I found that setting a background that is related to the genre that you were writing about was really useful with this.
I find it attractive the layout and the calm you feel. However two things made me a bit doubtful if it the writing software for me. 1. I could not figure out how to change the font size. 2. It is only one page, you dont start a next page , so difficult to follow the sequence if you want to write a book or novel.
I do most of my actual writing in this at the moment (not wanting the stress factor of Write or Die) and enjoy customising the background. I listen to classical music at the same time, which creates a great writing atmosphere. Love the typewriter sound too.
When I've finished the scene, I save in txt then copy and paste this into the relevant part of Word's Outline View (as body text).
I Just download it using Debian I am loving the typewriter option and the themes. Great video it made life much easier.
Good review. I used to do the longhand thing until my hand started to painfully tell me just how much it would rather type than write. I think what it is - aside from the lack of distraction - is that it's very hard to go back and edit while writing in long hand. You don't have much of a choice but to go forward.
Nowadays I record my rough drafts into a mic, for largely the same reason (and very easy on the hands), but if Focuswriter had a feature which would allow you to temporarily turn off the ability to edit what I have written - like the typewriters of yore - that would be a selling point for me.
Jeremiah McDonnell Good idea on the mic. When I write my first draft, I leave extra space between paragraphs and extra wide margins for my first round of editing.
im currently using that app and im loving it! but like you said i foind myslef in the libre office for mre detial tunning
This looks to be a very cool application. It never occurred to me that bling around a word processor just might be interfering with my thought processes while banging out a letter. I also thought that typewriter sound was cool, but I can see how some might think it annoying, but it's pretty cool, nonetheless. Good demo.

This is cool but I rather use google docs even though it has its limits it lets you print it and color and lets you edit but good work on the video!
