This channel represents my small attempt to reduce the stigma surrounding depression and anxiety, particular among younger males. If you're curious about me, or want to get in touch, please feel free to do so via my personal website (danielrosehill.com) or through my main CZcams channel (danielrosehill.com/youtube).
Love your vids and seeing your experience with different meds. It’s so interesting how these meds work so differently for every individual. I started with fluoxetine (10 yrs), sertraline (7 yrs), escitalopram (2 months), and now vortioxetine (presently taking). The first two worked and then stopped working for me. Lexapro didn’t help me at all, and currently, trintellix is working pretty well. I find my depression is noticeably better and my anxiety is only slightly better. I’m increasing to 20mg tomorrow. Hopefully the increase will improve both issues a little bit more. Overall, trintellix is working and I’m pretty satisfied, but it really is a trial and error kind of deal. Look forward to seeing more vids. Take care!! 😊
Yup. All seems to come down to our very unique brains and biochemistry. Good luck on the Trintellix!
First want to say that I appreciate your videos, a lot because I am in much the same situation. But, thought to mention that the fact is that Zimelidine (under the name Zelmid) was the first SSRI to be developed. The work on it was led by the Nobel laureate Arvid Carlsson (a Swede just like me) and the pharmaceutical company, which was then only called Astra. Due to a very rare effect on the liver and nervous system, it disappeared from the market quickly. I think it was launched in 1982.
Vortioxetine by the way, I now take 15 mg for depression and generalized anxiety, and I, unlike you, respond well to them. In addition to manageable anxiety, the most important thing is that I feel clearer in my head with better concentration and memory. Before Fluoxetine, I just felt numb from it, the famous looking glass phenomenon many experience with SSRIs.
Hope you find a medication that will help you in the future!
How’s it going with Luvox?
Cant wait for your update
Nice video Daniel I’ve been enjoying your reviews of these SSRI drugs. It will be interesting to see how the Luvox works for you. I went on it myself about 20 years ago and I remember it started out well for the first week and my mood improved a lot. That early improvement was lost by the second week although after a few weeks I remember noticing some bigger improvements in my OCD than on previous SSRI drugs that had no effect on it at all.
Nevertheless, as far as depression goes, I had one good day 3 weeks in, then after that it just didn’t work for depression at all. It seemed better for OCD but didn’t improve my mood at all.
But we are all different and I hope that it works for you, it’s rarely used so I dunno what other peoples experience is.
Right now I’m 3 weeks in on Lexapro and this isn’t helping so far either, but I’ll not give up on it quite yet, even though it seems disappointing so far
Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes ... as annoying as all the chopping and changing has been trying out different meds has been ... an interesting journey of sorts. Sorry to hear that it wasn't a fit for you and hoping that the Lexapro will pick up for you.
Thanks for your
Video man . My psychiatrist insist on keeping me on Prozac it’s being horrible. I use lexapro in the past and it’s amazing . Going back to it ! Just hope don’t getting fat this time
How's the sexual side effects on this new medication?
Thanks Daniel. I love your videos honestly. I now managed to switch to lexapro 10 mg i am on it for 2 weeks now. I will cut my dose paxil in half next week l. Tapering to 5 mg. And add 10 mg lexapro.
Good luck!
I’d be interested to hear a little more about this tapering style switch since I didn’t think it was necessary to taper if they were both in the same class of antidepressant since I assumed the second SSRI would just take over the job of the first one, preventing withdrawal symptoms. But would be interesting to know what the truth is about this cos I’ve mostly done direct switches, no tapering involved
@@cultfiction3865 i am currently on 5 mg paxil and 10 mg Lexapro still. I wanted to make sure that i can make the switch back if things not worked out with the Lexapro. I still feel ok so i switch to 2,5 mg and 15 mg Lexapro soon
How’s think’s going with Luvox
Off to a good start! Thanks for asking!
