that loud.
Awesome as always Dan, keep at it!
Awesome video I been playin for years and didn’t know about a lot of these amps
I bought an orange dark micro terror for around $125 and it has an effects loop. Definitely darker tone than the orange amp in this video
9:56 LOVE the pick squeal you got there, Dan! You’ve got to bust that out at church one Sunday morning 😊🎸
I just got a HT20 today! Thanks for the recommendation and great vid Dan
Dang. I want an HT20
this was a great video.....
hey wait, what is that in my notifications feed right now? a part 2? Yay cool!!
I used a Orange Micro Terror for rehearsal in the past. With a 4x12 it's loud enough to play over a drummer.
What's cool about the Orange Micro Terror is that you can go from the headphones out directly into a line in of your audio interface, add an IR and it sounds killer as the headphones out has no cab sim. You don't even need to connect a cab as a class D poweramp doesn't need a connected load.
Also a nice way to use the Orange (in a cleanish setting) is with an Earthquaker Devices Acapulco Gold and you get a Sunn Model T like doom machine!
I said 3 months ago that I would get the Monoprice, but holiday deals & some additional research led me to get the JOYO Jackman Bantamp. The real reason I went with the JOYO was getting a Harley Benton Vertical Cab w/Vintage 30 Celestion Speakers for about $250.
I just got the monoprice 15 watt and love it...I was thinking about getting one of the Harley Benton cabinets to run it through.
I've been called cheap a lot but I always respond that I like nice things, I just don't like paying a lot for them if I can avoid it. Your approach speaks to my frugal but picky side. Awesome rundown!
I have a Blackstar HT-1R and the tones are fantastic.
I have the stage right amp going into a 4-12 cab and it’s amazing and was so cheap! You can get these on sale for as low as $89 too on monoprice!!
I’ve seen them for $89 with free prime shipping once in a while on amazon. The recent popularity has jacked up the price. Unfortunately monoprice charges an arm for shipping if you buy from them.
@@GunsandGuitars
From your years of electrical/sound engineering background, tell me why you know that 8” speakers will not well at all?
That monoprice amp blew my expectations away like Katrina's wind :O And it comes with an attenuator? Nice
Jas Bataille wish they sold just the head
I have the mono 15, that’s a blues jr clone with a 12 inch speaker, I just plug it in a Marshall 2x12 cab. Big Full sound. I might just get the mono 5 cause I’m a Champ fan.
Love it dude! Still gotta check out part 2
I just subscribed and I want to say thank you so much for doing a great job explaining everything. I’ve played guitar for about 20 years and just now starting to get more into amps and pedals. You have given me so much knowledge in such a short time...AND KEEP EVERYTHING IN MY BUDGET! Love the value I’m gaining too.
Wondering if you would be up for doing a rundown of the more outside distortion/drive styles. Plexi vs dumble for example. I’ve had my eye on the CNZ dumbler and the outlaw Deputy Marshall plexi but I’d love some more information on the styles from someone who does a lot more than just turn knobs and say “I like that.”
Keep up the awesome work!
That 5W Stage Right combo is the best $100 I ever spent. I'm constantly amazed at how good it sounds. Highly recommended.
Just bought one.
@@teleguy5699 I started using a cheap 1x12 Kustom cabinet with the unit. Great budget bedroom rig.

......[Mesa Engineering has left the chat]
Ohhh !!! Thanks much for this tips !!! I love your work man !!! Keep on rockin´ !!!
Great comparison! A lot to consider other than price, mainly which one has the tone you want.
Ok, I’m going to have to check out that Biyangs Wang VY-1H. Great video man!
Hugh Manatee, Thanks for the tip, I will.
Actually Biyang Wangs are known for high quality products..
The issue you are referring to is the old Mini5 transformer...it has been replaced and works fine..
Unpainted transformer is old Mini5
Painted transformer is new..
But no, Wangs in general are not known for failures
@@fendshallmesadano7416 Yes you are right,Wangs quality is very nice
@@alchemistsanonymous6558
I looked for Wangs Common problems and did not find anything, you have a link?
They are not known for failures but Mini5 did have an issue that has been resolved .
Wangs has 20 models from 1w to 100watts...only issue has been Mark 1 Mini5. This issue has since been resolved
Would love to see how they take pedals
Love this channel. I see a Guns and Guitars video and I automatically give a thumbs up.
Great..that riff was catchy and covered lead and Rythm a good testing riff !
No "effects loop" is always a deal breaker for me. If you use modulation pedals especially, it's a must have. Thx 4 the review.
I really liked sound of Orange and blackstar 🤘
Yup
IMO the Orange clean tone was the best. Quite a variety of the gain demos sounded good, would depend on what suits your style...
Great information as always!
Incredible video. Very professional. Thanks dude.
Joyo meteor is for me one of the best sounding low watt amp is. Just amazing :D
I mean, that joyo zombie is calling me.
It is a great amp - I have one :)
Get the green one for cleans and the black one for drive :)
I use one with a Marshall 4x12 , turned less than halfway. Brutal !!!
the vivo is pretty cool, its basically a many 5150 hence the name vivo (roman numerals)
@@infelicitas i spent all day trying to figure out the correlation lol. Thanks!
I like the Mesa Mini Rectifier, EVH 5150 III and Blackstar MT5
The blackstar is badass, I had the ht metal 1 watt combo and it was killer. Now I had to manipulate things to bring a more powerful clean tone as for the amp was designed to be overdriven. Now with the emulated speaker output I would run it through a vintage organ speaker cab that was stocked with a jenson ps12 whizzer and the amp delivered my personal space needs for jamming and recording. I found mine at sweetwater for $189 shipping included during some silly sale but I had to online search a bit for that price.
I don’t even have a guitar and I’m looking to buy a guitar amp.
I have a Microfreak Synth and I'm looking for an amp, don't worry, your not the only odd one

