The videos that you review get on my nerves lol. They spend more time creating and editing said videos rather than do their research and learn more about the transplant itself. Also, what's the point of their video if they don't know anything about hair transplants? Such a waste of time on their part. Thanks for all that you do Doc.

I loved your comments, most verbal and facial. Very enjoyable. Thank you!
I'm 32 and due to recent stress my hair loss has accelerated significantly in the last 1 year. About 3 months ago, I hadn't tried any therapy (supplements, micro needling, or medications) and I was ready to jump right into a hair transplant thinking it to be a 'permanent fix' to the problem with the least amount of ongoing care and exposure to side effects. Your videos breaking down the realities of hair transplant truly saved me from making a mistake by jumping straight to a hair transplant at a time when my hair loss is still happening. Since then, I have reevaluated my diet and I've started taking topical minoxidil & finasteride and supplements. I may add micro needling (even if ineffective by itself, hopefully it will help with absorption of the topical minoxidil & finasteride). I hope to stabilize my hair loss & see the results of these interventions in ~6 months and then will hopefully consider my hair transplant options. Thank you so much for the honesty in your videos, it's amazing to see people like you in the world putting out trustworthy content like this
6 months is not enough time to see the peek results. It's best to wait at least 1 year, and then after 2 years you will see the likely final result of treatment, but if you prefer to have quick, long-lasting results through transplantation and not play the waiting game with treatment, that is understandable. Also, if you are taking topical finasteride to avoid side effects, microneedling will, as you mentioned, increase absorption and then increase the risk of side effects. If you are prone, side effects are uncommon, but I usually see topical finasteride users have this fear, so you should know if this is you. I wish you great progress in your hair recovery!
you're fighting an uphill battle dude. the dht will eventually win out. there's no stopping the norwood reaper once he comes for u, not matter what you throw at him. u can slow him down but in the end, your hair doesn't stand a chance against him

He went on 3 surgeries before even having stable hair and taking medical therapy. That's crazy.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS start on medical therapy first.
If you really want your hair back, you must understand that the thing that is damaging your hair follicles in the first place is DHT or other androgen hormones.
I got INSANELY good result just from finasteride alone. I don't even need to take minoxidil or get a hair transplant because I did my research and got on finasteride first.
Like him, I also thought it's because of water, then I thought maybe because I have excessive oil, then I was like maybe it's because I need natural treatment like castor oil, but it isn't. I saw all those misinformations online and it made me go insane, I didn't know what to do.
If you're a men and you're losing hair. It is extremly likely that it's male pattern hairloss. Don't try to gaslight yourself, it's extremly safe to assume that it's male pattern hairloss. Go see your doctor and get prescription for male pattern hairloss. Don't gaslight yourself that it's because of this or that. The sooner you start treatment, the better it is, you might even not need any hair transplant or minoxidile for the rest of your life as long as you keep taking finasteride.
@@KFC431 true. Even I tried medication for many years but nothing worked in the end did HT.. cause it was all genetics and medication can't really control hairfall it baldness is in the blood
@@KR-dp6cb mb I didn't saw notification. There's many factors to take into consideration like wether you're a hyper responder or not or how long has your hair follicle stop producing hair in that area.
Best way to know is to start medication on finasteride, then get 1 hair transplant if you need. That's what I would do if I were you, or you can add minoxidile if you're still not satisfied with finasteride and hair transplant.
There's many good reasons why finasteride shpuld be first step if your case is male pattern baldness:
1. If you use minoxidile or do a hair transplant without using finasteride or other 5AR blocker, you'll still lose all your hairs because nothing will prevent androgen from damaging your hair follicles.
2. You might not need minoxidile or hair transplant if you're a hyper responder on finasteride like me. If you want I can literally get in a call on discord and show you on video call, I also got before pictures(just leave a comment while tagging me)
3. The moment you take finasteride, all the damage stops (+recovery), that's why it's first step unlike minoxidile that only stimulate growth(it doesn't stop and you'll lose all gains after few months). So it allows you to pause hairloss and even get some recovery which allows you to make other decisions like taking minoxidile or hair transplant or use an upcoming treatment for hairloss that are still in development(you can wait) without racing against time
4. Finasteride can work for life time as long as you keep using it (if not strong enough after 2-3 years, just get dose adjustment or upgrade to dutasteride)
There's a lot of fearmongers online because some are malding (in the litteral sense) since they might be ong the 2-3% who don't receive benefit from finasteride or the ones who start fin too late or some that didn't take fin on daily basis(lack commitment, like cmon, it's just 1 pill you have to swallow, it's even easier than brushing your teeth, just put an alarm to remind you, I take it at 7pm to max 9h30, within that time. If you're 4h late, it's better to wait for tomorrow)
@@KR-dp6cb idk maybe my comment got deleted, but what I wanted to say is it depends on multiple factors. The best way to know is to start the treatment.
I got before and after pictures, I can even show pn discord on video call if anyone is interested just tag me in the comment.

