Honestly when I first heard people talking about Floor Jansen, I didn't think much of it, and even my one manager at work said people refer to having what's known as a Floorgasm when they listen to her sing. When I listened to her for the first time...she's the embodiment of a music goddess. Some videos out there where they compared her against talentless pop stars singing covers of the same song and these poppies fall flat at their limits, Floor just takes it to another level.

@@timur9546 I have and she is very talented and the song you refer to I do prefer above floor's or Tarja's but in all fairness she does studio recordings in an ideal situation which is different than standing on a stage with 90k audience prefroming live with no autoqueu.
Natalia though as she mentioned herself is not a rock or for that matter symphonic metal singer and the song she has done just suited her voice.
Floor is other worldly in both talent and stage presence, wow!

Floor blew everything out of the water live versus other singers on this list sang in studio. Show any of the singers off live against Floor Jansen. You metal heads know, live is where it counts.
Everytime she sings, she always blew my mind.
I love so many of the other singers on this list (arch enemy is my favorite band) but Floor is just otherworldly. I've been lucky enough to see Nightwish live with her and it will absolutely bring you to tears. She's a once in a lifetime talent
Tatiana is my all time favorite. I also really like Cammie Gilbert - Oceans of Slumber. She has a beautiful voice. One that I recently discovered is Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara. I heard the song Weatherman but It's not metal. Its more or less hard rock but she has a very nice harsh tone and rasp that sounds really cool to me. I think she could sing metal very effectively if she ever chose to.
oooo, nice visual effect on Tati's last scream. Basically how my brain felt when I first heard it. She melted my face off in the best way possible. I love Tatiana and think she's the best vocalist in metal now. But it's so refreshing to find a dope ass band nowadays where all members are experts in their craft.

And for me, who loves singing like Floor or Brittney Slayes ("TEST YOUR METAAAAL"!) is just boring pop singing.

I was listening to Ghost Love Score earlier this year when my 7 year old daughter came in and took the headphones from me to have a listen. She demanded I start it from the beginning and she was literally quivering listening to this. Completely enthralled by the raw power and majesty of this performance.

Really, all of Nightwish's female vocalists (and Marco when he sings!) are great, each in their own way. But Floor is absolutely my favorite of the lot. She's every bit as amazing live as she is in on the pre-recorded album, too!
I'm so glad you included Britney Slayes from Unleash the Archers on here. She's amazing, and I don't think she gets as much recognition as she deserves.

I am so happy someone finally put Unleash the Archers on one of these lists. I know they are a newer player in the metal scene, but they are absolutely incredible, and Brittany Hayes' voice is absolutely perfect for their sound.

I'm a 68 year hard rock / metal lover ( I still play it, keeps me young) In 2011 I watched a documentary series called " metal evolution" And one of the sub genres
was power metal and and it was for me the first time i'd heard Nightwish with Tarja , then skip to 2020. i'm locked down and for the first time I heard
"ghost love score" live Buenos Aires and Wacken Open air , with Floor Jansen, I was brought to tears.
Cool !! And then to know Floor only got famous outside the metal sceen in Holland because of some stupid voice show like 2 years ago!! Keep IT metal pops đ€đ€

I would've put Lzzy Hale and Maria Brink into the official list, personally, but that's just my opinion on the list. That is one hell of a line-up no matter what order any of it goes. These are all some amazingly talented performers.

Just wanna say I loved Nightwish back in the day, but kinda fell off with Anette. But Floor is amazing!
Side note, I was shocked when I saw that Jinjer was using the same vocalist for the rough vocals. I'd only heard them in passing before. But it was like a switch when she changed from normal to rough. Excellent.
Anette was very good, just different.
In Japan, a lively metal scene has been established in recent years with female bands that are extremely worth listening to, such as LOVEBITES (played Wacken 2018), NEMOPHILA (relatively new) and HANABIE, all with excellent female vocalists. Also highly recommended are BAND-MAID, DOLL§BOXX, BRIDEAR, MARY'S BLOOD and many more.

I think people consider Black sabbeth and Ozzy music to be metal and that's some weak stuff compared to else is out there. They are technique talented solo driven metal. Way too fast to be just considered prog rock in my book.

I love how every other comment, almost every, mentions floor jansen.. since I heard her voice she has stolen the #1 spot for my favorite and will never be replaced. No female vocalist like her. She's a masterpiece in every way
Nightwish kicks ass with Floor Jansen, but I still prefer Tarja's voice. To each his own. PS... I love AC DC with Brian, but will always prefer Bon Scott. Also, Van Halen with Sammy rocks, but the songs I love best were with David Lee Roth as frontman.

People miss this point, favourite means something more than octave range, breath holding, etc. thatâs a technical appraisal. Floor does everything itâs really high level. But itâs the character of her voice that makes her my favourite singer in general.

Itâs interesting that pretty much all of these phenomenal singers come from three places: Scandinavia (including Finland), the Netherlands, and Canada, even if you include some other greats like Sharon Den Adel, Cristina Scabia, Cobra and the Lotus, Delain, and Annette, every one except Cristina are from those three places.

I'm well represented here. I'm of Dutch heritage and am a Canadian citizen. I've seen Lee Aaron lots of times and partied with her back in the eighties. However, everyone of the nine are amazing talents. I'd pick Floor as my favourite but just my opinion.

Gotta give Lzzy Hale and Maria Brink some love. I have been a Nightwish fan since 2008 and thought it was all over after Tarja left. Annette was good and in my opinion fronted their best album. After watching Floor in Wacken I knew every other female metal singer was playing for second place. All of these ladies are talented but Floor Jansen can go out on stage and do things that others canât do in a studio.

All VERY great, but Floor is on another level. Nightwish has been blessed to have two of the top 5 or so female leads of all time. Brittney should be higher IMHO though. Hard to nail this down to just 10. Old school, but I'd put Doro Pesch, Otep Shamaya, Cristina, Kobra Paige, etc on this list, but the list has to have an ending somewhere.

There's a lot of well known singers on this list I have a singer from a small band that deserves to be on a list like this. She is certainly in my top 10. Fans of her band call her a siren or banshee. I am talking about Zora from Blackbriar an amazing Dutch band. Good songs from them that really show her amazing vocals: Cry Of A Banshee, Arms Of The Ocean, The Seance and as a treat Ready To Kill. Their first song so they were still finding their sound. It's the only song where Zora screams ^-^.

I could put on the same level Ronnie James Dio who definitelly had one of the greatest voice in metal and Tom Araya who doesn't really do anything like singing. I gave male voices example because I am not really listen to female metal bands. When I am in mood to hear a beatifull female voice I would rather choose from one of my favorite Rock or sometimes classical music singer. What I tried to emphasized was that Tatiana's mixture of charisma, deep growl and natural singing ability should put her on any of "Metal Frontwoman" list. On which place depends really from personal taste.

Floor is just unreal, passion range and talent, that being said there are just to many amazing singers to have a top 10, they all sing in different styles and different genres, besides you're missing some of the greats, Anneke van Giersbergen, Cristina Scabbia, Lzzy Hale, Sharon den Adel, Angela Gossow, Anette Olzon, Charlotte Wessels and Otep Shamaya, and that's just to name a few there are just to many out of this world talented ladies in metal to have a top 10.
Don't forget maria bringing dont care what people say but she goes hard every show who cares id she does stage performances and all cuz I see alot of people trying to say she's trying to hard to be Madonna no its called art so let her do her thing lol she's still pretty talented and very metal lol