@@hamzasaber120 are you trying to say that a tube amp isn’t a guitar amp
I might get the Stage Right when I go to college. I don’t think I can bring my Fender 60W 2x12 without the entire dorm hating me.

My favorite were the joyos. Totally agree that i love the amps they model
I gig with a micro terror and Marshall 4x12 cab. It sounds awesome

The fender champ '57 reissue sound amazing with an 8" speaker. Not a screamer or anything, but it have the best clean tone I've ever heard.
I have an Orange Micro Dark. Great little amp. I prefer it over the Micro Terror.
Lots of people are agreeing with you. I must be the only on that thinks the terror was better
@@GunsandGuitars both are great amps. I play heavier music. So the dark fits my taste better. Especially when playing doom. Either way... Massive sounding amps for the price.
The dark has an effects loop. And as far as the amp its, it has quite a bit more gain, but does the low gain sound too. I mostly use mine to power my helix through a 2x12 cab.
@@GunsandGuitars basically the same amp, but the dark has an extra gain stage and an FX loop.
I play the terror myself. Cheers.
Hey keith, we are playing Wembley tonight, don't forget to bring your Wangs power amp!
marc carter You could mic that thing and no one would know the wiser. It sounds huge. It’s amazing how many pro bands are either going direct to PA or playing low watts these days. I’m old school so I still love wedge monitors and Marshall amps 😊🎸
@@erictoniaschwab1009 I was mucking about. I have a Vox AC15HW1X. I use the selector switch to drop the rating in half to 7.5 watts. I can perform small halls with it. Without using a PA. I still fancy a Princeton at some point. There only 5 watts i think. Less is more :-)
Thanks, such a good comparison. I love your channel
I have a Yamaha one and they are really helpful to move from room to room without lugging about heavy gear
The Zombie amp is just calling me to play thrash on my Flying V, man can't wait so I can buy it next month so I have enough money.
I would personally put in the Micro Dark over the Micro terror as it has a few more features.
I thought about including it, but I must be the only person in the world that thinks the micro terror sounds better. Lots of people agree with you.
Totally agree, that the micro dark may be more versatile than micro terror. I think both are amazing but the dark may give you more distortion just if you want it. Simple!
Built my "Dream" guitar cabinet for about $55, and put in a 30 watt 12" Eminence. Then got a Joyo Bluejay: gain at 2:00, Tone at 1:00, and volume according to if my wife and grandkids are home. I have a Digitech Element XP through an E07 Ammoon equalizer, shaping the sound for being under my desk, in the effects loop. Sounds fantastic. I went with the Bluejay since I have a multi-effects pedal. Thanks for the informative reviews.
John Pittman I am doing the same, following his cabinet idea but I will do tweed over the entire front. Will do stain like him as I don’t know if I can handle wrapping in tolex!
Beautiful sounding little lamps
Awesome demo! Gotta love Orange but the second one says "buy me" all over it, all sound awesome btw
Hey Dan do you have any updates on the baroque fret file?
I have the Orange Micro Dark. It's a great little amp and has an FX loop the micro terror doesn't. It also acts as a DI I believe with cab sim out. (I would not recommend the 1x8 cab they pair with it though)
I like the Moore Little Monster too. "...headroom for days!"
Other than the Blackstar what was your favorite of the others?
As a metal guy your playing really makes me want to play some blues. Nice vid!
Amazing review. Thank you so much!
