Goff is underrated. No one wants to admit he was a #1 overall pick for a reason. They don't want to acknowledge he regrouped and upped his game, even when he didn't have all the talent around him. So I'm happy the Lions got this deal done, and like any QB cycle, this won't look nearly as shocking this time next year.

Crazy he’s only 29. Rams treated him like he was some old washed out QB. Goff has a at the very minimum 6 years of great football in him.

@@deangelok7269 coaching and system makes a big difference. Not saying Mcvay is a crappy coach. He’s a great coach and has a Super Bowl from that trade. But when you don’t have full confidence is your QB to make audibles etc.. bad things come. Mcvay allowed Stanford to fully take over if he wanted and has a Super Bowl now. Campbell is allowing Goff to do the same and he’s doing great. No Super Bowl yet though. But we’ll see. I’m a Rams fan as well. So I do watch
@@nipsterr a lot of that has to do with the lions oc.. Some coaches provide different teaching.. But Goff definitely took control on some plays and it wasn't pretty.. .. I think the biggest difference is Goff is playing in the system how he were at cal.. When he played with the rams it wasn't the spread system

Good for him. People acted like his career was over after one bad season at a young age and now look at him. What’s funny is both teams won in the trade. LA got a Super Bowl and Detriot got a franchise QB and look to be a good team for years.

This was such a great trade and story. Stafford gets a ring before retirement. Goff gets a bag and on a super hot team and might have a shot for a ring himself. Feels like a win-win for both sides. Can't wait for this coming season.
I’ve been a lions fan 35 years and I’ve never been more happy with exactly where we’re at. And Goff was a must sign, he cemented a spot in lions history this year, we even chant his name. What a story behind that guy, and that’s why he’s going to do great things
Matt Stafford was the youngest QB to 10k and 20k yards respectively on a Lions team that had maybe 4 really good players. I thought they would fight to keep him, but Goff became the same guy for the Lions.
That sounds pretty exciting. Seems like everyone likes the lions and goff. It must be the same path for my panthers, they are low right now but young will get better
As a lions fan, Goff was brought in to maintain stability. He was the “vet” to show younger players they were bringing in how to be a professional. Most fans did not expect this from him and thought he was the mature journeyman who would keep the locker room stable and show all the rookies and free agents how to conduct themselves.
On the other hand, that’s a lot of money to pay someone who, in my opinion, doesn’t move the needle like someone paid in that range. When times get tough I need to see him put the team on his back and deliver perfect throws. Maybe this contract will change him, but I’m obviously rooting for my Lions and our players seem to love him.
Also the salary cap will keep going up and this contract will be leapfrogged by someone else. So in a year he might be the 7th highest paid, then the year after the 12th highest paid. So in the long run it might all look good.

If you're getting paid more than Mahomes, your team is overpaying, and it's part of why none of the contenders have had enough talent to get the job done. The 49ers were very close, but they are also paying their rookie QB in sandwiches and parking vouchers, which isn't going to last.

@@arigatogyro260 I mean, the defense for the Chiefs was great last year, but as far as weapons go it was about as mediocre as they come. So it's not like Mahomes was on a super team with elite weapons. It'd be pretty easy to argue that top to bottom the Ravens or the 49ers had a better roster than the Chiefs overall last year, and it was just Mahomes and Reid that made the difference.
That said, I agree that Andy Reid is a huge part of why they are successful. But I also think if they trade Mahomes, he'd find success elsewhere too, if not to the same degree. It's a lot like Brady. If rather than ending up in New England with their defense, he had played for a team like the Panthers he never would have accomplished anything, and nobody would know who he was today.
Lions fan. Goff was the one who got us up to that halftime lead. Drops to his well thrown balls, a weird should have been int to helmet bounce catch, and unfortunate rookie rb fumble our own half was enough to make the monkey paw curl.
Goff is a more than capable QB. He took the Rams to the Super Bowl when he wasn't as experienced. He would've taken the Lions, too, if it wasn't for mistakes that were frankly out of his control. He's had bad games, he's made mistakes, but even Tom Brady threw 4 pick in a game before. I want Goff to stay, and he knows the system and has become a part of the city. I'm happy for him, and I'm happy he's sticking around.

I really don't get contacts in this league. As someone pointed out earlier in the feed, no QB is better than Mahomes right now, so no QB should be getting paid more than him. My measure of an overpay I believe is fairly simple. When the lights are the brightest (playoff time) how do you play? Dak has not earned a pay increase regardless what the market for QBs is. I do not think he has even earned an extension.
As a Packer fan, if Pat keeps winning titles and these over paid QBs kept failing to stop him, this will come to a stop. The real best QB who’s always winning isn’t doing this.

I must be one of the few who knew that we were basically making a lateral transfer of QBs. I’ve watched Goff since he was at Cal. His worst year of football I saw was his first year with the rams, when Jeff fisher was the coach. He was good with Cal but the team wasn’t very good. The thing with Goff is that he has to be in the right kind of offense to succeed. He is not a guy that will win you games if he’s under pressure all the time. He’s a guy that if he gets hit a few times in a game will get happy feet. But he’s dead accurate and he sees the field very well. He’s also a confidence guy, which I’m not a fan of. He has to be believed in or he starts to doubt himself. I saw it his last season with the rams.

Jared Goff is the best qb in the NFL
Goff has shown he is REALLY good with the tools he's given. There's never that question of "He has so-and-so and isn't making it work." The Lion's have gotten better roster-wise every single year, and therefore Goff has looked better with those tools EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Is he flashy? No. Is he gonna run the ball? No. He's gonna play the pocket, analyze the field, throw the ball, and find his target.
I do wish the Lion's weren't so laissez-faire with their funds with only one-year of success, I do think it is a good look from anyone who wants to come to the team. The players LOVE playing for the Lion's and this shows that the Lion's love their players
