I never liked the Reirden hiring. He wasn't a good coach in Washington. I was surprised to see him on the Penguins bench.

Karlsson had 40 hits last season, which is pitiful. Sid had over 100! If Karlsson is going to pull majority of the ice time then they need a defenseman that will throw his body around to pair with him!

St. Ivany seems to be very mobile - a good skater with good flex - reminds me of Stackhouse.

Toronto was just eliminated again from the playoffs as they had been for years under Dubas. This Dubas fellow is overrated as hell. A Toronto youtube channel pointed out that three players that he let go have more goals in both the regular season and the playoffs as his core group for eight million less. Aside from Eller the players he put together suck.. especially the big contract for Karlson. He resigns Jarry for five million a year and how'd that work out? Giving away his first round draft pick in the process.. Rebuild? Yes he got rid of a couple of bad contracts.... but wtf is Karlson's Dubas produced Nothing in Toronto... history will repeat itself in Pittsburgh..

The hiring of Reirden's replacement may tell us more than we learned from the generic statement from Dubas announcing his dismissal.

DK, when we put Graves aside, Reirden had a pretty good reputation with defenders. Why wasn't he employed to run the pk? Was it no option to switch Velucci to take over the pp midseason?

Is it my imagination - probably so - but RG seemed to decline as the year went on with him starting on a good note.

It seems like both facts are true - the problem is that these players seem completely UNCOACHABLE - they seem to do what they want -When EK was asked about this he said that the players on the PP were too intelligent - they always saw a better pass.

The Pens’ PP has underachieved, though not to this past season’s level, for a long time. This group of players is basically going to do what they want. Reirden isn’t telling them to give up short handed chances and pass up quality shot opportunities.

Dubas just needs to go out and get some guys that are willing to (*figuratively*) die on the ice out there. Karlsson has done more with less on a PP and I think we will see more of that this coming season IF we get some younger blood.

I think the pp had a poor offensive strategy and aggressiveness. It's like they were afraid to give up a shorty. Maybe Gonchar will come out of retirement.

It seems like not firing coaches no matter what is a Pittsburgh sports problem in general DK. Something is wrong with the overall culture and it has to change for all 3 so. Almost seems scripted to me!

It's a little absurd to suggest that the PP was going to do what it was going to do regardless of coaching. And if it is true then nothing of value would be lost by moving on to someone else. Pens have used the same PP since 1991 . Pass around the perimeter . The Pens worst problem was giving up a goal instantly after tying or taking a lead .

FSG has RUN #66 outta the franchise , Dubas doing his best to be sure 87’s uncomfortable. It’s like they bought the Pens to mess with locals. No intentions of greatness whatsoever.

I may be one of the few Pens fans that likes Sullivan and don't want him fired. I think he is a good coach, good approaches. The complaints against him "he's lost the room" I don't think is accurate, 4 players from 2017, 5 at the beginning of the year, and it was all the best players. The guys that have been the issue on this team have been bottom 6 and bottom 4 Defence. The roster construction hasn't been as good over the last 5 years. They had a good bottom 6 one year, they won the division that year ('21 I think). I think the coach is a good scapegoat....I thought when they got rid of assistants last time they got rid of a good one in Gonchar, from all intents and purposes Vancouver players love him and all say he's made a difference for them. Not that I think the assistants now are ones I would say are must keeps, I wouldn't mind some assistant changes. But Sullivan I think is one of the better coaches in this league, I would hold on to him, try to construct a good roster around him. Spending 8+ million on Acciari (who I liked) and 6 journeyman bottom 6 players who haven't don't anything anywhere else to fill out your bottom 6 is not good roster construction. Just because you have a lot people to choose from, if they are all bad it is not the coach's fault. I also agree with your assessment DK on power play views. I think I feel the same.

Do you think Sid will play in the World Championships? Few days ago I thought there would be no chance for that, but then I realized it's hosted in Czechia, just like in 2015. Sid took part in the Worlds in 2015 and went on to win everything there was to win in the following two years. We all know how superstitious he is, so do you think it may play a role in him returning to the Worlds?

Keep hearing Jake selling his house being a big deal... Remember... hes due for a huge contract. He has a growing family. He could easily be looking to upgrade his house as he is going to be making likely double or more in salary. I don't put any stock into it. I don't believe it means Jake is less interested in resigning. He can not be a huge fan of Dubas and the way he handled the trade. Yet, still yern to be back in Pittsburgh with all his brothers. The two aren't mutually exclusive. And we saw this exact scenario played out w the Geno contract. And we retained him thanks for Sid. Sid will push for this. And I'm sure will reach out to Jake directly.

Either Jake's mortgage was up for renewal and he didn't want to lock in for fear that he would have to sell later this summer, or he was certain he wouldn't be back so he sold to his friend. Just the sale of the house alone makes the chances of him coming back seem like less than 5% 😢
