First, we’re told that high flying offense ain’t gonna work in the sec, Oklahoma. You gotta play defense to compete over here. We get the best defensive coach in college football and start building a top ten defense and they say, you got too many questions on offense to compete over here in the sec, Oklahoma.
That SEC defense crap is 30 years old. Some of us remember some of their single digit playoff and championship game scores. They had defenses but no high powered offenses. I'm also old enough to have seen Saban pep up his offense after OU beat them about 10 years ago. His high powered defense got outrun by OUs high powered offense. If OU had a defense and hadn't forgotten to play the first quarter, they would have beat Georgia a few years ago. Bottom line is OU hasn't been a balanced team in quite a few years. They are getting the balance it takes to consistently win no matter who you are. Defense helps but it won't win games unless you outscore your opponent.
This team has a ton of potential, how far they can go will really depend on if their development this off-season and fall camp can match that potential. I’m so excited to see how we look, can’t wait!
Already bought 50 yard line tickets in the lower gallery for Nov. 23rd. Born and raised Bama fan, grew up watching Bear Bryant teams .Obviously the past decade and a half has been good. My first live Bama game. I'm rooting for you guys, I need you both to be undefeated on that day!
Jay, you are beginning to make sense, Oklahoma could have a record breaking season, offensively and denfensely. Oklahoma can win the SEC and, possibly the National Championship. In my opinion, if Oklahoma beats Texas they can beat anyone in the country.
@@timmytheimpaler Jackson Arnold threw 360 yards with a depleted football team and demonstrated his arm strength and his ability to fight through adversity. Although it was not a win we saw his capacity as quarterback. I watched him in highschool and cannot wait to see him lead this football team. Jackson Arnold is the least of our worries and he is going to light up the record books as a sophomore. Talent rises to its level and Oklahoma has talent now.
Just like OU vs Alabama in 2014 - Ohio State in 2017 - Texas last year we were never taken seriously. If ESPN picks against us - we will more than likely win.
Lmao. Is this because our running offense was soooo good last year with 3 guys who left for the NFL and 2 more gone will make it somehow better than a bad run game last year?
The OU offense will be super up-tempo, WHY because when you are playing against a front "D" the likes of SEC teams, that are monsters, run those monsters until they are GASSED.....WR should get open a lot and Jackson Arnold will have an AWESOME year. The running game is going to surprise people the most. BOOMER SOONER'S. Bring on the PADS...
If Oklahoma beats Alabama and Texas they will no doubt meet Georgia in the SEC title. It'll be tough, but they could beat Georgia. That's three elite SEC teams Oklahoma can beat. Oklahoma can do this. They are a really good team.
The pundits are playing the wait and see because they will always be cautious concerning OU, but they always give Texas the benefit of the doubt. As we know, Texas has a trend of disappointing.
OU has an all time winning record against SEC teams. W = 110. L= 27. Ties when they had them were 30. And we’re supposed to be worried about what!!!! 😂
Man that's a good question. I guess it all depends on how quickly Hawkins picks up the mental side of it all. I know one thing, I'm WAY more excited about Hawkins after seeing him play in the spring game. No you can't tell everything from that but I seen enough to know he is one hell of an athlete.
I think it's Thompson if you need it for a short stint, but if they need someone for a long stretch of games, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to go Hawkins.
@@LockedOnSooners I agree with that. Say Arnold goes down week 5 and not just for the game or the next one, , I think we would see Hawkins if he's ready at all. Would make sense to get him the experience if you can get by with it. BUT, here is hoping and praying for a healthy season across the board, I never like to see a kid go down. Doesn't matter who they play for, injuries absolutely suck.
Before expansion OU has a record of 110 vs. 27 with 30 tie games. Only schools not to play OU are Miss. St. and S. C. So why is it we’re not WORTHY??? We ARE the ones with the winning record!!!!!!!!!😂 That’s against SEC teams only.
@1:40 - 7:00 You guys are heavily overlooking offensive continuity especially alone the offensive line. Yes Oklahoma defense will be good but you’re also facing 4 teams with a solid oline and a returning qb Texas, Ole Miss, Missouri, Alabama with a solid defense.
@@LockedOnSooners At least 8 games for consistency. OLine play takes time you can’t bring guys together over a summer and think it’s just going to work. Also to be able to run the football.
@@k_b-ATL-2337 Seems to work for everyone else in the SEC. OU has been doing this with the OL for years! We’re always Frankensteining OLs together throughout the year. Right? The math ain't mathing.
This OL has a lot of snaps under their belts. BB has the Fall and three games to bring this together and make a solid unit out of them. I'm excited.

OU will win 9+ games If the defense is top 10
