- There's a lot to be excited about with the Oklahoma Sooners ahead of the 2024 football season, but there are a couple of players flying under the radar. Jayden Gibson and Caiden Woullard will play bigger roles than many are anticipating this season.
As a big recruiting summer rolls on, the Oklahoma Sooners were included in the top four for Rivals four-star offensive line prospect Darius Afalava and the top two for consensus four-star edge rusher C.J. Nickson.
Patty Gasso and the Oklahoma Sooners softball program are facing a big offseason where they have to replace 10 seniors, including a number of All-American talents.

I hope so he just looks a little stiff. This is the year it will come together for him.
Need an edge player to pop! We have been waiting on R Mason Thomas, etc. I think the 2 true freshman DT's will produce but who is that next guy on the D line? D Terry, D. Williams will produce.
R Mason Thomas is 'him' if he can stay healthy. Downs is decent and very steady /consistent but not a true difference maker consistently.
Okoye will be one of the greatest DE's we've ever had, eventually. But he's unlikely to get serious playing time until next year.
PJ has all the potential but needs more snaps.
I'm not convinced Chavez is a good DE coach. He makes suspect decisions on who plays and when (eg: he finally puts in R Mason in the AZ game, he gets a sack and Chavez pulls him and doesn't put him back in for a long time, sigh!).
Chavez also has NOT developed the talent he has. PJ has seemingly got worse, not better. He has all the tools, all the talent, perfect size/speed/lenght/bend/etc and Chavez has made him worse somehow.
Any idea how many scholarship DLinemen on sooner roster?

@@CDSparks Being you're on here I assume you are a sooner fan. When you get the time if you could pull up roster and go down all the DLinemen and make a note for number on scholarship players. I could check the roster but not everyone is on scholarship. I wouldn't know if that
5' 10"-357 LBDT was on scholarship or not. LSU DLine been getting hammer by sooners for lack of numbers. Just want to see how much deeper ou is along the defensive front.

On O I see Jaquaize Pettaway and Jovante Barnes making some serious noise. Dark horse O candidates are Kaden Helms, JJ Hester, and Ivan Carreon (all are matchup nightmares and could surprise in key situations this year)

I feel you on that. I thought Bothroyd was going to make a bigger impact than he did. I think Woullard has more juice off the EDGE though.

I wouldnt mind seeing 6'6 240 Nickson playing TE with that frame and bball background. The GOAT TEs are all bball guys. Plus, he's pretty raw at DE/football, he's just a freak athlete.
I’m sure Nickson could be a big-time playmaker at tight end.

No doubt. There are a lot of talented dudes in the MAC. Especially pass rushers, because you have to be able to rush the passer in the MAC.
