I've noticed over the years cosmetic brands (Murad for example) marketing "magic skin pills" but it seems like a lot of these brands are just repackaging and marketing a multivitamin...Marketing at its finest I suppose? 👀

Anecdotally, I can say that this works. I didn’t use the supplement you’re talking about, I used pantothenic acid 500mg with no other additives. My skin was mostly clear within 7-10 days. I still take it when I get breakouts and they clear within 2-3 days. Pantothenic acid + topical tretinoin + appropriate skin care = the best remedy for adult hormonal acne that I have ever found.

It 100% worked for me, too. Previously my derm had me try salicylic acid initially (2 months), then some other topical steroid type treatments and some expensive face washes (2 more months), then antibiotics (Doxycycline) and Epiduo (2 more months). It just got progressively worse and he ended up suggesting Accutane. So I said no, and went to search online and found B5. I was scared at first because people were taking so many, but I was desperate so I bought some. I took 5 morning, 5 afternoon, 5 nighttime, 500mg B5, any brand. I used no treatments, no soap, no moisturiser, no SPF. After 2 weeks I stopped getting new cysts. I carried on for 1 month, and my skin was *completely* clear, after the second month even my scars were nearly 100% gone. I slowly cut down, 10 daily for month 3, 5 daily for month 4, 2 daily for month 5, then nothing for month 6. My skin is finally 100% clear, and has remained this way for 2 years. I have periods of stress where I get a few pimples, and I just take 5 per day for a maximum of 5 days and it clears up immediately. Now I don't spend a penny on acne 'treatments'. I have a Cerave cleanser, and a Cerave moisturiser with SPF, which tbh I do not stick to with a strict routine or anything. Some people complain of hair thinning or hair loss, but I had no symptoms from taking B5.

Stopped taking B5 for several months and acne progressively returned. Began retaking it before end of 2020 till now and acne is pretty much gone. I strongly believe it works for my skin.

That's great. I had small pimples in my teens, but got bad cystic acne in my 20s, on very dry facial skin. It was hormonal, so after a while of trying to deal with it on my own, easily solved with the help of a dermatologist, my GP and a gynecologist as I was put on a very low dose birth control pill (for other issues too), and that cleared it up. I didn't even need to take a heavy duty birth control pill (they used to prescribe "Diane" for this).

I always appreciate your professional opinion. B5 did stop the hormonal acne I was suffering from flares of twice a month. I had zero expectations of it working, but it did. I don’t take the crazy amounts I that I see some others are taking either. It’s in my daily multivitamin (5mg) and then I take 250mg of B5 in a separate capsule. I was taking two capsules to start but I found just one daily was as effective. I did and still do eat a well balanced diet, but for whatever reason even eating those B5 rich foods was not helping.
In my opinion, it’s no different than you taking supplements necessary because you choose to be vegan. Sometimes we need a little extra help because our foods are not enough. For me, B5 supplements definitely worked, and I continue to have success with it.

I eat all of the yummy foods listed anyway. I am now inspired to make a batch of lentil soup to store in the freezer in individual serves. My favorite way to eat broccoli is to lightly spray it with extra virgin olive oil with lots of slivers of fresh garlic. Cover, and steam it in the microwave (no water needed) until it is cooked..but not too soft! (I criss-cross cut the thicker ends of the florets first). The color becomes nice & bright. No salt, optional cracked black pepper. I can eat a whole bowl of it this way. đŸ‘±â€â™€ïžâ€đŸ„ŠđŸ„ŠđŸ„Š

After I stopped the pill my acne came back, then I tried B5 supplements, I strayed taking 4 after every meal and then cut it back to 4 each day. It cleared my acne really well, I still have skin texture but as for pimple I have none. I’ve been on it for 2 months. My son tried pantothenic acid (B5) and it completely cleared his skin from acne when nothing else worked. He takes it every day to keep it clear. I can’t speak for anyone else but in my sons situation it worked 100%. He takes 4 of the 500mg pills 3 times a day probably until he’s done with puberty. I read that when a male is going through puberty they need b5 for the sex hormone and the body will redirect it away from the skin if it doesn’t have enough of it so basically the skin takes the hit if the body doesn’t have enough.