He did a great job documenting his experience. I felt the ups and downs of his transplant journey.
invest in your hair ...you wear it every day
This guy actually is a genuine guy, he has been posting his hairfall journey for more than 2 years which also educates what problems he faced so others might be aware of it. Although his videos are not in English.
Take it from a 60-year-old guy who still has a lot of hair. I was fortunate: I didn't start thinning until my late 30's and it was a slow process. I hopped on the minoxidil and did the liquid application 2X per day. It helped but the recession made me uncomfortable and I didn't like the look. I went to a well-known doctor in my area and we did a hair transplant 10 years ago. It really helped, but, I also got on finasteride and about 2 years ago switched to oral minoxidil/finasteride in pill form. Hair transplants work but you have to be vigilant and use the medication as Dr. Lintov suggests. I get a 90-day supply and take it once a day. Easy. Dermaroll 1X every other week. Stay on it. I'm a testament to consistency and hair diligence. Oh, and my three brothers are all bald. They waited too long. So far, I haven't noticed any side effects from the medication.
Sooo is the 🍆 still getting hard? If it doesn't, it's hard to tell if it's your age or the drugs 😅

Hello Doctor. I’m 12 months post fue hairline transplant and aside from a few hairs that popped up a few months back I haven’t had any real growth. The hairline hasn’t grown in and my temples didn’t fill in either. I’m African American 29 year old male. 2500 grafts to hairline and temple…is there any chance that my transplant can still work or is it a failure?
Hi doctor : when you say that you can do a transplant without shaving, do you know if any studies have tested if there were any differences in efficacy? In terms of how the transplanted hair are maintained, and how healthy are the hairs around the transplanted ones?
My hair started thinning in my teens. Been using minoxidil in my early 30s w finasteride. I still have roughly a complete coverage 😁 at 47. Maybe I can do HT with Dr. Gary if I ever get a bald spot. Why these people go for HT before trying regain is beyond me
I had also 2 surgeries and have started Finasterid 7 months after the 2nd surgery. So i started taking Finasterid in May 2023. But I just used 0.25 mg every day in oral form.
Last week I have made a blood test to check my DHT and Testosteron level. My Testosteron level was at 6.68 ng per ml which is normal. And my DHT level was at 168 pg per ml. The nominal values for DHT based on the doctors report were between 300 and 850 pg per ml. My question is is 168 pg per ml low enough to stop further hair loss or should I increase to 0.5 mg?
I just try to find a good dosage to decrease side effects and stop hair loss
I think the importance of the medical therapy cannot be overstated. I think your videos enormously helped me understand the benefit of it. People don't realise that a hair transplant is really a last resort after trying finasteride or minoxidil for more than 6 months. I finally got a hair transplant recently and I am proud to say I have been on medical therapy for 8 months and will be on it for years to come in order to look after my hair. Your videos have been a great source of education.
And how is your sex drive?
What type of medication should I try first before attempting to get a hair transplant? Right now, I have a receding hairline with the top of my scalp thinning out.

