@@verynaomi went well, your hole saying peoples names out loud when introductions happened kinda saved me, good advice even for a blue collar job like this one.
so glad to hear it!!
What you said brought me 10 years back when I was lousy figuring out how to be more professional in the most simple ways.
Yes these are simple, but these are precious than gold.
I am glad I had time watching this.
All these tips are great! Had many jobs over the past years and starting a new one next week, always great to get a refresh of these tips right before starting a new chapter! If I can give one extra tip that I miss a little in your video is âhaving the right body languageâ and âremEmber to SMILEâ :-). A smile can help you, even when you made a mistake or forgot about one of the tips! Good luck everyone!
Great tips! My favorite was the "Repeat people's name back when meeting them" because I have a very short memory and problems when it comes to focusing, so I have start repeating people's names from now on! Starting a new job as a bartender tomorrow and to be honest I am feeling tense. The beginning is always the hardest part and I wish I could just fast forward like a month when I'm actually able to work fast and know all the drink recipes from my mind rather than look at a recipe.
starting my first job next week, so excited but really nervous!! this video has helped a lot :)

Started my first job yesterday and got a terrible first day. Basically I'm working breakfast as a waiter in a hotel. We were told there were 60 people for breakfast, cool that's not too bad, there's 4 of us so we should be fine. The problem is that 30-40 of those people decided to unanimously come down at the same time. Thanks to this, I was in charge of cleaning and preparing the tables for EVERYONE by myself. Today wasn't too bad though since there were 120 people, but there was no more than 6-7 in at a time and there was 7 of us working.
Iâm sorry to hear that! I hope your next shift is better!
@@verynaomi it's such good fun actually. Apparently that day was an anomaly

Starting my first day tomorrow, I'm so anxious
Starting my first job today
Im still in college. But I decided that I should try kick start my career and work in the field which im studying which is Marketing. Today is my first day of working at a marketing firm and I am FREAKING OUT. I decided to lessen the financial burden at home thats the only thing that I am trying to focus on because its going to force me out the house. Im too old to want to work and more of a I have to work. Like even if I have a crap first day, its nothing thats in my own hands. Even if this job sucks. Survival is the main goal. Sigh I really donât want to go. I know u said u take a lunch box but I cannot fathom eating anything. I havenât even had breakfast because I know I will vomit it all out because of my butterflies. Wish me luck
Im done few jobs before but still nervous thats why im here đ first time working in a country which use fully english in their daily conversation, im dead but still want to try!!!

First days in a couple hours the nervous power is real
I'm suppose to start on Dec 10 but my job is still building the place,
I start today as a playworker in an elementary school and my social anxiety is through the roof
Youâll do great! itâs normal to be a little nervous but try not to worry too much!
@@verynaomi Update!! I just got through my first week of work :)) thankyou so much for your video and support. I've been doing great at work but im still getting the hang of things
If your new job is receptionist and your reception phone has a cordless phone linked to it, get acclimated to that cordless phone ASAP. The office manager will not care about the circumstances surrounding a bungled call transfer to him/her (like being in the middle of an âhow to close up shopâ instruction session in the break room where you find out first hand the reception is bad) even if the caller was only an employee from the job placement agency that got you that job and not a client of the company. If the office manager hears you bungle that call on just your 2nd day, you are OUT.

Starting my first job on Thursday as a waiter for a catering company and I donât really know what it is going to be like and Iâm super nervous
Youâll do great! itâs always nerve wracking the first few days but youâll learn the ropes quickly!
Update
Im super nervous, it's the night before my first job trial shift at a Christmas Market, this will either get me a job at a cafe or not. I'm scared I won't know what to do with myself, or of being awkward or doing something wrong ya know. I'm seventeen so I feel a little intimidated as the other workers will probably be much older and experienced, and I'm just scared that they'll wonder what I'm doing there if you get me. Also I've never met the person that's giving me this trial so I'm worried about what they're like too.
Update?
I start my first job ever tomorrow at a local pizza place! I'm so nervousđthis helped so much but ahhhh still so scared
I hope it went well!!! iâm glad it was able to help a little!
Starting my first job (retail) tomorrow, Iâll let you know how it goes
Yes, please do! good luck :)
@@verynaomi finished my first day! I was super nervous but I followed your advice everyone was really nice, gonna need a good foot soak and comfier shoes, but this video absolutely helped!!
Tomorrow is first day at my very first job â€
so today was suppose to be my first day. staffing agency told me to show up tomorrow instead cause they were waiting on paper work to come back. so i slept in. they never told the company i was to work for this. smh...so now tomorow is my first day now. After speaking with the temp agency, I called up the employer and spoke with new supervisor she was really silent at first and had a passive aggressive tone like its my fault. so thats what im walking into tomorrow....
It sounds like you did everything correctly! It was great that you called the employer and explained things because it definitely wasnât your fault that there was a mishap. The temp agency should have communicated with the employer. I hope all goes well for you tomorrow though! Iâm sure it will blow over by then
@@verynaomi Thanks for the feedback.
I start work in less than an hour⊠agency told me they werenât doing induction and I do induction today at 9⊠I turned up⊠company said agency should have done induction. Come back at 12. Agency and company are arguing over âwho pays to train âthe casualâ. Wow. Thanks folks.
Just got a message back from my new manager that day 1 literally starts tomorrow and he just told me this now!!!!
GooD LucK
Hope it went well
Today's my first day at work I'm gonna go early and have my notepad and laptop also.
Ahhh my first day as an educator starts from 1st November...i am still studying....ahhhhh not nervous but really don't know what to do on it first day...i will be all by myself...i thinkđ
Youâll do great! the first day is always a little awkward but youâll get through it:)
My job doesnât have a website with employee names.
Nice glassđŻđČđâïžâïžâïž
Thank you! đ
God bless you I thought of everything hallelujah lol
I have my first day of work today and still havenât slept đ
I'm still new at work. I feel like some of my coworkers don't like me. I'm shy to introduce myselfđ„ I'm an introvert
Iâm shy too, but donât assume they donât like you! they might be introverted as well :)
Would it be weird to bring a pen and notepad to a job certain types of jobs? I feel like maybe they would find it weird if I did that, but I do also want to be prepared
I guess it would depend on the type of job/atmosphere. For the first day anywhere though, people will be throwing a lot of information at you so I think it would still make sense to have a way to take notes, but on a daily basis it definitely wouldnât be necessary for certain jobs
I used to work as a manager at a mall retail store. If I was training a new hire for a part time sales associate position and they brought a pen & notepad to take notes I would be VERY impressed. Even if you donât really need it, it shows youâre taking the job seriously and that you have potential. Doing something like that will set you apart from the rest of the new hires/current employees and make you stand out. In my 3 years there only 1 person ever did this (and I have onboarded at least 100 people) and I still remember her name to this day.
I start in 2 days, I'm already shaking
đđđâš
my first job is in an hour⊠iâll lyk how it goes lol
I hope it went well!
