‘Mucked things up’: Douglas Murray slams ‘selfishness’ of Joe Biden

- Author Douglas Murray has slammed the “selfishness” of President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, for waiting so long to announce he would not be participating in the upcoming presidential election.
“There could have been at least a year for Democrat candidates to put themselves forward, put forward their prospectus for leadership, have an open debate among themselves and for the best man or woman to win,” Mr Murray told Sky News host Caroline Di Russo.
“But because Joe Biden hung on with such clenched fingers onto the presidency, the fact that Jill Biden egged him on even when she …. did see that he couldn't even walk onto a stage without a detailed map of the terrain suggests that actually, these people who have been saying what patriots they are have really mucked things up for their own political side, their own political party.”
I am a public elementary school teacher in the US. Mr. Murray is absolutely correct that money is not the problem. It is failed curriculum and leadership.
And teacher training in universities. Do tell what courses you took to teach reading? Or mathematics? I went through the university degree and "training". Zero was taught on "how to teach kids to read". I went back to phonics and how I was taught to read. And "curriculum" is irrelevant. Once you close that classroom door, you teach what you want. We all know that. The curriculum is full of empty words and phrases that are meaningless. A good teacher teaches reading, math and then science. From a just retired teacher.

I am also.a retired teacher in Australia. I agree totally. We taught phonics and ignored the stupidity that children will somehow obsorb reading just from listening to adults tell them what it says!
We need to teach the basics first!!
It begins with the universities and the unions. They are attracting ideologically driven nuts. Discipline is verboten because it is disparate. We can’t discuss the root causes and commit resources where it would matter. Teachers are more interested in creating foot soldiers for a revolution than educating children.
But all of it begins in universities that perform the “studies” radicals can point to that gives them cover to enact programs like ESL, criminal justice reform , harm reduction and gender woo ….that have failed miserably to achieve what they promised.
We have a huge problem and education needs to be rebuilt but watch the democrats wail when that happens
I actually agree with both of you entirely. However, where I teach, teachers are very policed. So, to a degree, of course we teach what they need, but unfortunately we are in a very controlled environment.

I personally don’t see any qualities in Harris that would make her an effective leader. I am not aware of any accomplishments she has that I would consider impressive or note worthy. The few things she was put in charge turned out to be a disaster. She also failed miserably on her supposed diplomatic assignment to de-escalate the powder keg scenario between Ukraine and Russia. She visited Ukraine where she gave an incoherent word salad speech that called for Ukrainian membership into NATO. If you wanted to deliberately give a speech to amplify tensions between Russia and Ukraine it would almost impossible to give one that was worse than Kamala gave. She is however the perfect puppet because she is a blank canvas. Kamala has no core convictions or ideology, she has also demonstrated that she is not weighed down by ethics rising to fame and influence by sleeping with marred men. It’s also clear Kamala is not handicapped by critical thinking she will enthusiastically push whatever talking points or narrative she is given and when her adversaries push back or challenge what she has to say. She can immediately shut it down by accusing them of racism. Unlike many other presidents through out history whose body’s have physically broke down because due to the long hours and severe stress that comes along with constant worrying Kamala never works hard and is resistant to suffering from stress or anxiety because she doesn’t care enough to be worried.
I certainly do not favour KH but the personal insults encouraged by DT has taken politics to a grimy place. Personal insults are childish and vacuous. You don’t get to hear about policies or what either party are actually going to do to improve the electorate lives .
