    If firing Reirden was a power play, then he'd still be on the Penguin's staff.

    The hiring of Reirden's replacement may tell us more than we learned from the generic statement from Dubas announcing his dismissal.

    DK, when we put Graves aside, Reirden had a pretty good reputation with defenders. Why wasn't he employed to run the pk? Was it no option to switch Velucci to take over the pp midseason?

    Is it my imagination - probably so - but RG seemed to decline as the year went on with him starting on a good note.

    Yea, he anchored Karlsson too.

    Why? Because they don't have the testicular fortitude to fire Sullivan.

    I never liked the Reirden hiring. He wasn't a good coach in Washington. I was surprised to see him on the Penguins bench.

    A young team looking to develop their youngsters would be wise to grab him . Wait a tic , pens need a guy like in that in another 3 yrs or so …….🤪

    Toronto was just eliminated again from the playoffs as they had been for years under Dubas. This Dubas fellow is overrated as hell. A Toronto youtube channel pointed out that three players that he let go have more goals in both the regular season and the playoffs as his core group for eight million less. Aside from Eller the players he put together suck.. especially the big contract for Karlson. He resigns Jarry for five million a year and how'd that work out? Giving away his first round draft pick in the process.. Rebuild?
    Yes he got rid of a couple of bad contracts.... but wtf is Karlson's
    Dubas produced Nothing in Toronto... history will repeat itself in Pittsburgh..

      The Karlsson trade will always be good for what the pens gave up to get him. They gave up petry and granlund, got younger with the trade, AND gained cap space with the trade. Granlund would absolutely not have the stats that he had last year if still on the penguins, and the fact that those are his numbers as a first line center all season is horrible.

      @@zeusthedrumlord547 That's assuming there was no other way to move them. Pens D has always been soft and adding EK added to that. Dubas isn't very good at selecting goalies either.

    • @jsebby2284
      @jsebby2284 Před 13 dny +2

      He didn't give EK a contract - and that trade was good. The Jarry contract was fine. Eller and Ned signings were also good
      Also, I'm not sure your point in saying the Leafs have been eliminated this year as if it's some kind of point against Dubas? If anything, it would mean he wasn't the problem

      My friend from day 1 I have been commenting on this. As a Pens fan in Toronto, I saw first hand at the poor ability of Dubas in roster construction....and his propensity to give larger contracts than expected, more term or more dollars than most thought in all his contracts. I haven't liked any of his moves to this day. Even Eller who did well, I thought there were better options. I commented on this, 6.4 million for 8 players who were scratches on other teams to fill the bottom 6, who produced in total less than 10 goals.....I named 3 of the 5 players I was hoping they would get, who accounted for 50 goals during the year. Imagine we had 40+ more goals from our bottom 6?
      He gives big contracts, and fills bottom 6 with players who are cheap and not great, hoping for a career year and 'homerun'....it was the MO in Toronto too...their bottom 6 sucked as well. Their D sucked as well...players who weren't great,.

      @@jsebby2284 They were eliminated for all of Dubas' tenure with the Leafs and this is still his roster. That's the point.