Yes, as “d b” mentioned, Andrea has a number of EXCELLENT videos for those of us with maturing skin đŸ˜ŠđŸ‘đŸŒ. I have a specific recommendation for you to try on the skin around your eyes and anywhere else where your skin is dry, and that is the Lipikar Baume AP+M from LaRoche-Posay. It is so, so good! I use it over my entire face and neck (including my eyes,) every night, and honestly, my skin has *never* looked as good as it does now 😁. I use Tretinoin nightly for its anti-ageing benefits, and with the Lipikar balm in my regimen, I’m experiencing no dryness, flaking etc. (I apply the tretinoin on top of the Lipikar, btw, with a dab of Vaseline around my eyes and corners of my nose.) I hope you’re able to try it, and if you do, that you love it as much as me đŸ™đŸŒ. LRP do manufacture sample sizes of their products, and the Lipikar Baume comes in a generous 15ml! Hopefully if you ask your pharmacy/drugstore they’ll give you one to try.
Oh, I have one other recommendation: the LRP Toleriane Softening Foaming Gel. It’s a gentle, ph neutral cleanser that I love to use because it does the job, but doesn’t dry out my skin. I’m sure there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good, but I still recommend this one đŸ‘đŸŒ.

Now I wonder if the Biotin was interfering because I’m still working on getting my face clear again - it’s just awful. I also noticed an incredible improvement with the healing process of the skin (way faster) and a reduction of oil production. The results are comparable with the Accutane treatment ( that I started later because I didn't want to take the b5 supplement forever) avoiding the extreme dry skin you get with isotretinoin. I loved b5 and once you get a good clear skin you can decrease the dose and keep the results. If you stop it, after a few months you get your pimples back unfortunately. The problem with pantothenic acid is it’s not available in Bhutan. Hope Amazon is listening and make it accessible worldwide.

I bought the now foods pantothenic acid, should I take it as it is in the plastic looking cover? Or am I suppose to take it apart and take the powder? Sorry if this seems really stupid.

My son has the same thing. I actually had to stop using anything but Cetaphil eczema line of products. His scalp was so dry I was able to use the body wash for his scalp. It was non irritating and non drying.
Changing his diet to a strictly gluten free one was the only thing that truly helped. Nothing else worked. It is not a problem that is just on the outside. It is just a symptom of the extreme inflammatory process going on inside the body.

I have had seborrheic dermatitis since baby times, so "cradle cap" along with very dry facial skin. My mom always used sweet almond oil on me, but baby oil will probably be better (hypo-allergenic, I believe). Just a couple drops on a cotton ball and dab and rub in small patches. That is what my mom has always done for my face, before moisturizer. I'm 48 and still have dry facial skin, but my skin is really nice and I thank my mom for it.

Thank you for mentioning B12 may cause acne. In my case, dairy causes acne so I ate in a vegan place that uses nutritional yeast for their vegan cheese. Had two huge cystic pimples after that meal. Turns out most yeast flakes have insane levels of B12 vitamin added.

I became vegan, tried vegan cheeses and nutritional yeast, and had the same reaction. It was awful. I thought i was developing hidradentis suppuritiva. Nope, it's yeast. Now i just take a vitamin for B12.

This started working literally OVERNIGHT for me in high school (~10 years ago), but I did take 20 pills/day which gave me the runs for a week or two until my body got used to it. This was a miracle and also made my hair less oily! Eventually I tapered down to 8 pills/day and then got off completely. I'm considering going back on, but at around 12 pills/day bc I've been getting some more breakouts (likely due to poor diet, which yes I'm also trying to work on). I would however not recommend 20 pills/day because I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease a few years ago. Are the two related? I have no idea. But I can't in good conscience recommend that high dose.

The bottles say to take 1 capsule a day
..why would people take more then the recommended dose? I’m sure it’s one a day for a reason
