Dr, as a Turkish person and a long time fan of your channel i want to really thank you so much because of your non-biased and objective commentary. Because honestly, when i saw this video's title i was worried bc so many "plastic surgery in Turkey" videos gave of that "oh so you go to this 3rd world country where there is no medical standards so ofc you will be harmed for life" kind of racist and fear mongoring vibes which i find really offensive. the main reason why ps is much cheaper in Turkey is the devaluation of our currency which makes us, the Turkish people living here, suffer already and to hear foreigners who came here for cheaper surgery without any research whatsoever being used to trash our country as sort of a "lawless, uncivilized country" really sounds inconsiderate. But as expected, you were kind and objective as always. Thank you so much for that and for your informative videos💗

Couldn’t agree more with you. I’m in the medical field in the Netherlands and I flew frequently to Istanbul to see if I can conduct medical research with doctors there and I have spoken to some amazing doctors. And all of them explained me that medical procedures are not cheap to the people in Istanbul. It’s actually quite expensive and these people cannot afford these procedures. The Turkish Lira currency against the dollar and euros is very low and that’s why affordable to foreigners. But “cheap cost” doesn’t equal cheap quality medical care.
One doctor told me the Turkish medical school is like being in an army, it’s intense. However there has been malpractice due to “medical professionals” conducting procedures they aren’t licensed for. That’s why you should always do your research. But this can happen everywhere, also un the USA

    • @ashleylala4293
      @ashleylala4293 Před rokem +4

I’m American and I find it funny when Americans think our “healthcare” system is the best in the world. It’s certainly the most expensive, with some of the worst outcomes. Chronic illness wouldn’t be skyrocketing if our Drs were the best and brightest. This country is sicker than ever. I think there’s approx 300,000 deaths per year from medical mistakes made by Drs in this country. There’s also a large number of people who die taking rx drugs exactly as prescribed by their Drs. When I went to Taiwan and Japan, I was astounded by how much more intelligent their medical staff were. The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America is no joke. For example, my mom went to the Cleveland Clinic, one of our best hospitals, supposedly. She had a high fever from an active infection. The first thing they wanted to do was give her a flu shot. You NEVER give a vaccine to someone with an active infection unless you are trying to harm them. Thank God my mom was informed enough to refuse the vaccine. That’s just one example of many I could give. The incompetence I have witnessed is truly staggering.
No offense to Dr Linkov, ofc, he’s one of the good ones.

Airfare, 5 days hotel stay and cost of procedure total was $3000 the doctor was there the whole time, it took 10 hours. Sincerely, you are a true doctor, caring firstly for patients' health and then for your clinic's profit. Now, concerning the video commenting, I laughed hard when someone said that 6 hours could do the whole procedure, as not even a robot can perform such a a demanding micro-surgery (such as FUE) in that time. From my experience, my transplantation lasted a total of 16 hours, divided in two sessions of 8 hours, in two consecutive days. It was much more efficient that way, as both the patient and the surgeon get tired after some time, especially if we are talking about >3000 graft procedure.

I had a hair transplant in my local country Ireland. They had great reviews and I asked questions for months and months everything looked good. they told me they would put 3000 grafts.
    The surgery cost me €10,000.
The results was so disappointing, it lacked density and hairline looked so fake. I do not expect to have great density but the density was super low to a point where after hair transplant I still shaved lol.
Also just to point out, it looked nowhere near 3000 grafts after the surgery, more like 1800 grafts max.
Last year in December 2021 I went to Turkey clinic called Cinik and I had my second procedure there,
they fixed the hairline made fixed the density and it looked better in every way. I only paid like €2500 including hotel, food, trasfer.
I felt robbed paying €10,000 in Ireland.

