  • FocusWriter is a simple, distraction-free writing environment. It utilizes a hide-away interface that you access by moving your mouse to the edges of the screen, allowing the program to have a familiar look and feel to it while still getting out of the way so that you can immerse yourself in your work. It's available for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X, and has been translated into many different languages.

Damn Elementary OS is slick looking. They have a number of cool projects coming up so looking forward to seeing app-reviews of Slingshot, Marlin etc when those applications reach a more stable state :)

I have been looking for something like this. Thanks. I found this from your Linux Mint 17 setup series. Got it loaded on openSuse 13.2! KDE version

does it track the days you have accomplished your writing goals on a calendar, thus showing the kind of streak one might be on?

Hello Sir. I just downloaded this software, but i'm trying to figure out how to configure a page with 18 lines double spaced and approximately 18 words a line. I can't figure this out. Wondering if yourself or your fans can help. Most sincerely.

@InfinitelyGalactic Ah, I see. That explains the e logo XD. I was thinking Elive at first XD but the logo isn't quite the same.

After my awesome WordStar 4.0 from 1987 this is my best word procesor ever, i wont only integrate statistic with page on full screen without gui only in motiv. Like in nano, and add option to disable audio keypress when type writer mode on. I wont auto save indicator or time setup for auto save like - after 1 min save. + chapter menu - "conspect" and export to PDF. If that option will be added in new version program will be perfect. Word Star is best for me only problem is i must convert all my file to modern format coz if not i need old printer compatible with dos.

Thanks for the video guide. I would also let people know about Ultimate eBook Creator - which is probably the easiest to use to create ebooks for Amazon Kindle.

Great app; awful review. You can customise the background of the typing area, and also make it a little like a free Omniwriter but with more variation by downloading copyright-free new age music and playing several tracks on repeat, giving a relaxing background ambience. I use it to write poetry.

this timing feature is the most stupid thing i ever heard. it will result in a sudden and unsuspected end in what ever you are writing
