  • A Scottish Liberal Democrat, Liam has been the Member of the Scottish Parliament for Orkney since 2007 and was elected earlier this year as one of two Deputy Presiding Officers at Holyrood. He has long supported the right to choose the time and place of one’s death, and previously gave his support to efforts at changing the law in Scotland in 2010 and 2015. In September 2021, Liam launched his own proposals for a new members bill which would legalise assisted dying for mentally competent, terminally ill adults in Scotland. In his presentation Liam outlines his proposed bill and how supporters can encourage their MSP to back the proposal.
