The world is in mourning. We have lost friends, family, jobs, finances and our sense of normality to COVID-19. We are coming face to face with the pervasive effects of systematic racism in our society, and its terrible human toll. 2020 has not been “our year”...or perhaps it has, but just not in the way we expected it?
In this episode I spoke to grief expert and therapist Claire Bidwell Smith about how grief is a process that helps us face and deal with loss, how this will look different for everyone, how unresolved grief can cause anxiety and affect our mental health, how to help our children deal with grief and loss, and how grief is a normal part of life and integral to the healing process. We also discus how to deal with the loss of a job, a routine, financial security and more!

You don’t need the right words! Just the fact that you’re there, means SO Much! Just to be a listing ear, a shoulder to cry on.

I would like to point out, that I wasn’t saying don’t grieve, I think the grief will always be there... but we all need to have time to also laugh, & not always be sad

I lost my 28 year old daughter Michelle October 29th, 2020 to a car accident. I'm experiencing my grief naturally. I'm sad, but I'm trying to relieve myself through writing in my journal.
At Christmas I made a beautiful ornament in her memory. And dried flowers from her service and put them in a frame in her memory. It was from my heart ♡ a Mother's heart ♡ I will never be the same and I will go on because I love living but I know it's a process. Thank you

Great video. I lost my father 11 years ago and since then I've been dealing with comorbid mental illnesses, OCD, Anxiety, depression etc.
The underlying cause is that huge loss I think.

But be careful! NOT to stay in the grief & remorse.

Think the key is to NOT let it be your sole defining characteristic. When we are in intense pain-- physical, emotional, spiritual, whichever-- of course the mind sees that as the sole threat and thing to deal with. But some losses cannot be fully replaced/ recouped. Is important to stay true to one's self/ one's identity for sure-- for yourself, who you're grieving, and others you love who are still here (Not saying get over it asap- anything but. Is a multi-tier process with ebbs and flows, takes time and compassion for sure.. some losses will always hurt, but we are definitely stronger beyond our primitive comprehensions, and should keep moving, living, & silencing our strong inner doubts)

I'm so sorry I know how it feels to be lonely without the person you loved, we've all lost our love ones in death one way or the other, either a spouse, child, family members, or a true friend that meant the world to us, such is life I understand how you feel but life goes on because death is inevitable and we'll all have to face it someday, I lost my wife 3yrs ago to a cardiovascular disease, I felt deeply devastated with grief, but that's the past now, time is indeed the best healer.
I'd love to talk to you more if you don't mind! it'd be nice if you just say hi, here is my number +17866678266 or rather you can send me your gmail address so I could reach out on you.
