- President Biden gave the keynote address at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s annual Days of Remembrance ceremony at the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday. The ceremony honored the 6 million Jews killed during the Holocaust, along with other victims and survivors.

The West and the free world seem to be slow in comprehending the true nature of current events. Much of this delay appears to stem from deficiencies in the educational system, which fails to impart a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of democracy and instill an appreciation for its values. I am so very sorry. My family immigrated from Eastern Germany to the USA via Ellis Island in the mid 1920's (right after WWI). Life was not good there in Germany & they also heard that there was going to be another war. They wanted out. I wish your family were given that opportunity to leave before the 2nd war occurred. Again, please accept my heartfelt condolences.... (My Dad was in the U.S. Army. We lived at Patch Barracks in Stuttgart, Germany 1963 to 1966. The BEST assignment ever!!! The only thing is that we could not have communication with our cousins behind the Iron Curtain. But there was a happy ending in 1989.... the week the Wall came down! Daddy went over to meet them, and then took Mom, my son & me in 1990.)
