    Good tip not to forget, always tie from front to back bumper and over the top of any boards, it won't snap then with the wind trying to rip it off. All looking great and always a good idea for the floor lockers / wine store.not forgetting their is a ton of space in places you haven't thought of yet to do. Kick space under the unit can hold a mountain of stuff, bagged bedding and clothes for one. Coming together now.

    I floored the entire downstairs of my house in similar flooring except for the kitchen and WC. After a while your brain get frazzled and it is easy to cut the wrong side or end of a board or two.
    Will you be using the kitchen floor hatches to store fruit/veg/booze to keep it cool? For the sake of moving a few ballast bricks you get a nice cool storage place. (Make what looks like a fixed end to one such space, but that is removable and you also have a nice place to hide small valuables.)

      Yes we’ll definitely be storing veggies / beer etc in them in this half of the boat!

    I absolutely admire you for taking on all these tasks 👏. I love that sage green colour, you don't want to use too dark colours . Have you thought about just painting darker green stripes or squares to break it up? Love following you both and watching the amazing transformation of your Narrowboat ❤

    My main thought is that in a small space colours should be kept light. Dulux used to do a series of white-not-quite paints. The colours are faint/pastel. You have made the external traditional perhaps Farrow and Ball’s traditional colours for the interior may be something to explore or Dulux’s heritage collection????

I have seen problems .When a wood floor, has not had the room to swell .Like to see people ,learning new skills..And winning .

    I bought a tin of white but when opened it was green, just a bit darker than yours, it is really nice from engine area to the galley where it changes to dark deep aqua from Zinsser:.a very tough paint, has a slight satin finish, I'm very pleased, the dark aqua works well with the white satin above. Leave it as it is , is my advice, it's not till evething comes together that you can be sure, and if it gets a bit scuffed or dirty, you can refresh next year. I have just had to open a new tin of Zinsser, it's not easy to mix if it's been sitting around BTW. I had missed a bit firstvtim around, so I just dabbled with a brush and it now has a nice wavy look if looked at from a different angle, I rather like it, even though it was unintentional.

You could try ordering a few sample colors and sit with them for a bit so you can see them in all the different types of light. ultimately, this boat is for you, and you should love being in it, so a color that makes you feel joy is important.

      A lot lol. I'd really recommend buying a boat you can immediately move onto unless you are retired/in between jobs and therefore have the time for the work! Take it from me, it’s hard to do this with a job or business too. If you do buy a project boat, then I'd tell you to estimate spending about £25k on renovations. However long you think it'll take, double it. Double it and THEN add some if you have no DIY experience. And, don't forget you also need to pay your monthly boat fees (for mooring, license, insurance etc) and your rent/mortgage + bills of your home while also paying for the renovations and the upfront cost of the boat. :)

    • @robbienoel3892
      @robbienoel3892 Před 5 měsíci

      Thank you for the quick response, I think if I were to buy a boat I’d probably end up living on it full time while doing it up gradually, ideally I was thinking taking a 30k loan out buying a boat for around 20-25k and then using the rest for upgrades. This way of living is exactly what I need I’m just weighing up the pros and cons.

    Hi, I'm a narrowboat liveaboard.
    Just wondering why four large bilge inspection hatches were needed, with consequent loss of rigid insulation board, rather than one ? And why not just have a spyhole ?
    A vapour barrier between the plywood base floor and the laminate underlay. also seems necessary, to stop warm damp air in the cabin meeting cold air coming up from the floor and forming condensation.
    Just saying. No shouting in any replies please.

    • @mike-driftwoodfolk2651
      @mike-driftwoodfolk2651 Před 5 měsíci

      Hey thanks for your comment .. After doing alot of research and talking to those like yourself, the majority of people said to have atleast 1 inspection hatch in each room just to check the bilges but also to remove or add ballast to stabalaize the boat after shifting furniture on board and the final fit out is done. Can't lift a brick through a spy hole 🙈.
      The insulation will be glued to the underside of the hatches so we won't lose any heat in those areas too.
      As for a vapour barrier we've blacked the boards underneath so they won't suck up any dampness or condensation and we've also insulated in the bilges so not really any need for a vapour barrier as this will regulate the heat pretty well.