I've gotta be honest. I live in the United States, and had a hair transplant done in a neighboring state. My first instinct was to go to a good place in Turkey but I ended up getting a procedure not too far from me from a board certified hair surgeon. I paid around $11,000 for almost 2,200 grafts on my frontal area and honestly, I'm not very hopeful of the results. I've had a McDonald's hairline for years and the doctor was adamant about designing a hairline with some recession so it would look natural. Two months later and I still feel like the sides are still too receded, and it honestly seems like it's not gonna be much of an improvement by the time 12 months passes. I still have a McDonald's hairline, just now it looks thicker in the middle. If I had went to Turkey in the first place, my hunch is that they would've gave me a hairline that wouldn't look so receded. I'm gonna have to get a second transplant anyway for the back of my head and I'm 100% going to a good place in Turkey, and I plan to ask them if they can actually do some work on the front as well near my temples. Don't make my mistake; if you're not rich, go to a good place in Turkey.

    Read this before booking:
I was desperate for help and stumbled upon this Bloomberg video. I fell for the whole glossy presentation and booked immediately. I later found out, Blue Magic isn’t on the ‘Top 10 clinics in Turkey’ list. I wish I had done much more research.
But I flew to Istanbul in May 2022. I was picked up in a dirty van and brought to a mediocre hotel. The clinic you see in the website photos and CZcams videos does not exist. Instead, I was brought to an empty office building with a very temporary set-up. I asked 4 people why we were in such a dingy building with mis-matched furniture. One told me they were renovating the old space, one said they have multiple offices, one said they were building a brand-new clinic and one said that this is their only space. The first person who greeted me was a sloppily dressed student - my translator. She said, “who are you?” and gave me a document to sign. The document was a release form in case of death, waiving all responsibility. It also mentioned possible extra costs. It was a very odd welcome. No champagne, no greetings. I had questions about the document. She told me to sign it, and my questions would be answered later. Four of us crammed into a tiny elevator. There were no COVID rules, no masks. We arrived in the offices - I sat on some old IKEA furniture. The “doctors” and “technicians” were all around 22-25 years old. There was no leader or manager. The main “doctor” wore jeans and was maybe 28-30. The experienced old men in white coats from the videos were nowhere to be seen. There were no staff rooms, the staff just hung out in the receptions area and looked lost and rather chaotic. There were no changing rooms, or any privacy at all. A man with a video camera was following us. The reception desk doubled as a blood centrifuge station. The receptionist worked with blood samples less than a meter from where I sat. The staff were on their phones the entire time. They had no other computers or tools. There were a few pieces of equipment scattered around. It did not feel at all like a medical facility. There was nothing hanging on the walls - only dust outlines from the previous tenants. The man beside me was given a pill for his high blood pressure. He didn’t know what it was. Him and I started nervously counting the red flags. I understand that the staff can’t all speak English, but they constantly pointed at us, talked and laughed in Turkish. That was unnerving. We were to wear our street-clothes for the surgery. We were given no gowns. When meeting with the “doctor”, I was asked all the questions I had already answered in my medical questionnaire weeks ago. He had done no preparation and didn’t have a copy or any paperwork at all. I had to inform him what procedure I was having. I told him what the team had promised me, he disagreed and told me it was not possible. I showed him the many, many photos I was sent from the sales team, he just said: Not possible. I was mis-informed about what results I could expect - and found this out in Istanbul, 10 minutes before the scheduled surgery. I had already paid the full amount for the procedure. A 400 GBP deposit and a 1844.87 GBP payment that morning. I was horrified. I decided not to do the surgery. The American man with the high blood-pressure walked out as well. Two of the four men backed out that day. The American went back 2 weeks ago. In November 2022. Same building, same conditions, same staff. He said the procedure was horribly painful and would never do it again. Since May, the CEO’s assistant has tried to convince me to also come back. She apologized for almost everything, blamed culture differences for the rest, and thanked me for the valuable feedback. No compensation has ever been offered. Finally in November, with no progress or acceptable solutions, I decided not to go back. Too many broken promises, too much misleading information. Too many reasons to just go somewhere else. I asked multiple times for a refund. They have flat out refused. As a last resort, I threatened to leave some bad reviews. The CEO replied to may last mail on November 11 and wrote: “Unfortunately from today onwards, no one at our company will be at your disposal neither will come back to you further this last email of mine. You can proceed with all the things you listed, I am sure it will keep your life busy for a bit. But I invite you to think about something. How good this will make you as a human being for acting unfairly towards a group of people that at the end of the day, only tried to help and support? Best of luck.” Looking back, there were so many signs. The company has a “clinic” in Turkey, the employees are in Albania with, sometimes, British phone numbers. The company “headquarters” is in the UK. This means, there is no way to hold them legally accountable for anything. The messiness is intentional. My lawyer wouldn’t touch it. But caution: The sales staff are unbelievable friendly. Super polite, almost creepy. They told me exactly what I wanted to hear every time. They comforted me and assured me. They called me 'family' and guaranteed we would all be best friends. They sent 30+ before and after photos of happy clients. (I am not sure the clients are aware that their ‘before’ photos are being Whatsapped all over the world - without their consent) I never waited more than 4 hours for an answer. Until they had my money. They have “medical specialists” to answer specific questions. Although, I have a biology degree, and most of what they told me was inaccurate or outright wrong. I guess most people don’t question it. My desperation for change and improvement somehow let me ignore so many things. Turkey has many clinics. Blue Magic does own any special technology. I contacted Bloomberg to ask if they know about the misrepresentation in their video. I have received no answer yet. “Too good to be true” really applies here.

