What a wonderful way to take encounters into the third dimension. Brilliant!
I love doing stuff like this, really makes the game feel different :)

The grappling hook is a really cool idea! 😮
Thanks :)
Elephant snot, or the sticky tack for posters works in a pinch. I use it to hold minis while painting, but used it during game play to slap a horde of minis to the side of a building. Gave a World War Z feel to the 4 player stuck at the top of the tower fighting for their lives.
In a pinch, but I've always found the risk of peeling off unnerving... This method is pretty secure :)
Improvement idea for climbing mobs: attach a cocktail stick to a strong magnet, then attach another strong magnet to the base of the monster. Now you can rotate them 360 degrees, and might even be able to have them crawling on the underside of rock bridges or jutting cliffs.
I love the carrion crawler. Also, of the various crafter channels I watch, you have the ABSOLUTE BEST tag line.
This is why I back you on patreon. I watch alot of other yt hobby crafters, and they have great builds. But you're the first guy I've seen make modular 3d builds that make me go " yeah, I'm definitely building that!" I've almost finished my first set of dungeon and stable tiles, and compared to the new wizkids tiles or dwarvenforge ones, your tiles are better for 3d play and for saving hundreds of dollars. Thank you so much for sharing this system. I can't wait to see what's next!
Thanks Jason :) I've got a lot more planned for the system, so hopefully I'll continue to earn your support!
As a fellow patron, I couldn't have said it better myself!
I've been loving your ideas! Doing a painting test tomorrow and starting on my own set soon!
Awesome :) plenty more coming that'll work with what I've already released too!
Great video! I love the grappling hook
Thanks man! I've got a player who loves it :)
another great idea! love how your channel is progressing - keep up the great work! vertical spiders are definitely creepy... no pun intended. love to watch you paint - therapeutic and educational
Thanks! I was a little worried about the painting section actually, I wasn't sure it'd be popular compared to the terrain sections but it's nice to hear comments like that :)
Looks spooky!
Great video, Matthew!
Well, it did a good job of creeping the hell out of my players!
Just found your channel and subbed. For a cool grappling hook a large treble hook with the barbs filed off and the point dulled would fill the bill decently.
I honestly considered that, but I didn't know if they could be easily blunted enough to be certain you wouldn't hurt yourself - I don't fish myself :) Let me know if you try it and it works out :)
@@RPArchiveOfficial Oh yeah you just squeeze the barbs down with pliers or take down with a file same with the point of the hook. We did this as kids with big treble hooks making them into grappling hooks for our GI Joe's that was back when they were a foot tall in the 60's and 70's.
Good to know :)
This is cool as hell
Yeah I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been playing with it... :D
Great solution for players that always cast spider climb!
Definitely!
I've made grappling hooks before for a WW2 commando game ( or a WW2 game that featured a commando raid I can't recall which) for a friend of mine.
I do love the tooth pick idea as opposed to magnets on everything as I find magnets unnecessarily fiddly and hard to work with and for what they are I think they are expensive.
I like to keep my stuff as cheap as possible whilst still maintaining the quality (DM Scotty was the first guy I got into on youtube and he has cheap and clever ways of doing stuff.)
So this is right up my street and I've got loads of spiders I did for a game that my son was playing which required caves an spiders nests and eggs and a colossal web with a gigantic queen spider that I rigged up to sit on top.
So I have a multitude of spiders with which to try this plus many other insects (I bought one of those Halloween packs filled with bugs) I think this would work terrifically in the future, because lets face giant insects and arachnids always pop up some where don't they?
Yes they do ;) and not sure if you've tried this, but magnets get a lot cheaper when you buy in bulk?
@@RPArchiveOfficial I've got to get the right sizes first I think then learn to work with them then buy in bulk.
Definitely agree. But in the longer run, they're cheaper than in small quantities :)
Ok I know this is an older post but...
👍🏻👍🏻on the beard!
Great idea. I would use acrylic for platforms (I'm lucky to have a laser cutter)
Hey if you have access to nice kit, take advantage :)
Great job Matt, week after week i'm surprised by what you've made/changed and how easy it can be to make/modify.
Keep up the awesome content and i hope you have a great week ahead :D
Thanks Matt, just wait till you see next week ;)
@@RPArchiveOfficial (heavy breathing sounds) :D
Great hack! I will definitely use this.
Semi off topic, but Wargames Atlantic has a GREAT giant spider kit.
Great inspiration, thanks alot :)
Reaper bones are only glued?
Wow thats handy to know
Not sure about reaper, but these wizkids unpainted ones certainly are :) you can probably do a similar thing with reaper that I did to the carrion crawler, cut the base off chunk at a time
Thanks
Brilliant!
Thanks man, and welcome to the channel :)
Great video. Would be curious to see any ideas you have for flying creatures that are different from store-bought systems.
It's something I want to do something on, but I haven't thought about in detail yet - give me time :)
its Halloween soon so plenty of light weight spiders to use :D
Haha yes... I really need to do a Halloween one shot this year - if I can find time to prepare it!
Cool ideas
Thanks Chris :)

Thank you for this, I honestly didn't think about that...
thanks
"A fair bit of string" - About ten inches to represent the standard 50ft of Rope?
Pretty much :)
