The USD retains its buying power because the world keeps lending the US money by supporting the petrodollar system, and buying US debt. It's a ponzi scheme, a fugazi... The system is fake. The US creates inflation and forces other countries to buy it. The more they do, the more they devalue the dollar making the world's holdings of USD assets worth less. They can keep printing money, but whenever they do each dollar buys LESS and makes the cost of investing in new shipyards and ships much more expensive. As is, without the added expense of overhauling our military infrastructure we already print $1trillion dollars every 4 months. Who's going to finance the new shipyards?