Hi doctor, I have a question: does oral Finasteride lose its potency and/or effectiveness over time (1, 5, 10, 20+ years)? And if so, what's the remedy for those cases where you would like to maintain your hair after long-term use of the medication but find that Finasteride stops working? Is Dutasteride the answer? Will Dutasteride also lose effectiveness in the long run?
Hey doc. Is it okay to take finasteride (1mg) 3 times a week for hairloss? I’m taking it every Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
My hair has been very slowly thinning since my mid 20s and now at 32 I’m losing a lot more hair to the point that it’s really affecting how I style my hair.
I’m at a difficult crossroads because I want to start finasteride but I am terrified of having gynecomastia recurrence ( I had surgery at about 26 - the extreme stress from my recovery ironically triggered the beginning of my loss and a few subsequent periods of extreme stress continued it).
My surgeon told me that it’s unlikely but not 100% risk free that it would come back if I take finasteride. I’m also terrified of minoxidil because I read some people go through the extreme shed and never have any regrowth so they just end up worse off.
I’m scared :( and don’t know what to do
Stress is the #1 cause of most hair losses. Happy life, happy head of hair. Stress causes the top of your head to tighten up over years,
resulting in poor blood circulation.
This is why seldom people lose their hair on the sides and back of the head because these areas do not get tight as on the top crown and have much better blood circulation.
Two months back I did my hair transplant here in Delhi, India. I'm already seeing some improvement; the spreading phase has gone now, and I am starting to see micro hair sprouting on my scalp.
I am not on oral therapy only on minoxidil 5%, I waited for a year to stabilize my hair (with minoxidil 2%+ derma roller and multivitamins- to reverse my balding) then did hair transplant.
I recommend do the same to all who are interested in getting hair transplant. The surgon could convince you to do transplant but mine educated me and he said we can proceed with hair transplant but you should wait and stabilize it for better results. I waited a year then go it done without finesricide. He also said you may need Finax in few year depending on situation so be prepared to take them.

Dr. Gary, is it to ok to take finasteride each every other day(3-4 mg a week) and still have the same effect?
Yes
Almost
I take it like that
Yes
To answer late I will say that's a very bad idea as the half life is about 6 hours so in 18 hours you have 12.5% effectiveness and the testosterone will be more heavily converted to DHT following that. Essentially the second day your follicles will be affected by DHT and over years it will still reduce your loss but it will be far less effective at preserving your hair over 5 to 10 years.
Hello Dr Gary,
I am on stage 2 of hairloss. I started taking finasteride 1mg from November 2022 to August 2023. I noticed a lot of side effect. I had a significant weight loss. And skin got darkened with some black patches on forehead. I quit the medication since September 2023. Spots on my forehead have lightened very much and I regained a healthy weight. Can you please suggest what should I do to avoid hair fall. I am still using minoxidil but still my hairline is receding.
Thank you in advance
Hello! Nice result in that video.
What am I suppose to do, if Finasteride for me is a dangerous treatment, because I had a whole bingo of side effects after 1-3 month of using this medical and still, after 5 years - have some issues. I used oral Finasteride and topical variant after. Any alternatives without hormonal or the only fix for me is doing several hair transplants in future? For now, I have Norwood 3 and am 29 years old.
There's no alternative to blocking most of your DHT. People who get hair transplants are also usually on finasteride/dutasteride so they don't lose the hair around the transplant.
If you can tolerate it look into topical finasteride, there's some information showing it has less side effects compared to oral. Consult your doc.

Hello Dr. Lykov
I have a quick question as a 24 year old (soon to be 25), and with first signs of thinning and balding mainly in the temples. I would say I’m about a Norwood 2 perhaps, but am considering starting medical therapy now rather than waiting until my 30s. Is finasteride 1 mg, and minoxidil 5 mg in their oral forms sound like a reasonable start? I would order from feel confident but unfortunately moved to Hong Kong just last week and won’t be in the states anytime soon unfortunately. Thank you!
I’m 26 and in the same situation, I started using only finasteride about six months ago. No side effects and it’s stopped my hair loss. My hair also feels thicker overall but that could be just from taking better care of it in general
@doctorgarrylinkov How long can one stay on finasteride 1mg if taken alternatively and would test like LSH,SHBG,5 alpha DHT,total testosterone and free testosterone help in evaluating side effects..& how often would u recommend these tests if they do help in evaluating side effects.????

My hair was SO thick. REALLY thick actually.
I started getting seriously stressed at work lately and have noticed I've lost LOADS of hair lately.
Now, the top of my hair is thinning but the sides and back are still really thick.
It's not so noticeable to people looking as it's still kind of long but I can definitely feel that it's not as full on top as it used to be.
For those of you taking finasteride and showing no sides effect have no idea how lucky you are, because finasteride does make a difference and combining with Minoxidil makes it even better. Unfortunately I stopped finasteride after experiencing side effects. I did 2 fue treatments, first in 2014 in some clinic in Turkey which I regret that I didn't do a research to find a good doctor. 2nd one with Dr. Luis Nader in 2023 in Reynosa, Mexico. Super happy with the results and I would love to go back to Dr. Nader again, but he says I only have about 1500 the most. Not sure if it worth traveling to Mexico from LA for 1500 grafts.

