Patrick Mahomes 2023 season: game manager. That's how you REALLY do concision.
nick is trippin wow
@@bigdongbob838 That's how you TRY to sound objective. Besides...what's wrong with being a "game manager" if being a game manager gets you to the Super Bowl?
Mahomes had one bad game in the 6 games they lost? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh Nick, where's your straitjacket? 😅 💥💥9r😎😎😎
Baker on this show is gonna be legendary
in-studio in-person specifically
Will be an episode to 100%
Better season? Purdy. Better qb? Mahomes. Done
If you swapped they’re teams the niners would be closer to undefeated than the chiefs would be to .500. Purdy had better stats, not the better season.
The Mahomes that lost to Denver?
@@Darth_Hideous_that’s not the case tho… you gotta speak in what it is not what it could be…
Right come on Skip with the ifs and buts
@@Darth_Hideous_he don’t understand, casuals usually don’t
Nick became a vibes guy for this argument
The funny thing is he didn't even have to be. Mahomes had 75 of what Pro Football Reference calls bad throws on 566 attempts that were intended to go to receivers (i.e. not throwaways or spikes), a rate of 13.3%; Purdy had 70 in 429 (16.3%). Mahomes threw on target 80.7% of the time compared to 75.5% for Purdy, and whereas Mahomes' receivers dropped 39 out of 457 on-target passes (a league-worst rate of 8.5%), Purdy's dropped only 9 of 324 (2.8%), best in the league and almost exactly a third of the rate Mahomes' did. Mahomes had a lower interception rate than Purdy (2.3% to 2.5%) and a much lower sack rate (4.3% to 5.9%) despite having slightly less time in the pocket (2.5 vs. 2.6 seconds) and being pressured about 12% more often than Purdy (22.6% vs. 20.1%). Mahomes also averaged more yards per scramble than Purdy (8.1 to 7.8) over a much greater number of improvising situations. I'm not going to argue that Mahomes had the better season, but it's certainly closer than people might acknowledge because metrics like passer rating rely on completed passes, which are partially in the hands of the receivers. If Mahomes and Purdy's receivers had each dropped passes at a league-average rate, Mahomes' completion percentage would have been 69.2% and Purdy's 66.7%.
He always is
@@dominicpancella3012what’s mahomes adot, then do purdys, talking about completion % when you don’t even take that into account smh

So does Caleb remind Nick of Mahomes in the same way that… say… Purdy reminds Brou of Brees?
Had the same conversation with someone else. Purdy seems like the only person you’re not allowed to make comparisons for. I literally remember when Kurt Benkhert said that Purdy reminded him of Brees and people went ballistic.
He had to add "Stylistically, he reminds me stylistically." as if that's not exactly what everyone was doing with Purdy and Montana/Brees.
Brou been cooking all season especially nick
But when Brou says Josh Allen’s play style reminds him of Farve Nick says “yeah without the MVPs and SB”… so where is that at now?
Favre was a reckless thrower at times. Allen is a reckless runner. That will catch up to Allen someday and he might be out for the season. And yeah... Favre won a MVP and SB and Allen has won... Nothing.
I put only one loss on Purdy the Baltimore game. The Cleveland game he didn’t play well but he put them in position to win. The Vikings/Bengals losses I put on the defense. Couldn’t get stops on 3rd down and Burrow did whatever he wanted. Purdy had a better season and Nick is wild putting every loss on Purdy.
“Purdy was 3rd team all pro” 😂😂
I wish I got to see Nick's reaction to that 😂😂😂
Nic looks like he’s a world famous watch maker
😂
fail to mention he played through a concussion against the vikings
Clarifying question, he was diagnosed with a concussion during the game, yeah? I thought it was a sack that gave him the concussion.
@@Angrynood he suffered the concussion during the game, but it wasn't diagnosed until after the game was finished. He was on the team bus complaining of headaches. He was somehow cleared to play against the Bengals the week after, but apparently he should not have played in that game either. That's on the SF medical staff there.
Yeah what a joke. Talk about lack of oversight.
And the defense got torched all game, but hey it’s always Purdys fault according to Nick.
And played 6 days later in Bengals game. Bengals was his 3rd game in 14 days.
Nick did the Jimmy Garopolo argument to defend Mahomes from Purdy 😂
On the Caleb to Chicago and Justin thing, at some point you have to stop having potential and have to show up. Sometimes people have potential and it doesnt get anywhere further, like Ben Simmons (the most dramatic example of it)
Oh so your just a hater JF1 is Lamar Jackson type player but he just needs a better WR better OL better RB better coaching better defense to anticipate throws better to not hold on to the ball and to not fumble so your just hating just to hate when it’s obvious this dude is the next Lamar Jackson

