  • Chris Stephens of HVACR Videos on CZcams demonstrates Parker's ZoomLock® MAX Refrigerant Press Fittings. The technician can quickly connect piping with no torch, no hot-work permits, and no fire safety equipment. ZoomLock MAX provides a clean, leak-proof connection for today's contractors.
Installing new equipment has gotten easier and more efficient. In seconds, connect the refrigerant piping with a press-to-connect tool. HVACR professionals know that time is money. With a simple press, you can impact your company's bottom line by saving time with ZoomLock MAX refrigerant press fittings. Also, the one-piece fittings are reliably secure, leak-proof, and more repeatable than brazed connections - so there's no compromise on quality or performance.

Good video other than the fact we can't see what your doing due to the fact your subject is below the camera view. However, I think those of us who are tech savvy got the gist of it.

Chris did an excellent job of explaining the importance of the stab depth and the marking of such👍. I’ve worked for the natural gas utility in the Saint Louis Metropolitan area for 35 years (obviously Sporlan knows the company) and I have seen press fittings and insertion fittings used to outstanding success and to devastating failures. In investigating the failures it almost always boiled down to installer error (Poor insertion, not marking stab depth, poor preparation and cut O-rings due to such). Just to let you know the first thing I look for when incidents happen is that stab depth & stab depth marking. Now with the flammable refrigerants your industry will surely be investigating incidence once you have an approved O ring for flammable refrigerant.

Agreed 100%, you have to take the time an follow the manufacturers instructions to the TEE. One thing that I just recently learned (the hard way). Is that don’t mix fittings and crimping tools from different manufacturers. If you use zoom-lock, use zoom-lock fittings AND the zoom-lock crimping tool. I was on a job last week, where a subcontractor used zoom-lock fittings but used another type of crimping tool. The end result, every single fitting had a damaged O-ring because the crimping tool used had a different jaw pattern than what was on the fittings. There were dozens and dozens of leak points 😵😵😵.

does it make a difference if you put a form of lubricant such as nylog

Rothenberger do not specify the use of any fluids or lubricants. You have to use the proper preparation and cleaning procedure as well as using their marking stencil. I haven’t used zoom-lock or any other brand so I can’t comment on their procedures.

Just to clarify I’ve only used Rothenberger fittings and crimping tools, but not other brands.
