At that time I was 12 years of age. My father played the klarinet in a jazz band. Mr. Armstrong was frequently on the record player. Even as a kid I felt the positive vibs and the joy within this music. Getting older I loved blues , rock and country rock. I never forgot my fathers music. It helped me to love again this music back in the day. Miss my dad.

I was looking at some documentary where Armstrong said he forgot that he had recorded 'Hello Dolly'. And everywhere he would go to do a gig, people from the audience would yell out - 'Hello Dolly!' So one day he asked his band what is this 'Hello Dolly', and he had to be reminded that he had recorded it on an Album. He then had to go back and learn the lyrics because he forgot about it. It became one of his bigger hits. :)
dustee The documentary is Ken Burns' "Jazz" from PBS.
Anonymous Girl - That's it! :)
dustee I don't know much about him other than this is his only number 1 record. Is there any serious reason why he forgot about "Hello Dolly"?
He did smoke alot of reefer....
It looked like a cameo, but he had 3rd top billing.
I can listen to Armstrong endless, because of his positive and unique playing of course! And do it from 1965...His "The world trumpet" is known with the first sounds. Only he could be so unrepeatable! ❤❤❤2024 . 😊