Amazing amazing content! I would say its relevant for the whole medical esthetics industry.
I have serious trust issues with these clinics, and I really want to understand if the doctor I'm seeing cares about my long term esthetics and my health just as much as he cares about money and scaling his operation.
I find it very hard to feel secure and comfortable with these choices since the only tool that I had so far is reading customer reviews and asking some technical question, but I always feel like they are very trained in answering these questions.
Also consulting sometimes costs money, and I'm also not sure they are honest with me while consulting.
Seeing this video now I feel like I know which questions I should ask to get a better sense of their operation.
Huge thanks for the job you're doing, I think you are filling an increasing void in this growing industry, many people are looking for more honesty and trust and professionalism in the esthetics industry, and I think the work you're doing will only help this industry grow and develop eventually.

I'll personally speak to a professional hair consultant that has done the due diligence of researching clinics, as well as, having had the procedure themselves (multiple times). I've found a couple here on YT. I'm personally going consult with one or both of them before considering a procedure. The reason why the reputable US clinics can charge many times more per graft is simply because they can, even though, their results don't justify the price compared to a great clinic abroad. Unfortunately, many younger men on a budget understand that hair is an uphill battle and most likely will require multiple HT's and lifelong medication to maintain their hair. Remember, there are good and bad clinics in the US and abroad.

Are they going to have the care and facilities needed to resolve any issues? That concern is what made me decide to stay home. I am glad I did, as I had complications, and ended up in the emergency room 3 days later. I am not saying A foreign country won't have the ability to take care of emergencies. I am saying make sure you find out beforehand. @@jessedavidtyler it’s been only 4 months . Hair is still very thin. I will be able to judge after month 6 at least.

So you said 4 months and it’s still thin… are you able to cut your hair very short ? And does it look filled in?

You my think I'm not being objective cause i'm Turkish, but really there are too many great places for hair transplant in Turkey, Istanbul. People are really happy after their procedures. Of course there are good and bad places I cannot say which one is which, but if you do your research properly, it most likely will be great for you. There is one doctor I know, his name is Bülent Cihantimur. He is one of the best one I know.

@Rtg Nzb just one time gave you sufficient result? I heard that to get the best result, most people generally need more than 1 transplant.

Dr. Gary, I’m from North Jersey and I know exactly what billboard you’re talking about. It’s located on halfway on I-495. You can see it if you’re driving to the Lincoln Tunnel. As I’m writing this about a year after this video came out, that billboard advertisement has been up there constantly for about 2-3 years. They recently moved it to the other side of the highway.

Gary I love your content, but you could add the links of when you reference one of your other videos in the description, and/or in the upper player's card. it's easier for the watcher to find them, rather than having to go through the whole channel, there's just too much content already to find one specific video. cheers from Brazil and this ex New Yorker :D
