    Best bike ever! Especially for big people. Im 6'2 350 lbs and i ride really hard! And ive never had any issues with the bike not even a flat tire. Ive owened the bike for about 15 months and close to 1000 miles. I highly recommend for any big guys looking for an ebike at a reasonable price!

    I love mine and closing in on 700 miles, had to get an extra battery because I love to ride so much. Just got back from doing a personal best 64.3 miles in just over 4 hours. The first battery lasted for 38.8 miles. I did 2.5 miles on 1 pas, 5 miles on 2 [did not notice speed change when I engaged the 2, which I take that to mean I was peddling it myself] Then did 10 miles at pas 3, and 9.3 on pas 4. Then ran pas 5 until the battery ran out at 38.8 miles. Started new battery on pas 4 and ran that for the rest of the day except the last 4 miles on pas 5 when I knew I would make it to my destination. I still had 3 bars when I stopped. My wife was the chaser [with the car], she was tired LOL, so we called it a day. : ) If you have the alltrails app, I recorded it under Papa Blue Shirt

    I wanted to check in with you as you were one of the main reasons I went with the Ecotric. I am approaching 11,000 miles. I am still riding the original front tire. The rear probably has 6 or 7 thousand miles on it. I changed it when I changed the free wheel as it seemed like a good time with the wheel already off. I still have not had any flats. The second year I had it, I figured I should check the air in the tires. I was running at about 5 lbs, no wonder it was running out of battery sooner LOL I bumped up the air pressure and can actually ride it now without the battery. Only downside is I can feel the bumps more on the rode. Anyway, still super satisfied with the purchase😀

    "Ah" stands for Amp-hours. Combined with the voltage, this tells you how much energy the battery can hold. In your case, 36V X 12.5 Ah means you have 450Wh (Watt-hours) of energy storage in the battery. So if you were drawing a constant 450W from the battery, it should last 1 hour.

  • @kirwan1234
    @kirwan1234 Před 4 lety +1

    Nice review, hope mine gets here soon. For the electrical theory: Ah is Amps x hours. That is, the battery should provide 12 amps for one hour (or 1 amp for 12 hours). At 36V, that's 432 watts for one hour, so the battery may also be labelled as 432wh (watt-hours). Nearly full power for an hour... except reality seldom matches theory. Seems plenty for this bike though.

    I have less than 1000 miles on mine, I’m 6 foot and also have a little problem putting my feet down. They just make it. Like you I’m extremely happy with the bike for the price. I haven’t had any flats yet But I put 8 ounces of slime in each Tire, and I don’t take it off road. I keep the tires between 15 and 17 pounds per square inch. The only thing that bugs me on the bike was when I’m running in pedal assist 5 and I’m in 6th or 7th gear. I’m just cranking out to no resistance So I replaced the rear Free wheel sprockets which were 14t to 28t Within 11t to 28t Free wheel.

    • @HybridDrJ
      @HybridDrJ  Před 4 lety

      remixread Hey - that sounds interesting. So what you did was basically increase the resistance so you have to pedal harder in power setting 5?

    • @remixread
      @remixread Před 4 lety +2

      Dr. Jory Basso yes, but it also increases the ratio of rotations for the rear wheel in relation to a single rotation of the front pedal crank. Your 7 Speed Shimano freewheel, should have 12-14-16-18-21-24-28T. I changed my rear free wheel to 11-13-15-18-21-24-28T so gears 5,6 and 7 give me a faster potential speed at the cost of muscle power but gears 1,2,3 and 4 match the original Shimano so hills are not any harder. I have the same bike. I've loved it, except at a thousand miles it started dying on me. Total loss of power, intermittently. I won't go into the whole painful story, but suffice it to say it was not fun finding someone who could diagnose and fix it. Cost me $250 bucks and LOTS of miles schlepping to get it fixed. These bikes are great for the price, but who do you go to when it starts having trouble? There's the rub.

They did try to help, but it’s a very ragtag kind of operation. Here’s the positive side; I bought the bike for $700 with 2 miles on it! And I’ve loved the bike. It’s totally changed my life. Questions for the doc and anyone else. What have you found to be the ideal psi on the standard tires? Also... what gear and pedal assist do you find yourself using most? I'm a beginning biker but did a 20 mile ride today using power level 3 or 4 most of the ride with continuous pedaling. Still had 2 bars of power when i got back. Thinking i should be able to stretch that to 30 to 40 as i get in better shape and spend more time in the lower assist levels.

    • @HybridDrJ
      @HybridDrJ  Před 4 lety

      Jeffrey Block hi Jeff - i usually ride at an inflation of around 18PSI. I feel that lower than that makes you more susceptible to flat tires (although gives a little more cushion). As for power level it depends on if I’m trail or road. On a major road I’ll usually ride at 4-5 most of the time. On a trail I’m usually 2-4. You will definitely drain the battery faster on 5 so if you want to max out battery power than 3 is prob best.