@joshmoronstein Topical Minoxidil grows hair wherever you apply it given that you can grow hair there
@@icarus2k Well yeah, that's true. I thought he meant if you apply it to your head.
What are the side effects of these medications?
My strategy was to completely avoid a hair transplant and use medical therapy. I take finasteride, monoxidil, and use micro-needling hair growth therapy with a medical grade derma-pen (not a roller!!!) for my hairline once a week every Sunday at 1.5mm. Originally I started at 0.5mm to enhance topical absorption of monoxidil. I gradually increased the depth of the needle to 1.5mm for topical absorption and to stimulate deeper scalp layers.
You want to avoid rollers. This is because the needles come in at an angle which can cause unnecessary scarring. It can potentially lead to further hair-loss. The roller method also to a fault relies on your manual applied pressure which can be inconsistent. A derma-pen will automatically inject at the depth setting you select regardless of your applied pressure.
Keep in mind, this is much more painful than a roller. Invest in a good numbing cream and to make the process smoother, apply a water based gel to your skin to remove any friction.

Can the donor area of a hair transplant be other than the back of the head? Like could hairs from, for example, the nape, back, or chest be used to transplant new hairs?
I have seen a video where they took beard hair as donor hair
@@rideinpeace8309 scarring your face is a bad idea
Can you do one on Ed Westwick ??🙂
Hi Garry, could you do a video about finasteride V dutasteride ?
How much it costs at your clinic in the US doctor. I'm eager to know 😅
Anybody got recommended hair transplant places in Europe? From Ireland and got FUE 2500 graphs Oct'14 and it looks like shit now. (and no, wasn't on medication, was told that it was DHT resistant hair so no more medication needed - I was on Finasteride and minoxidil up to then).
Please review" institute of human anatomy" hair loss video
But doesnt Finastride have side effects? How long would you have to take it for?
It does and you need to take it forever. It doesn't stop shit because as soon as you stop taking it you can say goodbye to your hair lol
At 6:00, why do surgeons often create a more dense area on the first inch, inch and a half after the hairline? Wouldn't it look more natural to try to maintain the same density as the rest of fully available hair area, the donor area for instance?
Medical therapy doesn't work for everyone. Finasteride and Minoxidil both stopped working for me after 2 years.
Have you tried Dutasteride and RU?
@@Tytyfre Nah. That was enough for me. I was diligent and very regular in my medication. I also switched to Oral minoxidil. That also doesn’t work.
My cousin was taking both for years and still ended up having to get a transplant because they didn’t work for him :(
Iam balled and love it as hell. No way to do such thing to my love balled head ❤
I have “hims” topical spray with 6% minoxidil and 0.3% finasteride.
Don't you mean Keeps? I think Hims is something else..
Hilariously I made the EXACT same mistake when talking to a friend the other day. I asked him "oh you are buying your stuff through "hims" right?" lol@@Mr.PhatsVarietyVibesShow
Eyebrows are lookig good Dr. Linkov, I hope he watches your video and thank you for pointing out that theirs good and bad in every country, so thats why we need to do our research.
he won't
Dear Doctor Linkov. Is it possible to get an online consultation concerning a Hairtransplant? I live in Europe but would really like to get your opinion on my status? Regards Deniz
Yeah bro, go on his website or call his clinic to set that up
With finasteride, I've had a problem. When I started taking it at 1.25mg at first 3 moths it was great - a lot of new terminal hair but after that, everything started falling out and in next one year I lost a lot of hair, everything thinned out so bad so I had to stop. :( Now I started topical finasteride so we will see...
You were supposed to HOLD. Like stocks. That downswing was on its way up before you stopped
yes you should be shedding hair for the first 6 months to a year on finasteride and then new hairs will grow. You quit half way so you're gonna bald even faster now
Not sure what's the point with taking Finasteride.
It has possible side effects such as erectile disfunction and you have to take it all your life in order to keep your hair.
Is it worth ?
Sir I have a Question.
Im 24 I've done my hair transplant on sept 13th last hear and since then I've been using finestride and some multivitamins like Biotin (5000 mg) but my hair fall has not stopped I'm still losing significant amount of hair what should I do plz I need help?
Is it possible to grow hair in the transplanted area two years after the implant? Like red light therapy vitamins prp???
The thing I heard about UAE water is, the water they use is purified water, so it doesn't contain any minerals and that's why it causes hair loss. Basically the water is too clean :D
