    Honestly it's really interesting to see how the two interact in Kenobi compared to Episode IV. Here, Kenobi's panicky and genuinely terrified, still lost after the fall of the Republic. Vader has harnessed his anger, his rage, his obsession with Kenobi and converted it into power, and it shows. Then there's Episode IV, where Kenobi has long since accepted whatever his future may be while Vader... hadn't changed one bit. he was still vengeful, still obsessed over Obi-Wan, and that was the difference. One had managed to move on, and the other had not. Vader didn't even get the satisfaction of seeing Kenobi's corpse, nor the satisfaction of truly beating his master and redeeming his previous loss because Kenobi had chose to die there instead of killed. He really did become more powerful than Vader could imagine, because Vader lost in both spirit and mind when he struck him down. No satisfaction, no vengeance, no corpse. All that was left of his vengeance and obsession was a robe and a lightsaber.

    This hits even harder for Obi-Wan when you think he’s realizing right now what has been told to us by Lucas since the movies came out: that Darth Vader is the combination of all the villains of the Prequels. Adding up to the trauma of knowing this monster is actually Anakin, Obi is also most likely seeing in him the “ghosts” of Maul, Dooku and Grievous. And all the pain and fear he endured at their hands is coming back to haunt him.

    • @brandontyler1754
      @brandontyler1754 Před rokem +37

      I don't know if that so much is coming back to haunt him or if it is more the fact that Obi-Wan feels the weight of all the atrocities the empire has committed or that he can imagine that the empire has committed because he wouldn't finish the job on mustafar. He has the guilt knowing that whatever terror Vader has unleashed on the Galaxy is his fault for not ending him when he had the chance.

He was also forced to chop down his brother’s limbs and to watch him immolate in the fiery lava of Mustafar and constantly suffer and live in regret for the rest of his life until only he realised that this all was never about him and he had to become one with the force in order for the next generation of Jedi to rise. His brother still wore Jedi robes, carried a sky-blue lightsaber, and his eyes weren’t even yellow. He was only a fallen Jedi; an angry, grieving emo. But now, he is fully transformed into a dark obelisk of power. His lightsaber blood-red. His breathing haunting, and a terrifying new voice. And it is all hitting Kenobi full-force.