@@colelarkin7106justin fields is the next lamar?? cuz he’s black and fast?😂😂😂😂fields isn’t in the same universe as jackson. and won’t be starting in chicago next season😂😂ravens don’t consider drafting QBs
At some point your team matters as well. The pieces they put around you. Mahomes is my guy but let’s not act like he didn’t have an All Star cast. Same with y’all’s other favorite QB in Purdy. The organization matters. The bears will move from field and draft Caleb but it will be the exact same situation because the organization can’t get it right
Nick is gonna be sick if Purdy wins 😆
Can’t wait !!!
If he wins and has better numbers than mahomes he won't come in haha
And I can promise you even if Purdy has 400 yds 4td 0 int, he will not give purdy any props at all

Nick is all about stats and analytics until it doesn't help his arguments anymore
😅😂🤣
I mean, there's a difference between having a better season and being a better player. Purdy had a better season than Mahomes by most metrics. Sometimes QBs don't get the talent around them that they need to have a great individual season, regardless of their actual talent. Mahomes was the better quarterback, but still had a worse season. It happens.
Most of us realize this, but Nick is in a class of his own.
Yeah but no one is saying Purdy is better than mahomes.
@@HockeyDudeJames2never have. We the supporters of Purdy just want him to get him more objective respect than he gets for his play on the field. Or at least more than a make a wish kid.
When you have a good Oline as a QB there’s only one guy you can possibly point a finger to blame. Every time Purdy struggled was because of his Oline and that’s why when he had good games he had to work harder to make things work out
Mahomes really wasn't the better Qb this season. He looked awful, until last game against baltimore. His WR's have dropped some balls, but why is it that everyone seems to take any blame away from Mahomes ever. It's as if you people think he can do no wrong. Mahomes is a better QB, but this season, Purdy out performed him. Just to clerify, Mahomes was not the better QB.
Does Mahommes need Nick to carry his water? Dude...your'e shrieking lol
Is Nick finally reaching puberty?
Lmao his eyes frantically darting around the set for Mahomes to run in and give him a reassuring hug
Remember the "never a doubt" was for 20-0. Not whatever the season ends up being
Nick pulling out the "according to your guys' logic" always is him conceding the argument because he has no point with his own logic
…or he’s pointing out how their current arguments are hella contradicting what they were saying in the past…?
This isn’t right at all. You just don’t see how it’s actually more effective
@@donaldedwards9814 and he is doing that because his own argument contradicts what he said in the past?
@donaldedwards9814 , yea...no Nick has been a walking contradiction this whole year. Brou has been very consistent on Purdy all year and Nick has not been able to counter his arguments, except with BS hypotheticals
The look on Wildes face when Nick tries to make his case patty had a better year lol 6:13 😂
If Chicago traded the no 1 pick to Denver and they drafted Caleb, I am 100% sure we would see Nick do a complete 180 on his opinion of Caleb Williams.
If Purdy was picked #1 Nick would call him the prince. Nick is pathetic
@Bjoern_1897 I was talking more to his bias against rivals, but the passes he give to Lawrence he would never dream of giving to Purdy or Herbert (also a very high pick) are numerous. Williams will be getting thoes same passes, unless he ends up a Bronco.
