As we say in Italian: Fatti una coccola! (give yourself a hug!).
This is a relaxing little video, but also it is what I have some leftover from a french baguette, you know when it is getting a bit hard, but we still want to love it!
Here is the simple and super delicious little recipe, which I am sure it would probably work with any bread you might have forgotten about, (within reasons).
INGREDIENTS FOR 2 PEOPLE (generous)
- 1/2 French Baguette even if it is a bit hard
- 3/4 Cup of Milk of your choice (I am using a Pistachio Milk, but any milk will do)
- 1tsp vanilla extract
- 2 Eggs
- Your choice a little cinnamon... it's so good!
- 2 tsp of unsalted butter.
- 2TBSP powder Sugar
- Maple Syrup
-1 Banana (but Strawberries, Apples, Pears, Peaches, Blueberry... will also do)
PROCESS
Cut the round of baguette about 1-1/2 fingers width, in a bowl, mix the milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, mix well.
I like to use a dish for this next step but a pan also works.
Lay the pieces of bread flat one next to the other, pour over the egg/milk batter, let it soak and then turn each piece over. Depending on how hard your bread is you might have to let it soak for 5 to 10 minutes... even 15.
Now start heating a pan, with just a tiny pat of butter. when hot place the flame on medium and add your soaked bread. let it SIZZLE a while until it comes of the pan without sticking, it will have a nice a crispy crust. Add a bit more butter and flip each piece of bread.
When nice and golden turn off flame and plate.
Now sprinkle with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup. Add your favorite fruit and enjoy.
** EXTRA DECADENT TIP: if you have whipped cream on top, is just to die for!
ENJOY.
Tag me on IG at CiaoLisa if you make it.
Love,

My mom and now I make French toast with leftover French bread and in oil. Never butter. I used to add milk, but I prefer just with the egg, vanilla, and a little salt. I like how it creates an egg âcrustâ instead of soaking in. Idk. But now I want French toast. đ Beautiful weekend video đ
Thank you for the tips!!! đ€ it was so good!â€ïžâ€ïž