Wildes cuddle joke about caleb was funny
He reminds him of Patrick, but when Brou says Purdy reminds him of Breese all of a sudden that's craziness
If you look at the efficiency at which Brock has played, you could extrapolate his season out to the pass attempts that Mahomes had and he'd have a 5k season. Now that doesn't necessarily mean that Brock would get 5k yards with more attempts, but what it does mean is that if you shrank every QB down to Brock's attempts, they'd all have performed worse in the "system" he's currently in. In fact, none of them have ever in their careers performed more efficiently than he has this season. Not once. Not even Mahomes during his MVP run. Shocking but the data is there. Mahomes was averaging 8.6 yards a thow his second year while Brock is over 9 this year. Incredible numbers.
Wildes that was one of my favorite moments from you all time when you cooked Caleb at 7:30👏👏🎉🔥🔥🔥
Here’s a different way to phrase the question: which QB performed better compared to their expectations? To which I would further ask the question: “Did QB ______ show me that they were better than I thought they were?”. Throughout the season, Mahomes did not prove himself to be better than anyone already thought he was, but Purdy absolutely performed above expectations. Who’s he better QB? Mahomes. Who had a better season? Purdy.
“Purdy was 3rd team all pro” 🤣🤣🤣 why did y’all cut it after that? I wanted to see Nicks reaction 😂😂😂
Haha, yeah I love when Brou brings that one out. Also, they SHOULD have a 3rd team All Pro.
Better season is purdy but mahomes is the better QB
Why can't nick just give purdy a compliment😂 and no backhanded compliments don't count
Caleb’s playing style reminds me of Kyler Murray more than Patrick Mahomes
This some Skip Bayless level logic from Nick. Bravo lol.
Nick at the end saying that Caleb Williams is the best prospect since Luck, throws in the face of him saying the same about Trevor Lawrence. Maybe we should temper the expectations for these rookies.
Well if Chicago trades the no 1 pick to Denver his opinion of Caleb will be instantly tempered.
@@jamesbridges6502 he'll get that high-pitched whine to his voice as he says he never said that. 🤣
@PurpleMonkeyDishwasher88 Williams will go from being in the "defend them anyway I can boat" with Mahomes, The Prince, and Dak, to the "knock them anyway I can" boat with Herbert, Purdy, and Allen. It'll be like magic.
Jerry Rice: "The way Brock plays he reminds me of Joe Montana"
Nick Wright: "Oh my god, you can't compare this guy to Montana, this is just crazy, you guys are nuts!"
Also Nick Wright: "Caleb Williams reminds me of Patrick Mahomes"
What most people believe Nick is to Brock Purdy... Coach is for Patrick Mahomes lol
Nick - you just gave us a bunch of numbers … Also Nick- gives a bunch of numbers 😂
I'm a Chiefs homer, and even I don't get all Gumby like Nick does to try and make Mahomes' season a great one.
But it was pretty ****in impressive. 4 of his 13 picks right off his WR hands... Worst WR group in the NFL in over a decade by advanced analytics AND most heavily penalized offensive line, that is a lot of drive killing 10 yard penalties and digging out of a hole to keep drives alive... also 2nd worst in NFL in penalty differential as a team... The defense was GREAT this year... But rarely flipped the field. It was actually impressive AF, lol...
@@BeepBeep1981 still doesn't change the facts
Sorry but I watched all 49ers games and most chiefs games this year and Mahomes genuinely played better as a QB than BP.

Purdy had a better season.
Mahomes played better.
Mahomes is better.
all of these things are true
@@yelsu3358Purdy played better in every metric but Mahomes is more talented
That depends on the definition of “better season”. Football, unlike other sports, has many variables. In basketball and baseball one guy can take over a game and have incredible stats. In my opinion, having watched all the games Mahomes had a better season even tho purdy had better stats. But that’s just my opinion
@yelsu3358 mahomes is the better qb but he did not play better than purdy THIS YEAR. Pretty easy to understand
@@yelsu3358 Purdy outplayed Mahomes' MVP year in terms of efficiency. If you took Mahome's MVP year in his second year in the league and shrank his attempts to Purdy's attempts this year, Mahomes would have fewer yards than Purdy this year.
Basically, Mahomes would have around Purdy numbers if he were playing in this system.
How much of Mahomes drop off had to do with the WRs dropping roughly 3 passes every game?
Yep, you need good weapons.
Thanks for this awesome show.
Wait sorry nick just isnt useing context he talks about the weapons purdy has but he has them because he is on a 7th round draft pick salary and when patrick was on his rookie contract which was still a much larger salary then purdy's contract and mahomes had insane weapons as well
If the Olympics ever take up Mental Gymnastics as an event. The USA just needs to put Nick Wright as their starter and talk about Brock Purdy before the event. He’ll clean up more than Phelps
Nick goin high-voice 😂 "you DIDN'T" 🤣
In the loss against the vikings, purdy had a concussion. Nick gave him a slack at the time. Now, aparently, he forgot
This is just pure entertainment at this point. Literally doesn't matter one thing they say, they are like lawyers delivering arguments and counterpunches. It's just pure fun and mental fodder. Love it. don't break these dudes up this show is the GOAT sports show, with comedic relief (necessary).
Someone needs to remind Nicky that Purdy is in his 2nd season and first year playing a whole season, Mahommes is in his 7th season and sixth starting.
You can argue forever if you are allowed to cherry-pick QB statistics. For example, who did better in this particular gave vs that particular game.
Or who did better in these very particular circumstances. How can you avoid cherry-picking stats?
Select an overall stat for the whole year, such as QB rating which takes all the other stats into account.
When you do that Purdy had the better year.
Better qb everyone knows. The better season? We will know Sunday night when one of them is holding the trophy
Speaking of “my dog”, Wildes should definitely learn how to do the Jose Mourinho “that’s my dog dance” for Nick’s wedding lol
Nick forgot about that Broncos game after mahomes went to the world series?
Nick really loves ignoring the fact that Purdy had a concussion during the tail end of the Vikings game. Look how Tua played vs the Packers after the half when he suffered a concussion. Different players. Also with the Bengals game, Brock wasn't allowed to practice all week due to the concussion protocol and was cleared Friday night or Saturday, if I recall correctly. He's still a second year player so yes, he wouldn't not play well
Nick is hilarious. This dude moves goal posts for a professional career.
In Nick World, Mahomes can do no wrong and Purdy can do no right. Nothing will change this.

Wildes nailed it…@ 10:58

Brou: statistical facts
Nick: screeches
Any real football fan knows Mahomes is way ahead of purdy and always will be. Purdy had a great season and I actually like the guy, he’s low key, low draft pick, not flashy, seems like a good dude. But stats can be misleading. There been others like purdy in the past who put up a few good seasons on good teams and didn’t do much after. We should give purdy his props for now but I still believe qb stats don’t carry as much weight as people give them, there are too many other variables. It’s not like basketball or baseball where the individual can just make their own stats for the most part.
They're not asking who's the best qb tho, ofc I'd say mahomes and I'm a niner fan. Purdy had a better season tho
@@cheehee808_ again, that’s an opinion. This isn’t objective, it’s subjective. There is no stat that can definitively say one guy had a better season than the other because there are too many variables. Both guys are great, but your definition of “better season” dictates who had a better one
Nobody with half a brain is saying that Purdy is going to the Hall of Fame right now. The fact is that he has has a fantastic season, which he played well enough to be in the MVP conversation (and going by any reasonable metric he deserved to be in that conversation), and played very well after being thrown in the deep end last season. He's only in his second season, his first full one as a starter and has exceeded expectations by miles. Sure there will be some idiots who come out and be like "Purdy's gonna be the next Montana! Yeahhh!!!" but that's not what most people are saying. I just love what Brock has done since he came into the starting job and hope he continues to get better and lead the team to more SuperBowls. He might not be able to do that...but I hope he does.

Watching Nicks brain implode as he tries to both argue that Pacheco, Kelce, and Rice are great weapons, and that the Chiefs had no offensive talent compared to the Niners, was hilarious to watch.
They don't have as much great offensive players as the Niners do, but when you fator in how great Mahomes is, and that the Chiefs have a slightly better O-line, it pretty much evens out.
